Hinduism is an umbrella for many of the Indian Subcontinent faith. You have advaith branch which belief that there is 1 god, davita: 2 gods(ying/yang), Trinity, 5, 7,10, 32 gods etc. There are also many schools that advocate no gods. People didn't try to force their beliefs onto others and so Hindus have many beliefs contrary to others within itself.

I used to be 'secular' and universal in outlook and believed that one can reach God through any number of spiritual paths but then I saw the behaviour and attitude of Abrahamics (Semitic religion followers) and how most of them perceive Hindus as pagans, cow worshippers, kafirs and other derogatory terms. At that point I stopped being secular and inclusive. I now only care about Hindus and all those who respect Hinduism.
Respect can never be a one-way street. I only give respect to those who truly respect my faith. India remains a secular country only because Hindus are in majority - the day that demography changes you will see us becoming another Pak or B'desh or Afghanistan. Hindus must remember this dark reality and always stand firm in your identity.

I was really wanting Vivek to become President but Jesus did not chose him . I knew this in my spirit when he intentionally left the 2nd commandment out whilst quoting the 10 commandments . Christian here, I love the beauty and depth of wisdom in Hinduism -- and I definitely think interfaith people are some of the wisest and graceful people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
As a Hindu child , growing up I was told all religions lead to same God and are just different paths....but when I hear the teachings of other religions I wonder how small was the thinking of their founders or maybe not founders just the followers

People usually conflate global christianity and christian societies, with western first world societies. Yes, they are also chrisitian and the most peaceful but-
A. They are industrialized rich first world nations, well off people tend to be less tribal and violent, and good economies enable good law and order and policing.
B. They are almost exclusively christian, which means there aren't many other religious populations of any significant size in those countries to have such religious conflicts.
C. Lastly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, these countries are based on greco-roman inspired enlightenment values, that curb the egregious and nasty elements of the christian faith and enable the civilized modern world that we witness today.
Step outside the enlightened westernized world, and witness christianity in its full glory. Go to Africa. Christianity and christian society in absence of enlightenment values doesn't look very different from a certain other infamous abrahamic faith notorious for a lot of chaos we see around the world today.

Shaktya sect believes in the female power of the goddess.
Vaishnav belive in vishnu as Supreme being
Shaivs have a belief ghat Shiva is the ultimate if everything.

At the root of Hinduism, there is actually only one true God. All other Gods are simply avatars of the same one God, hence the word 'avatar' which comes from Sanskrit.
Hinduism at the core is a monotheist religion, but People also worship all the avatars of the one supreme God.

I am glad to have seen this conversation. I will always vote Blue and really disagree with where Vivek lands on issues but this was eye opening. Day to day, if he and his family were our neighbors, we’d be super close. Like I’d vehemently disagree with his politics but his family, especially kids will always have a home in my home. I’d keep a spare key if they asked, babysit last minute if they need etc. but I’d be annoyed about his politics (and let him know when we have a relaxed conversation) I guess that’s the best we can do to respect each other. 🤷🏽♀️

And this right here is the beautify of Hinduism and I'm so glad i'm a part of it. I cannot imagine harbouring dislike/hatred towards someone purely cause of the approach they take to believe in their God. God isn't petty like humans. If your scriptures are telling you that they are the 'one and only' then that should be a big indicator as to why you shouldn't be following that approach. Hinduism is very inclusive, open and encourages people to believe in God as they wish as all our prayers go to the same energy. More than a 'religion' it is a philosophy of life. There are many philosophies within it. An atheist can also be viewed as a 'Hindu' as Hinduism also encourages one to question and be curious, and not to blindly believe.
