+haggismuncher I believe he's "legally blind" which means he has some vision, can recognize basic shapes, colors, etc. But yeah, he is amazing for sure.
I have an uncle who's legally blind and can see just fine. Legally blind basically means you have to have glasses order to drive and such. You can tell he can see a bit because he's hitting the front controls on the amp flawlessly
1470Kwinten legally blind. He has 10% vision give or take. He can see things up close...Anyway fully blind people use watches also. You can get special build watches where they can read the time by touching it. Just like when they read blind language on paper, you know with dots and everything. So yeah.
I just really like this guy. He is the quintessential southern Good Ol' Boy, which is not necessarily my thing. But that is who he is, and he is just so authentic that even when he is selling things you don't really mind. It's terrific -- which means he is. And his playing is phenomenal, even when he is just noodling around.
I always thought it was cool that he doesn't wear glasses. He has the look, the charisma, and talent. I am a classic rock guy, so I used to hate country. Johnny and Guthrie make me love country.
You are truly great my brother with same name and you got an end with two great attributes. YOU HAVE FULL NECK VOICING AND YOUR COUNTRY IN ALL ITS FORMS NOTE FOR NOTE AND PERFECT WITH ALL PLICK AND PLUCK USE PICK to all its abilities and your toking every note as if it has it's own story.I have never heard the competence of a country axe than you play sir.Ive been playing 56 years now...my son.lol....brother your chicken picking is perfection.
Just throw in Classic 57's, do 50's wiring and mess around with the tone knobs in middle position to get the twang. A good LP with Classics and 50's wiring is probably the most versatile guitar you can get soundwise, can handle anything from brutal metal to airy jazz, from smooth blues to twangy country.
That amp has some great tones, but those magic fingers contribute a lot too. Thank you for showing me another cool toy I don't need, but wish I had. LOL.
Love JOhnny. Amazing guy and player. Strange seeing him with a LP. Gorgeous guitar though. Good sounding amp, wish I had the dough and space to buy one.
Johnny. If you want to experiment with sound stick some HIFI fuses in your amp. You probably are thinking a FUSE?? Try it out there are many different options. Check out how good your hearing is!! And if you hear the difference you can upgrade the sound. The fuses work like the pick-ups of your guitar. Maybe in the Reeves they already took out the glass fuses and replaced it for better ones. Kind regards from Holland. All the power goes thru fuses. Think about it!!
I used a gold top Gibson for a long time to play country. Using a thin pick makes a big difference if your looking for thinner twangy sound and don’t have a telecaster. A dyna comp compressor will take some thickness and bass away too to get a twangy tone. I used to play Johnny cash and buck owens stuff on my Gibson all the time 😎.
Great country master. Love your music.
That dude could make any amp sound good
thats the point - he has the tone in his fingers.
He could play without an amp and still find all the tone he would ever need!
understatement of the year... 😎
I have NEVER seen Johnny Hilland play a Les Paul ! It's screaming !
Killer playing, killer tone. Just discovered this guy today. Holy hell.
I love that man. He’s a treasure.

I saw Johnny a couple of times and had the pleasure of shaking his hand. An incredible guitarist and a helluva nice guy.
+riff tipton I saw him playing at Robert's Western World on lower Broadway in Nashville in 1996...and he was absolutely fabulous even back then.
riff tipton he is genuine
This guy is a legend & what a lot of people seem to forget is that he is blind...what a genius...possibly on a par with Danny Gatton
+haggismuncher I believe he's "legally blind" which means he has some vision, can recognize basic shapes, colors, etc. But yeah, he is amazing for sure.

Yes he has 10% vision give or take. So he can see things up close... Anyway he is an incredible guitarist and super nice guy.☺️👍
A blind guy with a watch... yeah !

What a naturally gifted player and a gentleman, ,wanted to hear the les paul bridge pickup with the boost on !
Reeves makes fantastic bass amps as well
So great to see someone using the neck position for a change. It seems most players forget an LP has a selector switch ;)
That amp sounds almost as good as my old Marshall tube amp...Amazing sound.

His finger & heart see everything
