Guys. I've found a new OTP.
I'm not going to lie, Endgame really ruined Marvel for me, and I found it hard to enjoy anything to do with it since. But I kept seeing gifs of these two and, without knowing any context whatsoever, started shipping them. Since I've got spare time on my hands now (I just love going into my fourth month of strict lockdown here in Aus) I decided to watch it and.... I then watched it again. I watched it while I painted and realized that I did not pay it nearly the amount of attention it deserved and watched it through again. I absolutely LOVED IT.
This show is very clearly directed by a woman and how the characters, especially Loki, have been portrayed align with the female gaze far more than previous films. I think this is what has made me truly fall in love with Loki this time around. I cannot fault this show. It makes me laugh, cry, the acting is impeccable, the writing is brilliant. The fact that people are complaining doesn't shock me, as I've been around fandom for long enough to know what the Star Wars and Marvel fandoms are like in particular, but it doesn't deserve the hate. It is so well done and I'm so proud of Tom Hiddleston and the people involved in making this show - it really evolved a part of Marvel and Loki's character but is also solid enough to watch on it's own if you haven't seen all of the films.
Anyway, about Sylvie and Loki! I absolutely LOVE them. The discourse around them is exhausting and I actually really love it. Of course Loki falls in love with someone who understands him, who is like him. I had a discussion with someone on twitter who mentioned that they're not so much the same person as they have different DNA (evident through the other variants, especially Croki) and moreso the fact that they are literal soulmates. The first season is about Loki learning to love himself through Sylvie and the second will be about Sylvie learning to love herself through Loki. (Thats all very deep come to think of it - I'm making a video to Somebody to Die For where I'll probably write way more about my thoughts regarding this!)
Loki and Sylvie not only have great chemistry and brilliant serious moments, but their banter is TOP NOTCH. One thing which is consistent around all of my ships is banter, and this is chefs kiss exactly what I'm here for. So, I made a video dedicated to their best scenes - I used the full song and I still couldn't fit every scene!
I am working on two more videos for this show because they truly have inspired my creativity again. I know not everyone loves this pairing and show, but this piece of enemies-to-lovers trash is already obsessed.
