back to another camping video!
This week I head to a new spot to wild camp under my poly cotton tarp and it canvas swag bag. I make a pot hanger for my Dutch oven to hang on.
I get a nice camp fire going and cook up an African style sweet potato peanut stew.

Looks like a beautiful location! Staring into a fire with a full stomach drinking a tinnie with the sound of the rain seems perfect mate! I’m looking forward to some winter camping this year here in Tassie!

Great video Craig, I’m pretty sure the meal you made is West African they use a lot of peanut butter in their food I make a vegan version I also put pineapple in mine and black beans instead of meat and a healthy portion of scotch, Bonnet

Nice one Craig, love that swag bag. Snug as a bug in a rug. Proper scran that too. I've not done an overnighter then straight into work for about a year. Reckon you've inspired me to do another one soon 🙂. Food definitely looked bangin 👍. I've made a few paddle strops from polypore over the years. They usually last a couple of years of stopping before they disintegrate 🙂. They work well though.

Great vid Craig, good to see you out on another overnighter. I don't know of anyone else that does it and straight to work the next day. Love my cast iron cooking as well, bought my first 'Potjie' (little witches cauldron) in South Africa in 1980 and still have it. PS; did you get your van's oil leak fixed? Cheers mate, take care.

There’s nothing better than a good stew in the colder months, I like to add plenty of spices to mine, ginger, turmeric, cayenne oh and plenty of garlic 🧄

I don't want to be a buzz kill or start an argument but the title of "broken landscape" really hit home with me. The lord gave us this planet to use as our own. Now yes it was given to us but if we took better care of it and treat it like a gift given to us by a loved one maybe it would be "broken". This was given to us freely and we exploited it. We are all stewards of this planet and very few treat it like we are stewards. Yes there's a lot ofcampers that leave it better than they found it and that is good. Just take care of our gift and please be kind to one another.

@eastanglianbushcraft In south africa we call stew cooked in Dutch oven over a fire "potjiekos" which is Afrikaans (Dutch sister language). The peanut butter tho, never had it with that.😂...

It’s a pretty authentic African dish. Probably be chicken or fish in Africa as there is not much beef there. 👍🏾
