Thanks Jack... is love to get you over here for an afternoon of mucking about!! Please bring a guitar! :-). I guess post Christmas lockdown then... :-)
You seem to be quite a wizard in terms of repairing and innovating ideas. I have a Yamaha Portasound PSS 560 synthesizer. It's 35 yrs old and been working flawlessly till a couple of months back. I couldn't play it since I was out of station. I returned last Monday, when I switched it on, I found it working nice but volume has become very feeble. I know how to use multimeter a bit. If you can suggest me, how to start primary checking, I'll remain grateful to you forgood. Defacto, I can't find any trustworthy service provider. Awaiting your suggestion. Thanks. 💕🙏🏽🇮🇳
I've got one of these, and I can't tell if the ambient speaker buzz is just how unshielded they used to make electronics back then, or a short along the line somewhere unfortunately. Otherwise it seems pretty cherry.
Great Work! I have a question for ya if you please help me? I have the same keyboard, but when I press any key it makes a hissing sound that is irritating, how can I fix that so that I get a pure sound only without the hiss?

I had so much fun doing this one ... so much so that I now have two more Casio keyboards to tinker with and restore... this will also be LOADS of fun... :-). Hope your well mate!!! Everyone, if you enjoy electronics videos, please pop over and enjoy some pile of stuff from Canada!
I just dug one of these up in my grandparents basement! Everything seems to be working alright except that I can’t seem to change the voice select, any idea how I could fix this problem?
@@DubiousEngineering yes every button works except for the voice select, I opened it up and everything seems to look good inside, although I don’t really know what to look for. Nothing was obviously broken or disconnected though
I just bought one, I’m learning how to play it, just a question. I tried different aux cables but I can’t get it to work, the port seems to big to be 3.5 mm. Is it mine missing something or is it a different size port? Thanks in advance.
Nice video ! I have the PSS-190 which is very similar and it also misses the power swich knob. Could you share your 3d printing file please? Thank you.
I bought a used one from a thrift store. It has a constant static hissing or buzzing sound coming from the speaker when it is turned on. I thought it was the speaker but Eleven when using headphones the static hissing noise can be head through them. Do you by any chance know what could be wrong with it?
@@DubiousEngineering all the keys and settings on it work. It just has this constant static hissing noise. The kind you hear ok the radio when the signal isn't good.
@@DubiousEngineering yeah i can solder. I am just not good a using a mutlimeter to figure out which ones may be faulty. I opened it up and the capacitors look ok. None are bulging. But in an area where 2 different capacitors are. The board looks a bit darker like of if its stained. It could be that one of them leaked.
It sounds like a motorbike sometimes :-). Thanks Betsy... that would be a great project... bike refurb. I’d need a bigger shed!! It will happen one day!!
I had this keyboard as a kid ! Yet I couldn't find the exact same model oj eBay. Im glad to be coming across this video now
I'm happy to sell this one to you if you're interested! Best, Howard
Wow we are off back to the 90's and beyond.
Oh Dave... terrible news!! I now have another TWO Casio keyboards to add to the collection!! :-)
Nice playing Howard

You're gonna need to look at the audio amp... you'll need an oscilloscope...

Proper noisy amp in there! May be some duff capacitors

Oh dear - sounds like you have a small problem with the amp section. You'd need an oscilloscope to trace it back...
@@DubiousEngineering Thanks mate for replying! Then im gonna have to take it to a professional to fix it. Thanks for your advice!
Great save 👍
Awww thanks Sparky!!! What’s your next video?!? I loved your knife sharpening tips!!!

I have one of these around here without opening it and I didn't see anything scary but it doesn't turn on and there's no sound what could it be?
Perhaps a problem with the wsitch or battery connectors?
@5:38 Lets get funky!

@hitcher82 sounds like some capacitors are faulty on the audio amp board ... hope you've got soldering skills
