I'm a conservative Christian. I say "yes". We are all sinners. We will be sinners until we die. Pray for forgiveness and seek to be righteous but know you will never make it. Christ did it for you. Trust in Christ.
Being a conservative is irrelevant. This idea you agree with, leads people to hell. The sexual immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God. Unless they repent, and turn from the ways of the world, ie. Homosexuality.

@ I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) by the State in which I live who counsels from a biblical worldview. Most of my clients are not believers and many do not want “biblical” counseling, so I meet them where they are, as long as I do not violate my own beliefs. For example, I’m not going to work with a gay person who is wanting “couples counseling” or a married person who is wanting to justify and stay in an adulterous relationship. Thank you for asking. 😊

The dilemma I see is that because I am licensed by the State, I am restricted in how I navigate the session regarding faith. I am currently praying about surrendering my License so that I would no longer be restricted and could freely share the gospel more openly. The problem then becomes, I will not have the exposure to as many lost people because many of my referrals come from doctors. There are certainly pros and cons.

We must renounce by an act of our wills anything in our lives that goes against the Word of God in Jesus Name and repent with a true godly sorrow which leads to salvation yielding to and trusting the Holy Spirit to complete the good work begun in us at salvation. If we don't hate our sins, we will never experience victory over them. The problem with those who continually have "feelings" for same sex attraction is that they have not truly repented. I don't believe that's true. Attraction isn't a switch people can just flip one way or the other. Can a truly straight person, if they wanted, just flip a switch and suddenly desire their own sex? No. Alisa explained it well. A temptation may never fully go away, just like alcoholics, even when saved, may continue being tempted to partake of alcohol. It doesn't make them less saved. It's the cross they are taking up every day, as she worded it. You continue relying on Jesus, and He continues giving you victory over it. It becomes easier the more you follow His will, but that doesn't mean the temptation is guaranteed to go away. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan. To say our old temptations completely fall away and we become immune to them is like saying we somehow become better than Jesus, that Satan can no longer try to lure us away from God's path. That's just not true. Our flesh will ALWAYS desire things of the world; that is the nature of our human bodies, and Satan will ALWAYS appeal to them to try to weaken us and pull us away from Jesus. Jesus and the Holy Spirit give us the fortitude to stand against our flesh and forsake its desires, to instead follow the Word and Will of God.
@@SkiesTurnedGrey The Holy Spirit can only work in our lives when we first repent and renounce a sin/stronghold or an unrighteous lifestyle in our lives in the Name of Jesus and lay it down by an act of our wills trusting in the power of the blood and the Holy Spirit to DELIVER us from the hold it has on our lives. I believe that God saves to the UTTERMOST when we are born again becoming a new creation in Christ. As we renew our minds with the Word of God, He can cause us to hate our sin and give us the FREEDOM and YICTORY over these strongholds. I don't believe God wants us to be burdened by certain sins during our lives, but He came to set the captives free and free indeed. Sanctification is a process, and we must not give up and settle but keep fighting the fight of faith until the victory comes.

Very scriptural and good Alisa, we have to be sure that we do not take on the world views, but always look to what our creator God says in His Holy written Word. The trouble with modern technology is that the concept of the family bible has been lost, and reading from a designated bible is much more powerful.

Is "same-sex attaction" (without action) a sin? (my church is struggling with this question)
Being gay in a way that matters in a biblical worldview is a continuing refusal to stop action. People are made to love and be loved by God, including the same-sex attracted. That is what people are. People are not gay in a way that matters as an identity. Some people act gay sometimes, which is not a disqualification from loving and being loved by God, regardless of how bigoted people are. Being continuously intolerant is disqualifying.
It depends on what you do with those feelings. If those thoughts come into your mind and you let them fly on by and don’t engage with them, then it’s not a sin. If you let yourself fall into those thoughts or lean into those like daydreams, then we are sinning. We are coveting something that goes out of God’s design for us. And we are maybe using that as a coping strategy for handling stress instead of going to God or leaning on other believers for support.

@@selahr. Yes, exactly. I would say that is true of anything or anyone we are attracted to. Whether it be same sex, opposite sex, money, material possessions, having children... anything. I can want something and ask God for it, but then need to hand it over to Him with the attitude "but ONLY if it is your will". Otherwise it would indeed be coveting. So yes, ANY single person may end up celibate and single. Jesus, facing the greatest struggle anyone has ever faced still said “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
Of course gay people can be and are Christians, and it's not contingent upon them changing their orientation.

What is your advice for someone who is in a same sex “marriage” with children who is a Christian? What is the proper way forward? Should they divorce? Should they just continue living together as roommates?
They aren't true believer's, I know it sounds harsh, but it's true. Repentance is turning from evil. So if people involved in a same sex marriage, came to Christ, they would leave that situation. The Scripture is quite clear that that's an unnatural relationship.
What is to be done depends on the people and the exact situation. The most likely situation is that one of the "couple" would find Christ and the other wouldn't. Since there are children and since the Powers that Be have recognized the marriage, the law would have to be brought in to ajudicaate. Ideally, the 'believer' would try to be salt and light to both the children as well as the other partner. However, the new believer might find such a situation beyond their ability to cope with. Their first priority would have to be to protect themselves against being dragged back into the quagmire.
Nothing is impossible with God. Some of the most amazing saints I've met or known--and I have met several--came from LGBTQ lifestyles. "He who has been forgiven much loves much. He who has been forgiven little loves little." While children make things more complicated, God has to be obeyed. This act of obedience to God coupled with maintaining a parental role in the life of the children, can serve as a profound testimony to the children to the holiness, mercy, and the power of God when they become old enough to understand. A lot of prayer is needed here, and that person needs to be involved with a Christian fellowship that loves them unconditionally--and by extension their children--and will pray for them. They need people around them who will pray and not doubt. May God have His way and be glorified in this situation. PS.There are many people that were powerfully delivered out of gay or trans lifestyles who have Biblically based ministries and/or have written books to help others. Two that come to mind are Joe Dallas and Becket Cook. Both are on FaceBook.
Since a believer is to flee from sexual immorality, they should seek to get out of that relationship and both parties should provide for the children with shared custody.

Jesus died on the cross, so we no longer have to pay a penalty for our sin, IF we believe He did this for us, and if we repent and turn from our sin. If God is truly the Lord and Saviour of your life, He will convict you of sin in your life. This is a process He uses in our lives called sanctification. If you never feel sorrow over the inevitable times of sin, then you may want to check and see if you truly repented. God will always convict true believers that their sin is not something God will ignore. He wants us to be daily growing to become more like Him.

I recently was talking to a local vicars husband...... They don't agree with homosexuality as being good but used the'gay Christian ' expression and I explained why it wasn't correct. Same sex attracted. No such thing as a gay Christian.... It's like saying I'm an alcoholic Christian etc. Ridiculous!

I’d like to suggest some vocabulary that might be helpful - our “fallen nature” vs our “original nature”.
Due to the Fall of Man, which was when the angel Lucifer, symbolized by a snake, tempted Eve with a succulent fruit that symbolized sexual love, Eve was seduced by Lucifer’s sexual temptation and slept with him. Afterward, she felt guilty and tempted Adam to fall sexually in a way that she dominated Adam and made them both fall under servitude to Lucifer, who was cast down to hell for his sexual sins and renamed Satan by God.
Adam blamed Eve, and Eve in her immaturity bore two children, Cain and Abel. Cain inherited the first fallen love of his fallen father Adam. In other words, Cain inherits “fallen nature” - jealousy, passions to murder, arrogance, fear, narcissism. God wanted Cain to humble himself to Abel and remove his fallen nature and return to his original nature. But humans are obstinate, and after many fallen generations of NOT doing this, human spirituality became dull and we lost our ability to see angels. Also, our fallen nature is ingrained in us. Because we are born in illicit sexual promiscuity, it is very hard for us to change, and only the Second Advent can start us off in reforming ourselves. The first step is to understand what the root of sin committed by Adam and Eve was. Since it's an ancestral problem that we inherit, even if a gay man attends church, he will still feel gay. The only way to heal us is to engraft by marriage onto a better lineage through marriage - this is exactly why Jesus came - so that humans can change their fallen blood lineage to a better one. So, the 1st generation of members in our church have hangups - drugs, homosexuality, debt, that we try to control and pay penitence for, and the 2nd and 3rd generations born have less and less burdens. We don’t expect gays to transform overnight or even in their lifetime.
Let’s stop pointing fingers at homosexuality and take a moment to reflect on ourselves. None of us are perfect, and it’s worth remembering that even within our own local xhurches, people struggle with all kinds of issues, including sexual sin. Should those struggles stop? Of course, but the reality is, we all fall short in different ways.
We all sin, whether it’s through actions, words, or thoughts. So rather than focusing on others’ faults, why not take the opportunity to look inward and work on our own hearts?

I believe that people are called at all different areas in their lives..as Paul says, "some of you were". The Scriptures also says that no adulterous, sexual immoral, liars etc will inherit the Kingdom (Lifestyles). This relates to gays and strait people. If you identify as a gay christian putting the gay before christian then I worry. Our bodies are not our own. We were bought for a price. God's plain desire for us to live holy lives and if you do not accept this then it is the Holy Spirit that you are rejecting. The Scriptures are just so clear about this issue. You can choose to ignore it but it is open for anyone to read. My greatest fear is I will face the Lord and he would say, Depart from me, I never knew you. Most in the western world hate Jesus as He says He is Lord of All. Jesus forgive the adulterous women, who was condemned to be stoned, but he told her to go and sin no more. Most of us have lived immoral lives but God saves, loves and redeems us-but he also says go, and sin no more (lifestyle) I would have to tell my brothers and sisters to not be deceived in this area. We all have to take up our cross and follow Jesus. We have to make the tough choices but God's grace is sufficient. We all struggle with lust, but we are new creations in Christ. I talk too much :) The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges is a great easy read but rich in explaining the path to holiness.

You really need to clarify what you're saying. "Can gay people follow Jesus?" is not "can gay people be Christians." According to the holy trinity Jesus is God. Your question should therefore be, can gay people follow God. People can believe in God without believing in religion.

A fundamental flaw in your teaching is that we are born in sin and are all outside the kingdom of God until we make the correct decision and meet the requirements.
The truth is that in the Last Adam, who is Jesus Christ, there is no sin nature and since we are in Him, after His resurrection, we were born into the nature of the Last Adam.
Paul stated clearly (Acts 17) that we ALL, including the pagan idol worshippers he was speaking to, are children, offspring (genos) of God and IN HIM we live and move and have our being. We were born again (anagennao) by the resurrection of Christ. His action, His choice, our benefit and inheritance.
As people begin to understand that they are God's children, not outside the family, not dirty sinners that God is angry with, sin (which is the failure to know and live in our true identity), goes away. WE are no longer missing the mark of who God is and who we are as His children.
Your gospel, is no gospel. It is not GOOD NEWS, it is mostly bad news. All the things you say we have to give up when we become a "Christian" naturally just begin going away and dropping off when we learn that we are not totally deprave sinners, but actually children of God. We, (good, bad, or ugly) automatically become in action and behavior, who we perceive ourselves to be. This is simply a fact, tested and proven many times in many ways. We act and behave just like the person we perceive and believe ourselves to be. So, repentance is simply changing our thinking about who and what we are and allowing Father, Son and Spirit to begin convincing us of that truth. Behavior automatically follows our belief and we effortlessly are transformed.

@ I have studied Gagnon’s work and BDAG and the ESV’s translation choices etc. I respectfully disagree and would side more with Kathy Buldock and the 1946 movie crowd. If I concede for the sake of argument that 1 Corinthians 6:10-11 teaches you can be set free, then it contradicts the “reprobate mind” verses of Romans 1. I am incredibly uncomfortable with that and so on. I have a powerful testimony of deliverance but not from Same sex attraction, and not its not just lust either,
