That's 100% what it is. They're each a Mr. Wolf, or a "lone wolf," so the awkward pluralizing of the word comes from the name and their reluctance to work together and blah blah.
In regards to the Wolfs title, I just figured it’s because they’re guys who like to work alone, but are stuck together. I think it’s kinda clever honestly lol
Christy is such a 'Smooth Operator' with that coffee product segue. I liked the movie. It had an 'After Hours' (Scorsese (1982) vibe to it. It's very well shot and lighted, like you said. I felt the ending was a bit tacked on, and could have finished on the subway, or with the kid arriving at his home (I didn't understand why they all went inside). Nice to see Clooney and Pitt together again doing their thing though.
Everybody love Coffee Bros. Too bad they weren't around in 2000 because you know who else loves coffee...? The Gilmore Girls. Seriously they were always drinking coffee, and a Gilmore Girl's retrospective would be an amazing sponsorship opportunity for Coffee Bros. Though obviously both halves (or halfs?) of the team would have to watch the show.
Can you review The Fall from 2006? Directed by Tarsem Singh and starring as yet an unknown Lee Pace. This movie was wonderful and visually stunning, but to this day I have no idea why it wasn’t successful. I found out it is currently showing on MUBI. Compared to the awful, indulgent movies currently playing, I think this movie from twenty years ago holds up very well in terms of storytelling and characters. It is literally about storytelling and imagination.
3.5 out of 5 for me. I just finished it. I understand why Apple pulled the wide release because they had 4 under performers in a row (“Killers of the Flower Moon” was never gonna make $$$ but I’m sure with the other 3 they had some hope). If it had gone wide I think this may have been the biggest hit of them all. Because Pitt & Clooney’s back and forth is so goddamn fun to watch. It’s not a game changer or anything like that but I thought Jon Watts did a great job with the action (the one night setting helps the pacing and it moves so fast) and I think it features some of the best dialogue in his career. A sequel is in development and honestly if “Ocean’s Fourteen” doesn’t get off the ground I wouldn’t mind another one of these
I guess I am back to reviewing but given I watch these movies its just I want to add my cents. Its fine. Neither good or bad. The plot has some big loopholes and the final twist is really far fetched. But George Clooney was really great in that role. After a long time I think I saw him in a really good performance. Shows he still got the "juice". Pitt is ok but he's more the support guy. Its Clooney who does shoulder the movie. Its an ok movie. In the end you could say it tries to be much cleverer than you think. I think they could have done better with the plot had they played on the Amy Ryan angle but they went in completely opposite direction and exposed some big loopholes trying to tie together with an ending which is too far fetched.
Also, this movie feels like it could be called "cozy". What's your take on the whole "cozy" trend burbling up lately, where things that normally are powered by some sort of forward narrative momentum, are happy just to exist and let you hang out with the characters for a while. I'm seeing cozy boardgames, where you don't win or lose, or there's no winning or ending conditions, you just... play the game until you don't feel like playing anymore.
@@neutraltoxic Agreed. But I'd describe it more as an activity. Which is fine. We're in the golden age of boardgames right now, and whatever kind of game you like, there's 1000 of them. For now, I'll allow cozy games to exist, so long as I don't have to play them. Cozy books are the trend that's driving me most nuts because it's creeping into regular stuff. Cozy books are books where the characters just exist. No conflict. No stakes. Just vibes.
It's like the writer was listening to Sade thinking how to get George Clooney's The American with Brad Pitt's Mr. Smith together while playing Smooth Operator as these two smoothly operate.
It looks like a film that Pitt and Clooney were having way more fun making it like they would do in a Rat Pack way back in the 60s than the audience would be having in the theater.
I think it's because if you search "Wolves", a billion movies pop up, but "Wolfs", only one. I remembered the name of this movie as opposed to those other movies I can't remember their generic name. You know the ones.
I seem to recall there was a huge bidding war between all the studios for this film and Argylle. Apple won the rights for both. Interesting how they both ended up being mediocre movies.
Clooney is making some bizarre film choices recently. This preceded by that pretty dreadful ‘romcom’ thing with Julia Roberts. Urgh. He needs to do something substantial. He’s George Clooney, for crying out loud.
@@timothyw98 I can’t believe the guy who did Michael Clayton, Syriana, Good night & Good Luck, Out of Sight, Up in the air, Three Kings, all the Coens films, is reduced to this.
This was like eating a dessert that looked scrumptious but definitely was not worth the calories and now only regret of subjecting your psyche and body to its emptiness remains. I expected more chemistry between Clooney and Pitt. They seemed to be phoning in their lines. Ten minutes in and I began to think that this was a bad "spoof" movie. Did no one else notice that while the entire room was filled with blood, the victim had no cuts or blood on him? Speaking of the kid who played the victim, he was adorable, they should have made him some invincible alien as a plot twist at the end and maybe then I would have given this a thumbs up, But sadly don't waste your time, even on an airplane........you're gonna wanna bail.
...a basically interesting scenario, two of the best actors, a good first 15 minutes then..........rubbish. This is a problem when the writer is also the Director ie he cannot/is not objective enough to see how weak the script then becomes. It could have been great if other writers (presumably Jewish) had got to grips with the plot and the dialogue - as far as I understand, Hollywood/LA etc is full of them. Surprised Clooney & Pitt did not see this big weakness but maybe their just glad to be working.
@@drewmcgill5290 the consorted effort of the mainstream media blocking one film really does Prove they have a controlled agenda being pushed on the public. Whether you agree with their politics it still should frighten you.

Ha, thank you, we aim to entertain.
Seeing Clooney and Pitt makes me wish Redford and Newman had done more things together.
This is definitely going for that vibe.
The plural of two separate individuals lol. It’s kind of clever lol
I don’t know if Alonso is right about the Pulp Fiction thing, but it’s a good point. Alonso has better hair than Ben Mankiewicz too, fight me.

Exactly! I got that from the first trailer.

@@knownpleasures but it's intentionally incorrect english grammar.
I've not seen this but before making blockbusters Jon Watts directed a nice little film called Cop Car with Kevin Bacon
When I first heard they were fixers, I was hoping for a low-key sequel to Micheal Clayton.
Right? These guys are a little sleazier than that.
The beginning of michael Clayton was so awesome

It was a good way to pass some time. It felt a lot like a prestige series pilot than a stand-alone feature film.
Really wish we’d get another ‘Michael Clayton’ type film and performance out of Clooney. I get that’s not always easy tho!
I’m glad you gave Austin credit. I found him as enjoyable as Pitt and Clooney. I found flashbacks to Lethal Weapon with Joe Pesci car banter too.
