What is your favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan song?
"Life Without You", live at Capitol theater is my favorite SRV performance. Just mind blowing.
@@darkomtobia I'll add it to the list
Two of my favorites are Voodoo Chile from the same concert as this song, and Texas Flood live at the El Mocambo.
@@deoncruywagen5191 I think the first SRV video I reacted to on here was Voodoo Chile
Life with out you
If you haven't seen his performance of "Texas Flood" live at the Mocambo, you should! My personal favorite song is "Pride and Joy". I lived in Austin in the 80's & 90's; the crying, mourning and dark disbelief throughout the city following his death lasted for weeks. He and four others were killed in a helicopter which was taking them to the airport after the Alpine Valley show. Conditions were foggy and it is believed the pilot miscalculated the elevation, causing the hillside crash.
I can imagine the impact that was left. I wonder where SRV would be today. I did react to Texas Flood, but I can't remember when the reaction is scheduled to drop.
@@AceofBadeReacts Thanks, I'll watch for it!
@@ellet6560 For sure
Double Trouble, Stevie’s band, started out with Chris “Whipper” Layton on drums, and Tommy Shannon on bass. For the making of their third album, Stevie added Reece Wynans on keyboards. Great move! Keep doing Stevie, he’s very popular again, thanks to the reaction channels. Check out “Voodoo Child” from this same concert, Austin 1989. Thanks!
@@Donnagilbert6497 For sure. I actually did react to Voodoo Child, although I left the title as Chile. I just haven't linked the playlist yet. Working on that now
My favorite SRV song is “Tightrope”, followed closely by “Life by the Drop”, followed closely by every other song he played. Reece is in my opinion the best blues keyboard player ever so it was fitting that he played with Stevie who was the goat.
He plays with Joe Bonamassa who I believe is the current best blues guitarist.
Ooh I'll add those to the list. I've heard of tightrope, but not the other one. Joe sounds familiar, but I don't think I've heard anything by him.
A little spoiler for a future video, but there's a 3rd John Mayer song I reacted to with patweston where I could have sworn he was SRV reincarnated
This was recorded at Austin City Limits TV studio and was his second appearance there. ACL is the longest running PBS show ever and still going strong. Reese Wynans on the keyboards joined Double Trouble in August of 1985 and brought his immense talent to the already massively talented group. This whole concert was 🔥💯. For more keyboarding from Reese check out Mary Had a Little Lamb from this same concert🎶🎸
I was not aware ACL was on PBS. I figured it was just a place. I have heard they played that song and it is now on the list. I am quite curious about it
@@AceofBadeReacts yes Mary Had A Little Lamb is a funky rendition first rearranged by the great Buddy Guy who was one of Stevie's good friends and guitar mentors. It is a blast to hear/watch🎸🎶💯. My all time favorite song is a Stevie original called Riveria Paradise created after his own rehab and recovery. He dedicates it to all those still suffering in any way. It is simply exquisite and impeccable🎶💯. The piano solo from Reece is next level on this one too.🎹🎹🎹. And that beat up guitar he is playing is his favorite one and is referred to as #1. Stevie also referred to it as his first wife. When asked why he said because she screams for me not at me😘‼️. You can't go wrong sticking with this whole concert~
Not a plane a helicopter crash😢. He called the ugly guitar his 1st wife and it was ugly when he traded for it. "Tin Pan Alley" SRV and Johnny Copeland is so cold blooded. They actually did 3 songs together @ that concert and all 3 are lit 🔥🔥
You know I was probably thinking of another artist I had just reacted to before this reaction. What were the other 2 songs SRV and Johnny did together?
"A slow point in the solo?"....you CAN'T be serious! If u want a song where all 4 band members get solos try Couldn't Stand the Weather...also from this same Austin City Limits '89 taping.
I mean he literally started slowing down. But yes Couldn't Stand the Weather is on the list
Reese Wynans was the keyboardist. He came onboard later in the group part called Double Trouble... Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe. Oh yeah, have a great Christmas, or holiday of your choice.
Is Double Trouble still together?
I really don't know.
That ending was actually the beginning of another song, Couldn't Stand The Weather if I'm not mistaken
Ah I see. I don't know if I've heard that one yet. I think it's on the list
That was Stevie's number one guitar. It's a 1957 Stratocaster
It's such an awesome looking guitar
Always up for SRV! Anything from his performance at the Capital Theatre in 1985 is fire!!
For sure. I don't think I have reacted to anything from Capital Theatre for SRV yet, but I think that is going to be one of the next ones
Reese winans was a later edition to double trouble and he now plays with Joe bonamassa. Chris Layton on drums and Tommy Shannon on base have been with Stevie since nearly the beginning of Stevie's career
I don't know if I've heard the history of Double Trouble before
Not many people recommend it, but Wham from the El Mocambo is worth a listen to. No singing but those ~4 minutes are pretty crazy.
Wham like Careless Whisper Wham or it's a SRV song?
@AceofBadeReacts sorry for the very late reply, Wham is originally a Lonnie Mack song but SRV covered it at the El mocambo
So many good songs and Cold Shot is one of them! I like Couldn't Stand the Weather very much! (Austin 1989).
There are a lot to pick from. I added that one to the list
React to his sing Look At Little Sister from the same concert in Austin. You WILL NOT be disappointed !
I thought I had reacted to that one in the past, but I don' think I did (different channel, long story). I'll add it to the list
@@AceofBadeReactsthe best little sister is with SRV and Jeff Healy he's blind. Mind blowing performance
@@blxgrl I've seen Jeff Healy once a few months ago. I meant to react to something else of his and never got around to it. I'll definitely add it to the list now
He traded for it was like that when he got it. #1 or as he refrilled to as his first wife. He hired the keyboard play 4 years ago. ❤❤ My Sweet Brother. ❤❤ Greatest Guitar that ever lived! Bar None!! ❤❤
I was born in the wrong year
80's ? Its called the blues ma'am. 50' 60's 70's 80's and beyond . Lets get with the program .
She was referring to the quality of the video, not the genre of the music. The video just has an 80s feel and look to it
Srv in japan tin pan alley AND dirty pool, masterpiece
I don't think I've checked out SRV playing in Japan yet. I'll add those to the list
Thats right, not supposed to stop in a solo. See ya
k
Don't no what part of Texas y'all are from but here in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area and SRV city of South Dallas Oakcliff Tx and the world no s how Great he was . He is the Goat !!!! Do your homework
Don't know what you mean by do your homework, but I know SRV was born in Oakcliff and that he's one of the greatest guitarists of all time
Helicopter Crash.
Yeah that's my bad. There's a lot of artists that pass away from helicopter and plane crashes I tend to mix it up sometimes by accident
Helicopter crash
Correct. I misspoke
