Love learning those Vidal methods. Wish all schools were teaching them but alas. You are so down to earth and real. Thank You for sharing your knowledge with us as it helps greatly to make us better hairstylists.
Yes I wish hair schools had more Emphasised on precision. I am frilled you are enjoying the videos 👍🏻😁
I'd love to see a head sheet on your haircuts just to make sure I have the right idea. Thanks! Love the vids
Princess Pamela's World yes head sheets would be a great addition I will try and work it out for future videos l, I am glad you enjoyed it. 😁👍🏻
I agree head sheets +++
Liking the classic Sassoon techniques with your own modern twists. His legacy will never leave us. I love the YS Park diffuser too, I like the way it throws out heat without blowing the air out too much disturbing the hair whilst drying. Great work as usual thanks for sharing and keeping us in touch with education.
Shaun, Nottingham
Absolutely I think we will still be referencing in another 100 years or more. Yes the Y.S park diffuser is wicked and that is a perfect description of how it works. Cheers Shaun 👍🏻😁
Thanks a lot James, you have a gift to teach, go ahead with more videos, and don't forget to make a video with the scissors holding techniques. Thanks a lot
Mordecai Ribgy thank you I will certainly make more videos 😁👍🏻 and yes I will be making a video about holding scissors it should be a couple of weeks away 👍🏻
Im from denmark 🇩🇰

The modern Greek Goddess Pixie Haircut is really lovely. Thank you for the techniques.
You’re very welcome Kate glad you enjoyed it
@@TheLifeOfHair I did and I even tried it out on my Mum. My first try. I have a long way to go. I also showed her the video and loved it. She has always been a fan since the 60s. We go to their Academy into London but since Lockdown not possible. Thanks!
@@sunkat76 fantastic thanks for letting me know 👍🏻

Lots of love from South Africa💖
Wicked Annette super pleased you like it 😁👍🏻
Simply beautiful. An elegantly feminine look. Sharing with my stylist. You are an excellent teacher, demonstrator, and enthusiast.

Ruth O’Regan thank you very much 😁👍🏻
Omg ! Beautiful James!!!! More short hair cuts please ❤️
Thank you for sharing your talent 💋
My pleasure Simona ✌🏻
I approciate clean sections
Very very nice 👍
I did something similar to this on one of my heads
Previously permed, I kept that loose texture on front, top and back and skin tapered from the ears up and back in a C shape (I hate to call it a Mohawk shape lol)
I was thinking of someof the characters on Aeon Flux, I don’t know if you’ve seen the mtv cartoon and movie, it’s super futuristic. That was my inspiration 🌊
True story... the head was a level 5 highlighted heavy and my instructor said the color should be more futuristic as well, so I bleached it icy white and did a super violet purple ombré on the curls, I got a 💯 lol
Jonathon Thank you Jonathan, and your adaptation futuristic do sounds great well done 😁👌🏻
Very very wonderful.
I like it a lot 🙇👏💋💕😍💕
wicked gald you like it 😀👌🏻
Lovely ! Best regards , from California
Thank you very much
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful! Did you do the colour as well? I never would have guessed her hair had that much natural curl...perfect short cut for her. Thank you James! What yspark comb?
Heather G yes I did the colour, yes she has lovely hair texture, you are very welcome Heather. The comb is YS 337 😁👍🏻
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice
Thank you Patricia 😁👍🏻
Lovely look: I must have missed it but did you trim the length at all, especially thinking of the back?
Generally when I’m cutting a pixie cut I don’t specifically trim the length at the back the length is generally created by the overall layering pattern I might refine the length down freehand afterwards depending on the needs of the haircut and head shape
Lovely style will give it a try . James how about doing a razor cut? I use my razor but would love a refresh! Thanks Jacqui
Fantastic Jacqui, yes a wee Razor cut would be do able for sure, I might see if a friend of mine who is a razor geniuswiuld be up for doing a video for me 😁👍🏻
@@TheLifeOfHair Ooh great James, I love my razor but would love some new ideas and always great to brush up your skills! Thanks very much
Jacqui Byrne it’s May take me a while I arranged with him but I will definitely try my best 😁👍🏻
I have an appointment at sasoon's to cut my hair in a pixie, but I was thinking a shorter version. Would it still be called a pixie?
I saw your videos different types of pixie cut. how do you decide which cut will go on clients
Thank you very much for a great question but is quite a tricky want to answer this all intensive purposes. Each of the techniques that I use or produced similar results it’s about finding one of the techniques that works best for you.In terms of how you pick the best technique for your client was that is down to the consultation the length that you want to leave behind where you want to distribute the weight to is all personal obviously to the choice of the client will you get to understand the techniques that I have demonstrated in these videos the ETA you will be able to utilise them to create the shape is your clients once practice is king here my friend
Can this pixie be shorter?
It is beautiful haircut.James. You do not use clips at all. Jamie Melbourne Australia
Yes I do use clippers sometimes not that often though I trained with a Sassoon we didn’t really use clippers there I actually use clippers before I was with those guys that I was a barber to start with. Glad you enjoyed it
@@TheLifeOfHair Good morning James. How are you?It is so cold in Melbourne. How about there? My 2 senior hairdressers who I work with. They trained with Sassoon too.I like Sassoon way. Do you mind making a Princess Kates haircut video please? I watched Richard Ward on UA-cam. I cannot get it.I really like the haircut.
I just got a horrible “pixie”. Need to find a stylist trained through VS
Love the work fantastic haircut!! Just wondering what pair of shears are you using and for this style of cutting would you recommend crane handle for this technique of cutting? Have you ever experimented with a swivel and whats your take on that? Thank you again!
J Alexander Thank you, the Shears are Kasho XP 5.3 inch semi offset. I have a Variety of sizes styles but for short precision work I always go for straight semi offset 5 or 5.5 inch I’ve had swivel some scissors in the past well only one pair I like them, I sold them to a fellow stylist who developed RSI she loved them. Best J 😁👍🏻
@@TheLifeOfHair I'm exactly the same in having different sizes of scissors for different cuts. It tends to be mood related what size I use lol including the comb! What were your very first pair of scissors. Mine was a 4.5 " Joewell in a red box, I'd waited a Birthday and Christmas to get them. I'd love to try a Mizutani but I can't afford them at the moment. I love my Yasaka, Wings, Nic scissors.
Shaun C I can be a bit mood driven too lol My very first pair was a pair of Jaguar sisters are use those for the first year and then I saved up and bought myself some Kasho’s that I still have 5 inch straight ivories, Since then though I have bought so many pairs of scissors but I always love wings although at the moment I don’t actually only pair I sold both pairs that I had I have a review though coming up of the wings I still think they’re one of the best value for money scissors you can buy But my all-time go to scissors have kasho Millenniums 5,5 offset I’ve got them about 10 years ago and they’re the only pair of scissors that I’ve never bought and sold Well that’s not entirely true are used to have the 5.8 straits But I go A bit of a risk complaint So I swapped to 5.5 offset with a friend of mine But there are so many pairs as soon as I’d love to and when I go to salon this national in October I always buy new pair use them for a year or less and then sell them 😁👍🏻
@@shaunie57 I actually own a pair of Mizutani DB20's 5.7"; wanted to love these shears but they just never grew on me like they did amongst several other stylists I work with. Very sharp and powerful blade I will say that but; to my liking just felt like there was something missing; not sure exactly as to what it was but I did have to retire them very early unfortunately. With that being said never really crossed my mind till @The Life Of Hair mentioned about purchasing and selling shears; I would love to trade shears with anyone interested with a pair of shears in the similar ballpark price range wise as the Mizutani DB20's!
Or even purchasing the DB20's either would be fine with me!
What brand, length and style of shear are you using in this video pls?
Lisa these are Kasho millenniums 5.5 inch offset 😁👍🏻
Ab fab
Superb thank you.
I love watching you cut, it's like meditation. 😄Those sections are like hair porn. 🤩
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the comments with the word meditation and porn all in the same sentence but thank you very much I’m glad you enjoyed it 😁👍🏻
O
