Why do Tony and JD switch places for the harmony parts? I.e. why doesn't JD just take the mic nearest the place where he is standing during the verses?
Seems like it is Doyle’s festival but this is def not quicksilver. Seriously - Doyle, Tony, JD and Jerry - doesn’t get better than that! We’re lucky to see this.
Strange, I saw this with my own eyes as it unfolded and I could have sworn it was the Album Band... I even played Tony's guitar backstage during the festival... DL & Q line up was Russell Moore, and the Vestal Brothers.
Any old clips of JD & Tony are a treasure. Thank you. RIP both.
@@justifiedFaith209 You’re welcome!!
I was fortunate to be there for that festival... Tony was greeted like a RockStar... Rightfully so...
My heros. Miss my mentor everyday.😢
Clay, you've done a killer job keeping his style thriving!
I have some bootleg tapes of this band -- they were awesome.
Fantastic! Are you going to let the rest of us enjoy them?
That Gold Rush break is top tier T. '86 was a peak year for him and this is a fine example. Thanks for the upload
I was there. Those were the best times. I still live in Randolph Co. NC.

banjo instrumental sounds a lot like JD Crowe - Blackjack but in G instead of A
Shucking the Corn
@@chainsawtheprinceofkarate4965 ayy there we go
The players beyond perfect and the vocals are heavenly!
Thanks for posting - those guys sounded great! I swear, Denton was the hottest place on Earth. How in the world did Doyle stand it in that sport coat?
I played the threshers reunion at Denton in 2018, and I 100% agree with you. Hands down the hottest I’ve ever been in my entire life.
@@Dillonabney5 Suffer for your art.
Because Doyle is sooooo coooool ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The banjo instrumental is Shuckin' the Corn.

Because JD liked harrmony in both ears.
@@MsFrankmc that's a very neat observation; did you go to a lot of their shows? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@MsFrankmcit’s also quite interesting how Tony locks in on JDs singing visually. Seems like it is easier for him to do that from the stage left mic.
This is not the bluegrass album band but Doyle Lawson & quicksilver.😊
No, just no... not the entire Album band, but a far cry from Quicksilver...
