Nailed it with this review. I bought this truck and agree 100%. It is a great rig for scale driving. The plastic grommets absolutely need glue, and yes the rear axle has slop/noise.
I've been longing for the the IFS in a scale IFS vehicle. I hate how so many scale vehicles have the wrong suspension for what they are. Would love to see someone make pickup truck kits that are IFS front and leaf rear just for some scale greatness. Not really any OEM vehicles are triangulated 4 links and what not. Would be cool if this was a 5 link rear like the real 4Runner.
Just picked one of these up. Overall happy with it, but I would suggest your first upgrade being slightly larger tires. The ground clearance on this little beast is pretty bad out of the box compared to something like, say... The Redcat Gen 8 Scout II. I found myself getting high centered on just about everything under the sun this afternoon where the guys I was out with had no issue with their crawlers. One of which being the previously mentioned Gen 8.
This does have the design of the gen 5 4Runner. If I had one of these or get a clear body of this (someday) I can slap some toyota badges and make it look like the TRD Pro
Cool vid and rig! I've been using my 1/10 baja rey (straight axle rear with IFS front) with fully locked diffs as a crazy trail truck/rock racer and it's super fun. I wonder if Traxxas will release a 1/10th scale straight axle rear IFS front vehicle?
Love the Rock Rey, finished up building one over the winter. The Proline Hyrax SCTXL tires work well for me and give it a Side by side appearance, rather than a rock bouncer
Nice1 Greg as usual, I really enjoy your reviews! I picked one up the only issue I have it seems the entire truck has been setup in reverse and is faster backwards than forwards out of the box? trying to get my head around it. I dont recall you mentioning this is the review - steering and throttle is reversed.
Great, gonna be picking one of these up. Nice spot bro, I was wondering where the mountain were??? didn’t know you were standing on top of it lol. The only issue is for the price is it should come with inner fender liners. Still really great rig though
It looks like it could be, but I was actually having a very hard time removing the stock bumper last night. It looks like it holds in with just 4 of those push circle things on pegs, but when I got them all removed it felt like the bumper might have been glued in place. I wasn't expecting that. I'm trying to find a video of someone on UA-cam removing it so I can see if there actually is glue holding it.
Well, it's tough. To make it look as good as the SCX10.3, it would need inner fenders, proper light buckets, and an interior. Even then, it's still an unlicensed body.
Great job as usual. Had to laugh regarding the "warm" servo. I did not baby my Trailwalker enough in the rocks and the servo let me know by burning up inside. Something I was going to replace anyway, as you suggest.
Yeah, this video was shot last week. The servo is still working, but I’ve been mostly trail hiking. I think a servo swap will come sooner if I start stressing the rig on some rocks.
@@rcdriver I also agree on the ESC and low-speed descending. Had it felt a tad more precise I would have kept it (gave it 3 months) because it's almost there. A certain ESC known by four digits spoils you for anything else.
new to Rc crawlers. I noticed my new element trail runner has the red and black cables connected different. In the vid they are connected red to red and black to black. Can I pull on the cables to unplug and connect them as shown in 9:53?
Probably but the thing closest to the ground is the bash plate. Also if they where to raise it they would have to change the universal joint to a cv joint which is a little more expensive and might require more service. They would also have to find a way to widen the cv axle from the diff to the wheels to keep the final drive smooth.
Interesting, but Element missed some needed stuff: no body posts, no inner fender liners, no scale interior & it doesn't appear the front tires are lined up in the wheel wells. The accessories are nice, but I'll hold off on this one.
I feel like if those are decals on the windows,I could trim around the molding and make the fronts a little more clear 🤔 but great looking truck honestly.
It actually does better than expected my friend bought one upgraded it to 1.9 wheels and 4.19 tires still doesn't keep up with my sport but very impressive rig
Can you fit a 5200 3s battery in these and how long would it last im looking for a 2-3 hr trail walker that keeps up with my walking just to drive around all day
Hard Parts? - Are all of the Hard Parts that we have had to buy extra$ now standard/pre-installed on this TrailRunner or do they only use a few hard parts here and there? Lexan Body - Is it a thicker like the trailwalker or brittle like senduro? Thank you.
Im looking for a modern 4Runner RC to match my truck, this seems to be the only one that isnt a retro 4Runner. Disappointed its a trail truck not a crawler and lack of wheel wells at that price. Id probably prefer a 1/24 if it was available but everyone seems to make jeeps!
I've owned a original scx10 rtr a original wraith rtr an rc4wd trail truck kit 4 link not sure what one and a trx4 not sure what I'll get now but this and a wraith 1.9 rtr or maybe the smt10 convert to a mud truck with the tractor tire mud grabbers
Ok man I have a few questions so I’m sorry for bothering but I’m new to rc world so I been looking around at these crawlers and I was wondering can you make them faster if I ever wanted to and if so is it as simple as bigger batteries like I hear folks talk about 4s and 6s and also what would you recommend for someone that wants something fun and exciting but I don’t want to spend 500 bucks on my first real rc. I want a crawler but I would also love to be able to drive it a fast speeds at Times
Carisma makes the F-150 you were looking at. The SCA-1E is a great platform. Gmade makes the GS02 Komodo Double Cab which comes with a Raptor type body.
I broke two ring and pinion in my Sendaro(broke easily which was odd). Finally just swapped out axles to Boom Racing Badass AR44. So much stronger now. Much happier with the strength and extra weight makes it climb incredible. Steers better too if you can believe that.
It really needs some decals. Other than that that white body looks good 👌 And solid front axel is in the box 😳👌 Well done element 👍 I just build my element kitt. Its my first 1/10 crawler and i can wait to run it 😁
Yup, I talk a lot! Video timeline in the description for those who like to skip around. 😁
I watch the whole thing.....could miss the deal breaker that would make me say NO! not doing it. Great review man
KRAVEN KRAWL HOBBY Thanks! Some people just like the action so I figured I’d give them the time key to get there.
I think it would’ve been a home run if they did injection molded headlights. Those stickers look so bad.
Nailed it with this review. I bought this truck and agree 100%. It is a great rig for scale driving. The plastic grommets absolutely need glue, and yes the rear axle has slop/noise.
Is it just me or do the headlight stickers look super derpy?
They could have used a little more love in the design phase. 😄
I hope someone 3d prints headlights for this thing lol
I am really speech less, this thing is a beauty. Element RC out did them selves 👍
I did an ifs colorado and love it. I see a few things I'll pick up from element once the parts are available. Thank you for the awesome reviews.

Super nice rig looks fairly capable!!
This rig gets the thumbs up!! I likes.
AE for Life! 😍Home Run from Element! 👍🏼
Wow. I will definitely be getting one as soon as its available
Seems a shame that they include all those accessories but they don't have an option for light buckets.
Agreed, so many scale goodies, buckets would have been nice. Bet Knight Customs will have a fix for this.
Probably knight customs would come out with that
that was my first thought as well I know knight customs definately will make a yota grill and buckets still would have been nice to be included

Looks way better with the option bumper
This does have the design of the gen 5 4Runner. If I had one of these or get a clear body of this (someday) I can slap some toyota badges and make it look like the TRD Pro
This seems like a pretty good buy if ur into trail trucks and have the cash
I'd really like this with an actual truck body on it. All newer half ton trucks are IFS and solid rear axle.
Yeah if they could scale down the size and cost of their big short course replica truck that'd be awesome.
Love the Rock Rey, finished up building one over the winter.
The Proline Hyrax SCTXL tires work well for me and give it a Side by side appearance, rather than a rock bouncer
Isn't the UDR IFS and straight rear axle? They should make a 10th scale UDR chassis and change the body to something Ford or Chevy licensed.
Doesnt the traxxas UDR already fit that bill?
Second.... 🤣 Great video, Greg!
Thanks Rich!
12.3 body?
Nice1 Greg as usual, I really enjoy your reviews! I picked one up the only issue I have it seems the entire truck has been setup in reverse and is faster backwards than forwards out of the box? trying to get my head around it. I dont recall you mentioning this is the review - steering and throttle is reversed.
I have a trailwalker and the shocks leak as bad as an old Chevy lol but I love it. Nice rig super cool looking.
Great, gonna be picking one of these up. Nice spot bro, I was wondering where the mountain were??? didn’t know you were standing on top of it lol. The only issue is for the price is it should come with inner fender liners. Still really great rig though
Yeah, it was about an hour hike up to the top, pretty neat spot called Steep Rock in CT.
Is the front bumper situation reversible?
It looks like it could be, but I was actually having a very hard time removing the stock bumper last night. It looks like it holds in with just 4 of those push circle things on pegs, but when I got them all removed it felt like the bumper might have been glued in place. I wasn't expecting that. Great running video, like your videos cause there's less mug and more truck :)
how fast could you make this truck? I would like to make it more of a prerunner with 30-35ish mph in mind!!!
As fast as you want, just motor swap it to whatever you wany but beware this isn't made for doing 35mph you WILL break drivetrain parts.
It’s made for trail use lol, you can change the motor, esc, battery to make it faster if you wanted to.
Wow! Element is really stepping up their game!
Yup, lots of cool factors in this kit.
I’d like to see the suspension at speed... nice looking truck
Great video, are the gears in the rear axle, transmission, and IFS all metal gears? Cheers
How fast are these. How do they handle in grass? Can they go fast???
Love the IFS, kudos to the guys at, Element RC. Would have bought one if it had a clear body.
Well, it's tough. To make it look as good as the SCX10.3, it would need inner fenders, proper light buckets, and an interior. Even then, it's still an unlicensed body.
is it possible to fit some beefier tires? great review
its surprising what it'll do
Definitely a cool truck
Nice
That's good for someone who own a Toyota 4Runner. They just need to get the stickers.
Great job as usual. Had to laugh regarding the "warm" servo. I did not baby my Trailwalker enough in the rocks and the servo let me know by burning up inside. Something I was going to replace anyway, as you suggest.

Never mind, I figured it out
Excellent review and running vid.
I like the chasis but the body is kinda cheeeezy.
That IFS looks good on it, but isn't a bit too low? Couldn't they have looked for a way to raise a little bit off the ground?
Probably but the thing closest to the ground is the bash plate. Also if they where to raise it they would have to change the universal joint to a cv joint which is a little more expensive and might require more service. Is the reedy SC480X ESC Associated’s own new ESC it looks like the hoobystar ESC?
I know I’m late but is this waterproof
So if this is supposed to be a 1/10 scale 4 runner does that make it a .4 runner?
Can this be a desert runner??, nice vid!
I’m really interesting in independent suspensions hmmm👌
Aside from the front suspension, does this RC share the same parts as the Element RC Sendero and Trailwalker?
Interesting looking rig. How would you compare its performance to the TRX-4 Sport?
It actually does better than expected my friend bought one upgraded it to 1.9 wheels and 4.19 tires still doesn't keep up with my sport but very impressive rig
Very cool!
What is a good brushless motor that could be placed in this rig? And what if any gears ⚙️ need to be replaced
I'm in CT in Stamford I'd love to crawl on that terrain! I've just got woods around me I have a video if you want to check it out!
This or a trx4 sport????
Can you fit a 5200 3s battery in these and how long would it last im looking for a 2-3 hr trail walker that keeps up with my walking just to drive around all day
I want one!
I don't think with the ifs you get enough clearance. But it's a cool new release for sure. 👍
Haha that intro
Hard Parts? - Are all of the Hard Parts that we have had to buy extra$ now standard/pre-installed on this TrailRunner or do they only use a few hard parts here and there?
Lexan Body - Is it a thicker like the trailwalker or brittle like senduro?
Thank you.
From watching the video, it doesn't have the hard parts. However, body is thicker than Sendaeo.
If it had came out green, it would have been an almost extra replica. Of my supervisors 4runner TRD PRO.
What is the best overdrive and what u do I try crawling and it hits the mm um er everytime
Iv been planning to do a Enduro IFS build with the Metric body because i wanted a IFS Toyota.. i think i just changed my mind lol
LOL! Yup, all ready for you in one box.
@@rcdriver no kidding! lol this release just saved me so much money. Great review brother, keep up the awsome work!
When will this be fully released? I cant seem to find a date lol
Mid June. Element is very active on Instagram.
Ryan rkj after more research the closest I see is the 30th
It seriously needs inner fender and the inside of the body painted so it doesn't have a plastic-translucent look.
I have one question before I purchase this rig do you know if it comes with all the hard plastic upgrades or not?
From what I read on Amain, it does.
And also have you ever heard of gmade I was looking at a 1976 f150
Carisma makes the F-150 you were looking at. The SCA-1E is a great platform. Gmade makes the GS02 Komodo Double Cab which comes with a Raptor type body.
🤔traxxas trx4 sport or this beauty🤔
I have a Trailwalker (with IFS), and I still pick it up whenever I hear the rear axle because I think something broke...
I broke two ring and pinion in my Sendaro(broke easily which was odd). Finally just swapped out axles to Boom Racing Badass AR44. So much stronger now. Much happier with the strength and extra weight makes it climb incredible.
Steers better too if you can believe that.
Looks like a Toyota 4-Runner
You will lose those small plastic rings holding mirrors, snorkel etc. on if you dont use some glue or melt them on.
Greg, did they put the RC Driver stickers in this version? If they didn't that's real lame of them. Disappointing actually.
But can I "go ahead" and drive my car before I go ahead and go ahead?
well made video - only on an RC that I am unable to care less about.
Can you do a rc csr giveaway for me
$389.00 🤕 good for scale build I guess tho.
Aaaaarghhh my eyes!! MY EYES!!!
Well it looks like its suppose to be a 4runner
Second
So it looks like a Toyota forerunner
First
oh boy, the truck is nice but the radio is SO ugly!
White. White! Why 😀 Thats not even a real colour 😀
It’s a blank canvas for the decals 😁
It really needs some decals. Other than that that white body looks good 👌 And solid front axel is in the box 😳👌 Well done element 👍 I just build my element kitt. Its my first 1/10 crawler and i can wait to run it 😁
