- Captain Tom Moore has been knighted by the Queen during a private ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Sir Tom earned himself the honour after raising almost £33m for the NHS during the coronavirus crisis. The 100-year-old Second World War veteran set out on his challenge to walk 100 lengths of his Bedfordshire garden before reaching 100.

I’m in the US, and I’ve been following Captain Tom from his first walk. What a well deserved precious moment.
Dispite all the Chaos and sadness 2020 has been. This has made me smile and and shed a few tears of Joy. Well done Sir Tom Moore.

What a hero, he just got on with it - no fuss, no complaining and no grandstanding. Why can't all these celebrities trying to virtue signal about every little thing that happens in the world take a leaf out of his book.

@@---qo3yz yes its true and majority of tourism especially the Japanese comes to see Britain's heritage knowing the Royals are alive, trooping of guards so forth and so on. There are stupid people who just want to destroy the monarch and for what. Tourist wont come all the way just for a head of state, they come and participate in real Royal events. Look what happen to last Emperor of China, now a guided tour with empty thrones and has lost its popularity, more popular are the terra cotta statues. I love seeing the changing of the guards. It's seeing real life heritage and not museum like libraries.
@@farmeresscherrylanford3539 we could still keep the guard and just get rid of the royal family, that makes more sense tbh. Make the castle a museum for the guards to guard, everybody wins.
@@VivalaryMan I totally disagree. Just to see guards I can go anywhere in the world. There is something magnificent about the British QUEEN and her monarchy. The ceremonial events of actual royal participation and her history I am counting on Prince William and QC Middleton to carry on the torch.
