This is very interesting concept. As chain can not only symbolize life but also its unpredictable nature. Hisagi mentioned himself how hard is to predict trajectory of blade. About backlash of healing - I think that each time Hisagi is saved Kazeshini chain gets shorter getting him closer to death as his blade and opponent.
Seeing how his Zanpakuto Shikai has the word Kaze in its name, I expected some wind attacks by spinning the scythe blades causing a vortex or whirlwind effect on the opponent. Kensei who is Shuhei’s Hero had an effect on his Shikai’s Name both sharing Kaze
Kazeshini's restorative ability isn't limited to Hisagi's energy reserves. Kazeshini drains the enemies it strikes as well. And the bankai literally lets Hisagi drain Hikone of almost all their power simply by letting them rage on his body that is continually restored by Kazeshini. I therefore have to point out that Kazeshini is not just about the cycle of life and death, but also of the bonds (chains if you will) between souls therein. It is a frighteningly overpowered zanpakuto that could obliterate any of the series' powerhouses like Yamamoto, Ywach, Kenpachi and so on because if they are caught by the chains it doesn't matter what damage they dish out, the repair bill is taken out of their pockets.
Hisagi is a great example what lengths soul reapers have to go through to make it in seireitei. Some things aren’t a given and you put your life on the line.
I think it was, indirectly, Tosen's fault why Kazeshini never awakened its true power until later in the series. Tosen taught Shuhei to value life. That fear isn't a weakness, but it shows that a person cares. While this is a nice sentiment, it only perpetuates Shuhei's fear. Then Kensei came in with his drill instructor additude. Kensei forced Shuhei to confront his fears to understand death. It's alright to fear dying, but don't let it control you. Be prepared to embrace death so life can continue.
I think both teachers were equally necessary. His power is the delicate balance between life and death. Tosen taught him to value life and take life only when necessary, and Ken taught him to value his strength and trust himself to know the difference. It's only when he fully understood all aspects did he awaken his true power. It just took him longer to trust himself and understand the necessity of death in the cycle of things.
Hisagi's potential is strong and was perfectly showcased in CFYOW. Be it stopping Kenpachi and Hikone while they were blood crazed in battle or getting to the forbidden truth of Soul Society's history he really showed what a Shinigami is supposed to be.
He was a great counterpart to Tokinada who build his terrors on everything soul reapers do wrong while Hisagi just wants to do the right thing as a soul reaper.
I find it intriguing that Hisagi's earnest, reserved and somewhat gentle nature feels like a prototype of Izuku Midoriya from MHA or Tanjiro Kamado from KnY. Must be why I like those two young men 👺
I quite like Kazeshini's true power. It makes the whole Zanpakutō have stronger overall theme, and makes Hisagi's character arc come full circle in a very nice way.

I like this idea a lot, I was thinking maybe until he got attacked by Hikone he didn't truly understand Kazeshini and had a "false" shikai like Renji had his false bankai until he did his training and came to understand Zabimaru.
It's said that the powers given for the shikai is what the zampakutou spirit think you deserve, and how much you know yourself, the power is stablish from the start, they don't change, they only learn more about the power is like a game there's 30 levels but you can only access level 30 after unlock every single one, the level were always there, how much you can access depends on how much you know yourself, when you have doubts you don't have access to more power, the more you know the more access you have. And that's why a lot of the training is meditation
To be fair, in each of those examples, the characters were very young and hadn't had Shikai for a long time. Especially Ichigo. In fact, I think it was said he learned to control Getsuga purely due to his training with Zangetsu. So, in his case, he just needed more practice to be able to use Getsuga Tenshou at will. At most, i think Bankai helps them truly understand their Zanpakuto as a whole, which can impact how they've been using Shikai. Rukia, for example, realized she had completely misunderstood how her Zanpakuto functions at a foundational level. She can create ice, so she just accepted that it was an ice/snow type like Toshiro's and left it at that. Only when training with Ichibe does she finally understand WHY and HOW she creates ice, which completely changes her understanding of her Shikai. Only then does she realize she doesn't have an Ice type at all. She has a Cold type. She didn't just get a new ability. She fundimentally changed how she uses Shikai from the ground up. Hisagi seems to be similar. He had those blades and just accepted that he was stuck with a power type Zanpakuto, like Ikkaku and Renji. He was unhappy about it, even saying he wished it was a kido type instead, but he forced himself to use it anyway. That right there should have told us, and him, that it wasn't that simple. Zanpakuto are the reflection of the user. How could he possibly wield a power type Zanpakuto? He's nothing like Renji or Ikkaku.
@@corruptangel6793 That is kinda my point. Only the Bankai training revealed the truth about their Shikai. Gave them full access to their Shikais true power.
@@Grayson-WinchesterI don't think Kira is a good example get get stomped in less than one page then appears for a short off screen fight. The story would not great change if they didn't show him at all.
This is not true at all maybe in the final stage where only byakuya and toshiro and Kenny were power houses but nanao got a moment nemu did kiskue Sajin and all of the new characters got time to shine
TYBW was almost like "bankai reveals" for the major players (secret trump cards that we have not seen yet). Kubo was either saving Shuhei's for later, or he hasn't thought of how to incorporate it into the story. I would cut Kubo some slack, he was sick and hurting during the run.
I'd like to assume at some points, Kubo's intentions for Hisagi might have leaned for him to be a Soul Reaper Foil for Ichigo. Not quite, but perhaps similar to Uryu being a quincy foil for Ichigo. They look similar on a base line. They both have duel zanpakutos (at least from visual perspective). Hisagi follows a Shinigami's path of embracing and explemplifying the cycle of life and death because of duty and experience. Ichigo builds and gains experience and duty overtime regarding life and death. Hisagi gains a bankai that creates equals for a balanced, if not moral template to engage with. Ichigo gains a bankai that has the ultimate power of destructions, but his unbalanced/immature moral lines impede his growth to use it fully (till end). Just a flat well crafted character at a base line for the story.
One character that is super slept on in CFYOW is yuroichi. Yuroichi’s lethality was on prime display throughout CFYOW even at the end when she implied they should kill hisagi for “knowing too much”.
I must say that it is a rare treat to have one of the soul reapers wield the power and weapon which symbolizes life and death. Hisagi is the most exemplary soul reaper in terms of demonstrating what it truly means to be one. Furthermore, the fact that death is represented by his scythe, which is naturally known as a Reaper's only weapon, is fascinating. There are many characters in Bleach that I enjoy, but Hisagi and Kazeshini are the closest depictions of actual Reapers that I've come across in shows and books. Life and death are extremely unique powers and I would say that it makes Hisagi broken, and for that, I adore these two characters. I am very glad CFYOW came out because ever since Hisagi’s first fight I have been captivated by his character.
I like the idea that there truly are no dual zanpakuto, and I thought the explanation for the ones we had made sense. I hope CFYOW gets animated eventually.
In the fake Karakura town fight Kazeshinis chain was thorn apart two times: first by Ayon and second by the hollofied Tousen. After those event we saw Hisagi really busted and injured. As Mayuri stated in the TYBW, a broken shikai can be fixed by the zanpaktous owner, but it need time. In an all-out war free time is a luxury for the combatants. Its possible, that Hisagi only had enough time and reiatsu to repair his shikai, but not heal himself properly.
One of my top 5 characters, been waiting for this video. Been looking for Artwork of his inner world for a while but none seems to fit with what I have in my head.
I always kind of wished Kazeshini's released form was just a regular kusarigama, mostly because the physics of the spinning the whole scythe pole feels off to me, and the length of the pole basically changes from panel to panel to suit whatever Hisagi is doing with it. I think it makes perfect sense that it's not really a dual zanpakuto though, since both ends are connected by the chain, even without saying the chain is the actual essence of it. On another note, it always felt like Hisagi and Kazeshini fought the same way White does with Zangetsu and perhaps there was originally going to be more of a direct comparison between them.
I remember seeing Hisagi on the cover of one of the graphic novels and thinking this guy is gonna be important, and he just never was. Glad he has cool powers at least
I seena post on Facebook a bit ago that point out potential foreshadowing of his true shikai. The injuries he got from his fight with tosen were gone in later scenes towards the end of the fight. It could have been to save on budget but I'm more for the idea of it foreshadowing his true power
I think various Shikai becoming more than just basic transformation is fine for the series. The Zanpakuto are a reflection of the soul so the evolution of new abilities shows that the characters grow as the series progresses. It also prevents them from being stale, and makes up for some of the simple ones from the beginning of the series. Perhaps some day we will see something similar for hollows or at least espada, maybe more seguna etapas.
There only being 1 dual wielding blade is so stupid. There isn’t. Like at all. They are all also made through super specific conditions EXCEPT Hisagis. Ichigo wasn’t even SUPPOSED to get one. He DECIDED to make it two. Not at all that different from Shunsui who also had his made like that at request. Like bro Kubo is pushing it sometimes.
@@52Brickz-278 Not written by Kubo directly. But it’s as close as canon it’s gonna get without Kubo referencing it in the Hell Arc when he finally gets to it or something
@@l1ghtd3m0n3Kubo not write directly because he himself admit cant create Novel, he actually love Narita bleach novel because Narita help Kubo making his series as a novel and expanded it.
A key point to note about Kazeshini is that if the chain is its metaphorical counterpart, which represents life, and life being represented by a chain is a direct reference to death being a release from the struggles of life even in their binding nature. We struggle through every part of life every day we are alive, and only in death are we free of those struggles. Yet that freedom is only because we no longer are attached to anything we had while alive. Hence the metaphor in what is represented by Kazeshini.
Would be awesome 4 you to do a legendary dual zanpakto vid. Maybe a ranking and explaining or something. I'd watch it either way, as I watch all your vids ha.
I hate to be that person but I believe you are mistaken about Ichigo’s Zangetsu. Tite Kubo revealed that his larger of the two blades is actually the scabbard, or sheath, whereas the smaller blade is the actual blade. So Ichigo also does not possess dual zanpaku-tos
It’s fair to say that in those scenes when he should have been destroyed like being fully crushed but he was still alive that his power was partially active. Like how zabimaru was still kinda transforming but not correctly. So when partially active his power is active enough to sorta leave him in a 1HP state but not enough to resurrect or fully repair him.
14:30 Well, with an existential threat, people gain clarity. TYBW was definitely more stress than any previous experience Hisagi had, so may Kazeshini grew by leaps and bounds then.
Kubo had no idea of the direction he would take for most of these characters. By his own words he rarely planned beyond that of 3 weeks of writing at a time. That led others to pick up his slack in course corrections and a lot of retcons later on post the series finale. Regardless, I’m glad one of my favorite characters in Hisagi was redeemed.
I'm of the opposite camp from Tommo in that I always felt Kazeshini needed more, despite being quite decent as a melee Zanpakuto, and I think the twist in CFYOW was perfect for Hisagi. Honestly, I feel all "no-frills" melee Zanpakuto make little sense in a series like Bleach, where the Zanpakuto are supposed to be an expression and externalization of the soul. How can a normal weapon with no conceptual ability be that? Heck, I think Hozukimaru might possibly have a conceptual ability that Ikkaku refuses to comprehend on principle. It would be very in-character for him.
Some would argue it also works for Fuji Kujaku - a normally flashy and soul that hides its true nature out of loyalty to combat. Gonryōmaru’s shikai was a stately zankpakuto that served its more powerful captain’s with distinction. In many ways it’s a great metaphor for each captain/vice-captain relationship.
@@alaudbrother Fuji Kujaku is a bad example, given that it is explicitly a false Shikai designed to hide the true one because of Yumichika's self-acceptance issues. We also don't fully know if Gonryumaru has no special ability or just manipulates lightning.
@@MrGksarathy maybe, but I think it works either way. Itegumo is a plain zanpakuto, but it reflects Isane’s personality in combat. Haineko is fickle, like Matsumoto. Wabisuke is unassuming but competent. Gegetsuburi is impressive in size but mostly for show. We don’t even know Iba’s zanpakuto name or abilities, which tells us a lot about his personality. A few exceptions involve characters like Hinamori and most of the Vizards, but I think it’s very intentional that Nejibana and Sode no Shirayuki both arose from Squad 13, where the captain wasn’t as strong or overbearing a personality compared to most others.
@@alaudbrother I don't think you understand the definition of plain "no-frills" Zanpakuto. Every single one you described has some special ability or other which reflects the Shinigami they are bound to. Itegumo, we legit don't know what it does, so that's not even a point worth making. Gegetsuburi is the only real "no-frills" example, and again, I personally think Omaeda isn't using it to its fullest potential due to his cowardice and laziness.
Hidalgo was such a weird char to fixate on he's like the low teir of Kool characters. So many more above him deserved more of a spotlight. Novel felt like someone wrote a fan fiction about their personally favorite character Also no. Never thought he welded legendary 2 swords. That's Shunsui and sick man. Yama said it himself. Never thought for 1 second emo boy was up there with those 2.
I hope we get this further explored in the anime with Kubo at the helm now. Maybe some bit in TYBW but once its done CFYOW getting its own adaptation after like a movie or something. Although many people did not think the lieutenant fights were good or necessary in the Fake Karakura, I for one was very pleased excited and happy we got to see the side characters further explored. Kiras own Shikai is interesting and finally seeing Yamachikas true Shikai as well. I love the extras 💕
Hisagi was able to put a good fight againts Tosen who is at least Staark level. And then he was easily defeated by Driscoll Berci one of the weakest Stenritter without using his Volstandig. And people keep saying Top Espadas are stronger than most Sternritter.
Because Tousen isn't even Harribel level, heck calling him Nnoitora level is questionable. And before you start saying I'm wrong, prove it. Show a direct statement or feat. Anything else is just an excuse. If you need to "explain" it you're just coping.
Well kazeshini is still an melee weapon, to be honest this zanpakuto would be perfect to Unohana or Zaraki, where they could keep fighting until they exaust all their energy, about why he does not heal completely before, maybe kazeshini heals him faster when he is near death or dead, if it is an basic injure it probable take longer or not even actave until it gets worst.
When you said that the true essence of Kazeshini was the chain, the first thing that I thought of was the Soul Chain. It might be coincidence but I can't help but wonder if there's something there.
Some other questions Kubo-sensei needs to be asked: 1. if he plans to draw the other generations of taichos. 2. if Kukaku was in the gotei 13. 3. if we technically have already seen who is in the other two noble families.
A perfect opurtunity to show Kazeshini's ability is in Hisagi vs Byakuya fight, byakuya should have mortaly wounded hisagi or "killed him" with hisagi rising from the ground with chains visible inside of his wounds
I love your thinly veiled criticism of this ability. I believe the only reason this is Kazeshini's "true ability" is because Hisagi was the main character and the main character can't not have a power up. The thing that really makes me dislike additions like this to the series is how they're explicitly explained and go the entire story following that established identity without a hint of the supposed "true" form. Also, I'm fully with you in wanting some shikai to be simple melee weapons with maybe a simple ability. They help facilitate a clean story, and simplicity with depth is so much more enjoyable than shallow complexity.
The concept of a duel Zanpakuto does exist outside of Ichigo. Ukitake and Shunsui both have one. Hisagi only ever had 1 Zanpakuto, but the others had 2. Shunsui has 2 spirits. Ukitake has 2 spirits. Ichigo has 2 spirits. That's why it's so rare. Outside of very special circumstances, everyone only has 1 soul and can therefore only possess 1 Zanpakuto. Hisagi was never stated to be part of that elite group, unlike Shunsui and Ukitake, so any assumption that he was is purely on the fault of the fans. It should have been obvious he wasn't in that group ever since the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc. Even if it was only filler. At the very least, someone would have mentioned it when he released Shikai as we got reaction shots from almost everyone there I always imagined the chain was the ability of Kazishini, but I merely imagined that he could change the length at will. Learning it was a Kido type all along, not a power type, was definitely a surprise
Really in the end, no Zanpakuto should just be "just a melee weapon" and by nature should have complexity and hidden powers too them... should the Shinagami be able to gain access to them.
You should try your hand at a battle analysis of all the fights that mostly took place off screen I.E kenpachi vs komomura and Yama against kyoraku and the right arms vessel. ( I plumb drew a blank trying to remember coughy coughs name.) How do you think things played out in those instances though? What would you have done had you been writing those internal affairs within the soul society with what all it was going through at the time in consideration.
What do you think of Kazeshini's true power? Do you like how the Zanpakutō reflects the cycle of life and death? Or did you prefer it when Hisagi had a simple melee weapon? Let me know your thoughts - thanks everyone!

@@christopherg2347 I'm saying they probably didn't need their Bankai. They would have eventually figured it out on their own.
To be fair, anyone who wasn’t a main character or fan favorite captain got treated like garbage during tybw.
Shuhei isn’t alone there.
Wrong, characters can lose, stand up again to fight. Kira returned but unfortunately offscreened when he ended Lillie
@@Grayson-WinchesterI don't think Kira is a good example get get stomped in less than one page then appears for a short off screen fight. The story would not great change if they didn't show him at all.
I mean just like during FKT where half of characters either didn't do shit or just jobbed to Aizen?
A battle analysis with Hisagi vs As Nodt would be interesting. How would As Nodt’s shrift affect someone who’s already accepted their own fear?
True that, Hisagi could hard counter As Nodt.
3:05 I still can't believe how it was revealed.
A love letter to Hisagi's fans. He is a powerhouse in his own right after bankai.
I want this light novel to be animated one day to see the bankai in full power
I want “Can’t Fear Your Own World” to be included in the anime so badly. It has some of the greatest Bleach content ever produced.
I remember seeing Hisagi on the cover of one of the graphic novels and thinking this guy is gonna be important, and he just never was. Glad he has cool powers at least
Just being on that cover alone gave Hisagi MC status (even if he wasn't), plus a new Bankai, it certainly helped him.
OMG is that a video about Cowman’s favorite character? Hell yeah 👍
I seena post on Facebook a bit ago that point out potential foreshadowing of his true shikai. The injuries he got from his fight with tosen were gone in later scenes towards the end of the fight. It could have been to save on budget but I'm more for the idea of it foreshadowing his true power
I haven't seen tybw but he and ukitake were my two most anticipated bankai
So excited to watch it when i can!
It’s on Hulu if you got it!
The immortal man who fear death
There only being 1 dual wielding blade is so stupid. There isn’t. Like at all. They are all also made through super specific conditions EXCEPT Hisagis. Ichigo wasn’t even SUPPOSED to get one. He DECIDED to make it two. Not at all that different from Shunsui who also had his made like that at request. Like bro Kubo is pushing it sometimes.
Still hoping that they make CFYOW explicitly canon. Lotta good material just to be left in the realm of dubiously canon.
It is cannon
@@52Brickz-278 Not written by Kubo directly. But it’s as close as canon it’s gonna get without Kubo referencing it in the Hell Arc when he finally gets to it or something
@@l1ghtd3m0n3Kubo not write directly because he himself admit cant create Novel, he actually love Narita bleach novel because Narita help Kubo making his series as a novel and expanded it.
light novel: HISAGI'S TOTALLY BROKEN BANKAAAAIIIII
TYBW: aw that's nice, i'm just gonna hang this on the fridge
I like his zanpakutō spirt from the anime.
Shuhei the goat
I would've liked to see more Shinigami's Inner Worlds, it's a shame Kubo didn't expand on that concept.
You are gonna Shunsui's in TYBW anime
@@killuazoldyk2727 Does that really count? It's more like his Bankai affecting the world around him.
The man without fear🔥🐐
A key point to note about Kazeshini is that if the chain is its metaphorical counterpart, which represents life, and life being represented by a chain is a direct reference to death being a release from the struggles of life even in their binding nature. We struggle through every part of life every day we are alive, and only in death are we free of those struggles. Yet that freedom is only because we no longer are attached to anything we had while alive. Hence the metaphor in what is represented by Kazeshini.
I NEED TO SEE THE CHAINS REBUILDING BRO
Would be awesome 4 you to do a legendary dual zanpakto vid. Maybe a ranking and explaining or something. I'd watch it either way, as I watch all your vids ha.
“Hikone, I’ve come to bargain…”
I'm becoming more and more convinced that a character's OP potential is proportional to how long it takes to reveal their ability.
Did you forget about Hisagi vs Yumichika which also hyped up Yumichika's True Shikai?:-)
You know youre strong when prodigies like Hitsugaya taking notice of your shikais release
Hidalgo was such a weird char to fixate on he's like the low teir of Kool characters.
So many more above him deserved more of a spotlight.
Novel felt like someone wrote a fan fiction about their personally favorite character
Also no. Never thought he welded legendary 2 swords. That's Shunsui and sick man. Yama said it himself.
Never thought for 1 second emo boy was up there with those 2.
Always been my fav character since i first saw him. Close second is shunsui
Yamamoto said ONLY ukitake and shunsui had dual zanpaktos. Which is true, ichigo doesn't have a dual not does hisagi which yama knew about the chain.
Your videos butter My biscuits thank you
The plot armor is strong with this one.
The Shikai seemed pretty good when it was just melee but than you put basically immortal into the mix and it has to be one of the strongest Shikai
It’s similar to Urahara’s Bankai in that it repairs his injuries 😊
Hisagi Bankai = "come at me bro"
(makes his opponent fear death)
Hisagi was able to put a good fight againts Tosen who is at least Staark level. And then he was easily defeated by Driscoll Berci one of the weakest Stenritter without using his Volstandig.
And people keep saying Top Espadas are stronger than most Sternritter.
Because Tousen isn't even Harribel level, heck calling him Nnoitora level is questionable.
And before you start saying I'm wrong, prove it. Show a direct statement or feat. Anything else is just an excuse. If you need to "explain" it you're just coping.
He truly is the truest Soul Reaper there is. A release command of Reap, Kazeshini meaning death wind, and him only doing things because it's his duty.
The power of the 6 9 face tattoo.
I kinda feel like the ability to heal is directly related to his bonki training
Nice
When you said that the true essence of Kazeshini was the chain, the first thing that I thought of was the Soul Chain. It might be coincidence but I can't help but wonder if there's something there.
Remember when tommo posted a jjk video xD that was wild
Xd hhh
Some other questions Kubo-sensei needs to be asked: 1. if he plans to draw the other generations of taichos. 2. if Kukaku was in the gotei 13. 3. if we technically have already seen who is in the other two noble families.
Hell, yeah, it’s metal bro
I hope this all unfolds in one of the remaining cours.
Remember when shikais were just stronger weapons?
That was never the case. Benihime is the second shikai we are shown in the series
I really hope they animate Cfyow. That'd be incredible.
Can you make a video of who should of been captains and vice captains in your opinion?
Imagine shuhei using his bankai on Gerard
A perfect opurtunity to show Kazeshini's ability is in Hisagi vs Byakuya fight, byakuya should have mortaly wounded hisagi or "killed him" with hisagi rising from the ground with chains visible inside of his wounds
I wonder if we see this in upcoming arc❤
At the very least, someone would have mentioned it when he released Shikai as we got reaction shots from almost everyone there
I always imagined the chain was the ability of Kazishini, but I merely imagined that he could change the length at will. Learning it was a Kido type all along, not a power type, was definitely a surprise
Great video but I don’t understand why people ask Tite Kubo didn’t do that or why didn’t add this🧐 smh
Waiting for him to talk about hollow Menos evolution
I think hisagi has to complete the life cycle to finally see his inner world he has to die first.
Really in the end, no Zanpakuto should just be "just a melee weapon" and by nature should have complexity and hidden powers too them... should the Shinagami be able to gain access to them.
Can you make a video of who you think would be the next generation of captains after the current ones
Hisagi true inner self is to be model shenigami so his blade is his trueself
In Bleach blade represent true essence of the person in I think.
Damn..!! Hisagi, you'r scary.👀
I really hope we get kira's bankai one day
You should try your hand at a battle analysis of all the fights that mostly took place off screen I.E kenpachi vs komomura and Yama against kyoraku and the right arms vessel. ( I plumb drew a blank trying to remember coughy coughs name.)
How do you think things played out in those instances though? What would you have done had you been writing those internal affairs within the soul society with what all it was going through at the time in consideration.
Ukitake
Question? @mrtommo2304 do you think Rangiku Matsumoto would have been stronger if Aizen hadn't removed the piece of the Soul King from her?
What if Nnoitra survived?
Maybe he had to die to activate it the first time
