Learn more about The Hill and how you can support and partner at rogofoundation...
Students in San Bernardino are struggling with loneliness, mental health, violence, housing insecurity, access to hygienic products, services, and personal safety. 10% of minors are currently homeless, and 90% are classified by the School Board as “socioeconomically disadvantaged”. Sandals Church and the ROGO Foundation, in partnership with multiple city and county educators as well as local small business owners and nonprofits, have decided to address these problems by launching a Teen Center giving teenagers access to a safe, clean, and fun environment for them to connect with their peers and adults who want to walk alongside them, as well as get access to valuable aid.
By redesigning a rundown and unused building at Sandals Church San Bernardino, the Teen Center will provide access to laundry facilities, licensed counseling, clothing, healthy food, recreational facilities and regular programming, as well as career/opportunity development facilities and services.

This is really wonderful Chris, to see Sandals Church teaming up with Rogo Foundation and other organizations to create a safe place for students. They really needed The Hill Teen Center in San Bernardino. Praying for success.

Wow, no mention of our Savior or his Gospel. SB doesn’t need secular community based on the world’s view of love. They need to be preached the word of God and be told to repent and believe in Christ.

Bible is pretty clear that when someone is hungry and cold, you give them food and clothing. What good is it to say be warmed and filled if we don’t actually offer it.

@@scottschutte1810 Thanks for engaging Scott. Be careful of the straw man; I didn’t say we not should feed or clothe them.. of course we should! Faith without works is dead, right? But the issue being that we need to care for their souls primarily. What good is it if their bodies are warm and bellies full if their souls are condemned? Like Jesus asked in Matt 8:26.
I know your heart is coming from a sincere place, but please consider my point. I came from a similar background as these folks, but in Hemet. I like how Ray Comfort explains it when he’s evangelizing: Someone is going to jump out of an airplane. I could say Jesus loves you and give them a big meal and blanket but that will obviously not save them. They need a parachute first then they will be able to live to eat and be warm. Jesus is the bread of life! John 6:35. Feed them the gospel.

@@christophercundiff2667 I agree that we also need to care for their souls. In my experience though, people don’t hear the important things until you’ve helped them with the lesser things. I think for me, it’s about meeting people where they are, and if they have actual physical needs, that is a place we can leverage to speak into their lives.
Also, I believe this place will do Spiritual things as well, I just think as their launching it and trying to get funding for it, they’re probably trying to catch a certain audience with it.
I appreciate your thoughts and ideas!
