Even nearly all of their demo titles didn't hit 4K natively, they do something like half that and use checkerboard rendering + AA to upscale it. I'm just so confused by this thing. Too early, too little. The 20% Jaguar CPU upclock is going to be the limit for making 30fps games 60fps too, you can double the GPU but if the CPU doesn't scale unless it was idle half the time it's not going to cut it.
Whole thing felt like an ad for 4K more than showing off a console. Basically they're just the guy at BestBuy listing off bullet point features of 4K to you.

To me 4k is something that's not worth buying into to play video games that already look good to begin with. He just announced that he's moving on to a new project though (leaving GameSpot), and therefore his last employed day in the office was Friday. His new thing starts Monday. All the GB stuff was in his free time and while it will probably be less frequent, he does plan to turn up once in a while as just a friend of the site (and continue Alt-F1).

This was kind of a uniformly terrible press conference - looked dark and bad, the game footage was underwhelming (and hard to discern a difference, which is the entire point), the talky bits with Sony people were awkward and bad, and they didn't bump the specs to compete with Scorpio next year. Makes me wonder if the pendulum is swinging back towards arrogant, unresponsive Sony already, after they course corrected leading up to the PS4. And a company that makes 4K TVs and owns movie studios/distributors, deciding not to include a drive for 4K UHD Blu-Ray movies? What were they thinking? I own both consoles, but unless PSVR wows me, I'm not sure if I'll bother to upgrade to this. And there's no way 4.2TF is pushing anything close to 4K graphics - even Scorpio's 6TF is going to be hard pressed. Christ, high end PC video cards can often struggle to push out true 4K graphics in modern games.
It was a business conference, not a flashy E3, TGS, Paris, PSX like affair. The understated nature was just right, this is an upgraded PS4, an addition to the PS4 ecosystem. The titles will be shown off at games trade shows & conferences. As for UHD BD, a quick glance at physical media's crashing sales, and UHD BD's lacking support across the industry, tells you the format will be fortunate to replicate Laserdisc's sales, nevermind Blu-ray or DVD.

I dont think its a 'dan' thing .. Its more a Single, Employed, Male (some female) thing. I remember the days when I was my only bill. I would pay my household bills then divy up the rest between food and electronics. People forget if you dont have a monthly bill of cigarettes, fast food, and or booze you can spend the same amount on fun stuff for you and it doesnt hurt.
Ha ha! This is true. I do love to spend my cash on rather "frivolous" things. I'm just saying I don't make a point to brag that I do. I've got friends in slightly tougher situations, more often than not for things completely outside their control. I suppose though, I'm a bit of a softy on that kind of stuff. But being kid-less does make it easier to just "buy this, buy that."

Not planning on getting a psPRO, my ps4 suits me fine and I don't have a 4k TV like the 90% of other console gamers......which is why scorpio is getting undeserved hype.....its just a beefed up ver. of psPRO, with no real exclusives, shit for games like the xbone and to enjoy the better visuals you need a 4k HDR TV worthy of gaming, with respectable input lag ratings.....4k is far from the norm is peoples living rooms at this pt.
