That's awesome, Jason reacted exactly how I did when Monster Hunter World came on. It looks amazing, the mechanics look really fun and fresh, maybe not completely fresh but refined to where it looks damn intriguing.
Ya, "Punisher is bad because he kills people" but Batman is better because the criminals he constantly arrests constantly escape and continue killing people. Okay, makes sense. Can't wait for that Netflix Punisher series.
The best example I can give for 4K is it looks like pc fully modded Skyrim vs vanilla Skyrim. Hair and clothing physics, better lighting, better meshes and textures. I played HZD 1080 tv and then with a new 4K tv and it really does look amazing with 4K.
How about announcing some new games? :-( The VR games were a mixed bag, that Bravo Team game looks extremely generic but Skyrim VR will keep me busy for a while
Not that I'm complaining, but why didn't they have multiple Stream of the conference from different sources running just in case 1 is experiencing issue?
It wasn't the stream. It was the internet in E3. Jeff was talking about this on a podcast. They (CBS) paid thousands of dollars for corporate internet in E3 for couple of days and the connection was shitting the bed.
I'm only like 15 minutes in on the video, but reading through the comments, people are not impressed. Last night, I was watching a RAW stream (yeah I know) and people who were watching both streams were all "Sony just won!" etc etc. Funny to see the stark contrast.
So they basically announced their big games too early, and now there is nothing left. That is a strategy.... not sure its the best one but there is still plenty to look forward to.
Yeah they didn't need to reveal the Last of Us 2, they could have held Spiderman from last year as well. Sony have a lot of games coming but we just know about them already. I did actually expect Bloodborne 2 though.
Damn, now each time I hear that new God of War theme I remember Austins Version from last year and it breaks my immersion ...God of war 4 God of war 4 God of war 4.....
No one gives a shit about Last of Us 2? I'm sure a LOT of PlayStation fanboys & girls would disagree w/you. And while it's true that Rockstar doesn't need E3 to create a news cycle for RDR2, it's a missed-opportunity from Sony to premiere it in their press-conference.
I don't think it's fair to write off that Mario game like that. It's kind of a big deal that Nintendo gave Ubisoft free reign and Ubisoft took a pretty big chance and made XCOM Mario! That game is probably what will get me to buy a switch
This is kind of unwatchable. Not just with the streaming problems, but with the little editing glitches of this video missing seconds/minutes throughout. Cmon Giantbomb...
This was a weird one. Don't even see the point of having the dead crowd there. They added nothing and actually detracted from the event. They might have well just made this a trailer streaming event with no physical press conf with the way they did it. It left me thinking how weird this event was and not the great looking games, especially Days Gone which I really liked. And that's not how one should leave these press conferences feeling.
So far xox is winning it for me , well we still got Nintendo left and I'm ready to see what they have to show , but from what we have got already not too bothered , so Xbox may have won this e3
I though the opposite. Xbox was bland, awkward, full of deceptive wording and very few ACTUAL exclusives. Bethesda was average at best. Ubisoft nailed it. Sony nailed it.
Was not impressed with Sony's presentation. Thought it was pretty lazy. The Spider-Man game was kinda neat, but that is about it. I hope Nintendo does better.
What did they nail exactly? It was an alright conference, but they still keep announcing/showing games with no release date for the sake of showing off.
All the games, all the time. Microsoft's backwards compatibility box takes this year's tech trophy, Sony again brings us the other 95% of things to come.
Wow that was shit. No FF7 Remake? No Last of us 2? No new JRPG's except for Ni No Kuni 2? What is a japan doing anymore? Monster Hunter World looked alright and the rest was boring garbage.
Not into these guys. Used to like Dan when he was with GI, but among these guys he's the best of the worst and that's not particularly hard to accomplish
If you work in the videogame industry and don't know which games have already been announced for a major platform (eg. Knack 2), then you're not doing your f**king job!
I never comment on these things but these guys are the worst. Are they even gamers? Why would I listen to these guys when half of them didn't even know there was a Spiderman movie coming out....
I feel like you guys arent into Sony games cuz whenever I checkout your impression of Sony press conference, you guys are always harsh. Last year was the best e3 i have watched and you guys werent very impressed either. Maybe there is a disconnect between you guys and the audience.
They weren't a fan of the structure last year but were optimistic about a lot of the games showed especially horizon zero dawn. They were all head over heels for it. I think because they are not screaming and flipping the table with excitement people get the feeling they are dull, people just handle excitement differently. Plus the number of times games at e3 turn out not so good is pretty high, it's understandable to be excited but cautious.
Last year was incredibly lackluster because close to every single game they had shown either DIDN'T have a release date or was very obviously not coming any time soon. Sony is very guilty of introducing games waaaaaay too early.
They get happy once in a while i think some of the fans told me its cause they have to look at stuff from a critical eye so its hard to enjoy spectacle for example like the spiderman one when they are thinking about how it will play and if the game will feel good. Honestly i think this is the one time they over though things. The spider man stuff will function the same as an uncharted 4 sequence...on rails but you wont really hate it for it and youll still have control. It will funnel you down a path. The showcase like that are meant to sell to general audiences not the gb team...that goes without saying that most presentations are just trying to impress general people not the pro critics. hope they cheer up thou. I know fans like them to not be in your face and happy all the time like youtubers but it can bum some people out with all the frowns and sighs
HowieGaming yeah that's exactly it, they've been in the biz for so long at this point. But also I think Dans distaste for the Quick Time events in Spider-Man is understandable, I dint think it will control like uncharted at all in those set pieces, it seems on rails besides the Button Prompts. Correct me if im wrong but I believe one of the cool parts of the spectacle in uncharted is that it DOESN'T use giant flashing button prompts and the player is in control almost the whole time. Holding the analog stick to move in a direction and pushing the jump or shooting button when appropriate without any prompt telling the player to do so. I think thats the biggest different. For spidey it looks like the only point of interaction is pushing the button they tell you at the right time which feels like an old dated game mechanic. Despite that though everything else in spidey looks amazing and Im super excited, these dudes also seem hyped for it too which is nice.
this conference sucked so bad 3 good games everything else crap with no one to setup the trailers to give them contexts or details of cool features in game
This is my absolute favorite group of gaming journalists.
For the confused, the actual conference begins at 1:03:10
it needs upvote
Holy molly, confused I was indeed.
Jason reacting at 1:21:17 was the entire MonHun community tonight
0:00 - 3:00 if you just want Lockdown
The duder's theme.
That sigh at 51:49 made watching this entire stream worthwhile.
That's awesome, Jason reacted exactly how I did when Monster Hunter World came on. It looks amazing, the mechanics look really fun and fresh, maybe not completely fresh but refined to where it looks damn intriguing.
This is a really fun way to watch the way Sony did it with the beginning before the conference and them commenting on it.
Thanks for the quick turnaround.
lol I love how Jeff keeps going back to the Spider-Man post credits scene
Guess I'm a bad person because I love The Punisher. He doesn't mess around.
Then I am too.
The Punisher is kickass.
Punisher: War Zone is a damned fine action film. I could watch it every day.
Ya, "Punisher is bad because he kills people" but Batman is better because the criminals he constantly arrests constantly escape and continue killing people. Okay, makes sense.
Can't wait for that Netflix Punisher series.
Point Man I think that's more a problem with the Blackgate and Arkham prisons.
The Punisher is a bad role-model because he doesn't think twice about traumatizing innocent bystanders with his visceral escapades U_U
1:38:24 Guys, they love me.
The best example I can give for 4K is it looks like pc fully modded Skyrim vs vanilla Skyrim. Hair and clothing physics, better lighting, better meshes and textures.
I played HZD 1080 tv and then with a new 4K tv and it really does look amazing with 4K.
"Go to Hell: Retribution"
Edit: Holy shit, those MvCI cutscenes look like absolute ass
Wow, that Spider-Man game actually looks like a game compared to the recent past ones.
Clearly this E3 has taken its toll on them. They all look exhausted!
ITS A LOCK DOWN BABY
This Sony press conference is the reason I want Microsoft to come back up and compete. Sony isn't even trying this year
During the spiderman extra 5 second sequence at the end, it actually shows Miles Morales
I have to admit the only thing that has excited me from the entire E3 this year is Ages of Empires 1 HD remake
Jason is one of us
still waiting for deep down to come out :/
They went way too heavy on the cinematics for this one.
Balrog said this is set hundreds of years after GOW 3.
1:52:30 it's not Nidhogg, it's Jörmungandr.
1:03:20 start of the non-Preshow part of the show.
How about announcing some new games? :-(
The VR games were a mixed bag, that Bravo Team game looks extremely generic but Skyrim VR will keep me busy for a while
looking forward to seal clubbing VR with the smell generator.
Not that I'm complaining,
but why didn't they have multiple Stream of the conference from different sources running just in case 1 is experiencing issue?
doe3879 Doesn't help when your source of Internet is having problems.
It wasn't the stream. It was the internet in E3. Jeff was talking about this on a podcast. They (CBS) paid thousands of dollars for corporate internet in E3 for couple of days and the connection was shitting the bed.
Is that the next slogan? "4k's ok, 8's great!". . . .
I experienced Jason's exact emotions when I saw the MH trailer.
Holy shit, that audience.
I'm only like 15 minutes in on the video, but reading through the comments, people are not impressed. Last night, I was watching a RAW stream (yeah I know) and people who were watching both streams were all "Sony just won!" etc etc. Funny to see the stark contrast.

Yeah they didn't need to reveal the Last of Us 2, they could have held Spiderman from last year as well. Sony have a lot of games coming but we just know about them already. I did actually expect Bloodborne 2 though.
Wasn't just you guys, my stream dropped out like 10-15 times
So annoying
No Devil May Cry? Why god
29:50 Guy is hyped for E3!
Damn, now each time I hear that new God of War theme I remember Austins Version from last year and it breaks my immersion
...God of war 4 God of war 4 God of war 4.....
No Last of Us 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2 on stage?
Weird.
Their saving it for psx obviously
No one gives a shit about Last of Us 2?
I'm sure a LOT of PlayStation fanboys & girls would disagree w/you.
And while it's true that Rockstar doesn't need E3 to create a news cycle for RDR2, it's a missed-opportunity from Sony to premiere it in their press-conference.
Nintendo have better have something new. The Switch lineup is lookin pretty bare. And by new I don't mean ANOTHER glorified port of a Wii U game
I thought Ubisoft had a pretty solid lineup
I don't think it's fair to write off that Mario game like that. It's kind of a big deal that Nintendo gave Ubisoft free reign and Ubisoft took a pretty big chance and made XCOM Mario! That game is probably what will get me to buy a switch
i got your monster of the deep right here
4:00
This is kind of unwatchable. Not just with the streaming problems, but with the little editing glitches of this video missing seconds/minutes throughout. Cmon Giantbomb...
THERE...ARE...TWO...KNACKS!
Crash (1-3) was, no, ARE awesome
These guys are so confused about Spider-Man lol
Riot gear fuck yeah!
I enjoyed the conference. looking forward to monhun
2:02:52 WTF happened?
Web 'em up.
whats with the dislikes????
I assume because of the outage.
did u watch it? their internet broke like 5 times
what, why do you think NAT was the issue? I doubt their public IP changed during the press conference.
Take a drink every time Dan asks a question..
I miss Austin Walkers laugh... :(
Squad.
The awkward silence after Ben says anything.
It's weird, ben is like old dan. Makes dan look reasonable, mah heart D:
1:03:53 look at the dude in the bottom left
Ned Flanders he fall asleep. guy next to Vinny
This conference was terrible. Just a joke. What a waste of time. Also, is the Nintendo Direct thing gonna be longer than Sony's conference?
MH World *Tears away shirt&pants*
You guys are giving Sony way too much credit this conference sucked so badly and that guy was right it was SEVERELY UNDERWELLMING
This is like MST3K but better
So far xox is winning it for me , well we still got Nintendo left and I'm ready to see what they have to show , but from what we have got already not too bothered , so Xbox may have won this e3
I though the opposite.
Xbox was bland, awkward, full of deceptive wording and very few ACTUAL exclusives.
Bethesda was average at best.
Ubisoft nailed it.
Sony nailed it.
mrmarvel8 Sony by far did not nail it and Ubisoft nailed it for what they usually do ,
Ned Flanders no one has nailed it and I doubt Nintendo , but mostly everyone has done well
Was not impressed with Sony's presentation. Thought it was pretty lazy. The Spider-Man game was kinda neat, but that is about it. I hope Nintendo does better.
Shadow of the Colossus and Monster Hunter were kinda the best things for me. And I don't like Monster Hunter
microsoft was better
Damn! Sony nailed it with this conference. So many great games!
These guys though, they are such a bunch of Negative-Nancy's.
Lighten up fellas.
Are you being sarcastic? I can't tell?
What did they nail exactly? It was an alright conference, but they still keep announcing/showing games with no release date for the sake of showing off.
You fanboys are the worst.
All the games, all the time. Microsoft's backwards compatibility box takes this year's tech trophy, Sony again brings us the other 95% of things to come.
But.. 95% of that 95% is the same stuff they had last year... except.. less? Microsoft brought the games this year.
Ben is actually kind of annoying
I couldn't care less for spider man
Wow that was shit. No FF7 Remake? No Last of us 2? No new JRPG's except for Ni No Kuni 2? What is a japan doing anymore? Monster Hunter World looked alright and the rest was boring garbage.
There's like 0 reason to talk about ff7. That game is years away.
Not into these guys. Used to like Dan when he was with GI, but among these guys he's the best of the worst and that's not particularly hard to accomplish
Jason is only going to be hurt when he realizes that monster hunter game is geared for "western" audiences
Matt Hall - Good.
Matt Hall I'm from the future. You're wrong
If you work in the videogame industry and don't know which games have already been announced for a major platform (eg. Knack 2), then you're not doing your f**king job!
MDub All hail our lord and Savior knack!
Are you a member of the Knack 2 developer team?
I never comment on these things but these guys are the worst. Are they even gamers? Why would I listen to these guys when half of them didn't even know there was a Spiderman movie coming out....

I think their attitude is beneficial: when these guy smile and tell you something's really good, it means it's REALLY good.
HowieGaming yeah that's exactly it, they've been in the biz for so long at this point. But also I think Dans distaste for the Quick Time events in Spider-Man is understandable, I dint think it will control like uncharted at all in those set pieces, it seems on rails besides the Button Prompts. No kingdom hearts. Total fail
I don't like Ben Pack
Squad.
