Hi,
I’ve just arrived in my home country, the Netherlands, and I wanted to share a bit more about my personal life. I've been enjoying vlogging my time with family and showing you glimpses of what I'm up to this summer. I try to visit home twice a year, during the holidays and in the summer. It's always such a great feeling to catch up with old friends and family.
Even though I never lived in Amsterdam, it truly feels like home to me. There’s so much I love about this beautiful city-the people, the charming homes, the outdoor terraces, and the lively ambiance and activities. It always feels so vibrant and alive!
Let me know if you enjoy these types of vlogs. I played around a bit with the editing because it felt so wholesome.

My favorite vlogs are always the ones that you’re in the Netherlands.
It’s such a calm feeling and I think that when you’re there you became a version more grounded of yourself than in LA ☺️

It is said that home is where the heart is. Amsterdam looks beautiful and serene, so it's no wonder you like it there. It is, after all, your culture. I took notes on your protein bowl; it looks easy and delicious. Your Mom looks like a person who likes to be busy and fun to be with.

Hey Sanne! You always mention how much more at home you feel in the Netherlands and then seem unhappy when you’re back in LA. Why not try splitting your time between Amsterdam and LA, maybe 60% in LA and 40% in Amsterdam during the spring and summer, and then slowly moving back to the Netherlands? Since most of your work is remote, you can easily manage it from either place and make new friends in Amsterdam. Follow your heart - feeling at home and being with family is more important than business. Your business won’t suffer from moving to another great place like Amsterdam.

Why not choose both? Many people share their time equally between places they love. Maybe long term, California will be your winter home and Netherlands will be your summer home.

Such a relaxing video! The countryside looks so peaceful…Skyr is Icelandic style yogurt where it’s much higher in protein. I LIVE for Skyr yogurt! One of my favorite dishes to make with Skyr is poached eggs over Skyr that’s mixed with garlic, then I top with chili oil and dill!
Love this video, Sanne. Especially the talk at the end. I totally feel the mid-twenties struggles right now, wanna know the answers to what comes next, also not being 100 percent happy with what I’m doing and what I’ve done. So good to hear that I’m not the only one facing these personal issues and that it will pass, just like it did on your journey. 🤲🏼🥰

If you do have kids, then Amsterdam and Europe in general is probably better with your family close by and you can run your business from anywhere! :) The countryside is so beautiful and calming. What a lovely place to come home to. It was soo sweet to see you spend time with your mum and it brought a little tear to my eye. And feeling exhausted when you take time to rest is a normal reaction. We are go go go all the time. I think the European mentality is also very different to the US. Life here generally is slow and you have more time to appreciate the small things.

Skyr is Icelandic yogurt made from only skim milk. :) So in order to become that thick it needs to be strained lots. So very low fat very high protein. :)
The weather is a huge deal…living in Scotland is super hard. I think The Netherlands is similar? You wait all winter for the summer and when the summer arrives it isn’t very hot or sunny…so hard to wake up and get motivated when all you see is grey skies and rain. That’s why we spend so much time travelling, especially in California, or we would need to be on some kind of mood elevating medication…we are planning of spending February near LA to break the winter up, you have the best of both worlds though and you love travelling so I don’t think you’ll ever be stuck, even if you were to move back to Amsterdam permanently 😊

LOVED THIS VLOG SANNE! You can really see that you're super relaxed being in The Netherlands again, walking around in Amsterdam and having quality time with your family. And you probably are more relaxed haha, because I think you also work less and have more time to reflect and stand still. Also like to see all those streets in Amsterdam where I always walk and go, also De Nieuwe Yogaschool I come quite often. For me this vlog felt very homey. And what you say about the weather is SO true, this summer in The Netherlands is so grey and rainy, that can defenitely have a huge impact on your mood, right? It's definetely part of getting a bit older , just more settled within yourself , being at ease and like you say intentional about the time energy and output you expend in the outer world . The weather affects me so so so much also , so I understand

Maybe it's the rainy weather for you but I sleep a lot when I go visit my family! I am Argentine living in Barcelona and I normally have insomnia. I feel like the only time I can really rest is when I'm at my parents' house, so once every 3 or 4 years lol 🙃

Sanne, you could still live in Amsterdam and run your US businesses, with the internet and hiring a manager your trust to run things in USA if you need a physical presence in LA.

I think Skyr is a Scandinavian yogurt type of thing? We get a lot in the UK, it is quite sour but still delicious 😋we were in Bruges a few weeks ago, gorgeous place, I think Amsterdam reminds of it, the buildings and a lovely relaxed vibe 🥰

Love your content! Curious if you’ve ever been to the Sir Albert Hotel in Amsterdam. My husband and I stayed there and to our surprise, the restaurant had the BEST Sushi we’d ever had, and we are huge fans of Sushi. If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it!

My sister-in-law is from a family of dairy farmers in Friesland (Netherlands - not Holland!). I’m English and always thought the Holland and the Netherlands were the same like GB and UK but it’s more like England and Britain.
Holland and The Netherlands: the same country. Friesland is one of the provinces of The Netherlands/Holland.
Friesland is indeed one of the provinces of the Netherlands. South-Holland and North-Holland are also provinces. Holland is not the same as the Netherlands :-)

OK someone help me out here! Anytime I mix ANY protein powder into ANY yougurt it turns into soup. What am I doing wrong?
Instead of adding everything and stirring hard, I ‘fold’ in the protein powder - adding little by little - instead. Hope that helps!
