Frogs in the Metaverse -Lecture by Kai Strittmatter on the exhibition "Cao Fei. Metamentary"

On the occasion of Cao Fei's exhibition, Kai Strittmatter talks about an almost incomprehensible country and its inhabitants: China. The most exciting place on earth for almost half a century. Strittmatter reports on the time when China seemed to have replaced the USA as the land of unlimited opportunities - and he describes how the new strongman Xi Jinping then arrived and started the march with China and the Chinese towards digital totalitarianism. The Communist Party has long since become the master of cyberspace.
Kai Strittmatter is a sinologist, journalist and author. He has dedicated most of his life to observing and describing China, including 15 years as a correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Beijing. His most recent book is ‘Die Neuerfindung der Diktatur’ (The Reinvention of Dictatorship), an award-winning book that describes China's transition to digital totalitarianism.
