Velcro was invented in 1941. Swiss engineer George de Mestral noticed how burrs would stick to his dog's fur. Out came the microscope and it was found the burrs had small hooks on the end, and the dog's hair had a natural "loop" to it. That's why you'll also hear Velcro called a "hook and loop" fastener. Interestingly, when your Velcro gets old and won't hold any more, it's the matted "loop," not the hook, that gets worn out.
I have finally made the YT post that is the sum of all my knowledge.
Sorry to report that this Swiss man who invented Velcro recently passed away. RIP :>) Jim C.
Keep the Velcro awareness coming.
@@Burnt_Gerbil Sense of humor??
Sometimes you get gently singe it with a lighter to bring some life back.
@@Burnt_Gerbil The clue is in the RIP... :)
Sean, this literally unlocked a part of my brain and the dots were instantly connected. I got out of bed to go play because it clicked so perfectly. Thank you so much.
Thanks Sean, you've done it again! The old dog here saw something else new (to me) to try!! 70 next Monday and never stop learning! Thanks much!! 8) --gary
@gtr1952… happy birthday Gary! 😊
@@alexander_winston Thanks so much AW!! It only hurt a little LOL 8) --gary
God bless you! Hope all is well 👍🏽
How is your guitar playing dude
@@spook6473 It will never be 'good enough'. 8) --gary
Cure - boys don't cry !! First chords of the A major key. Couldn't unhear it once Sean started the sequence ;-) Amazing to understand how they came up with this great song.
I was thinking the same thing!
@@jeffball6656 Me too!
Yep - That's the first thing I heard!
Same!
Yup 😂
Agreed on the Velcro shoes. I even wear them to work. I make fun of my wife when her shoe is untied. “Is mine untied? Oh, right. Velcro baby!” 😆
Until you try a Bolo lacing system, ' like snowboarding boots only available to be installed on any shoe or boot
Check it out!
@@lukewarren7857 - My toe shoes have that bolo style. Those are awesome, too.
I know I’ve commented on this vid before but I just rewatched it and am even more amazed at how informative and useful it is. This is going to be my focus area the next few weeks. Kudos again, Sean.
This guy is hilarious! A sense of humor makes all of this go down so much easier:)
Thanks for saying so!
Holy crap! I finally got it! I have been trying to figure out how to solo using triads to move on from the same old penatonic scales. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful
Ohh my goodness Sean ! Not just a lightbulb moment for me but a flash bulb moment. I’m so excited ! Been playing for years but never made this connection. Love your ramblings too. Cheers from Australia Australia 🇦🇺
Best video on explaining using triads for connecting chords practically I have ever seen. ❤ A huge puzzle piece just came together! Thank you sir. And rock all the Velcro you want
Finally. Omg this has finally after thousands of videos I have reached enlightenment. You have no idea you literally (unlocked) the fretboard for me. Thank you so much
Knowledge and good teaching, both delivered with humor-gotta love it! Thanks Sean!
Always happy to help!
Great lesson Sean, easy to understand and use. Isn’t it amazing that every UA-cam instruction channel has jumped all over the Triad-wheeled wagon, all at the same time.
I just discovered you last week, I appreciate how you simplify this is how I learn connecting one thing to another really helping me wrap my head around unlocking the neck thanks!
Great lesson. I am a self taught hack but I use the A and Am triads to play chords. Fun to add the major or minor pentatonic scales for the chord too.
I love you Sean. You're the Real Deal. I've been playing guitar since I was 9 and teaching since I was 14. I'm 57 now and I've been coming back to this all of my life. Rockon, Brother.
Finally! An explanation of application that makes sense to me. Thank you so much. I understand triads, but the actual application eluded me. Even though this takes you out of one position, which is what most people are going for, I can see the next set of usable notes much better.
This makes SO MUCH SENSE!!!! I should have figured this out by now! Thanks, Sean.
Now you know!
Best guitar teacher on youtube with a side of Paul Rudd vibes! Thanks for all your work - so helpful.
Thanks so much! I'll take it!
No. He's super annoying. He prattles on, and on, and on, WAAAAY too much. His lessons could easily be three quick and dirty minutes about PLAYING GUITAR, instead of yammering about dumb shyt like velcro for 10 minutes.
Wow just wow! just been learning my triad shapes and then you put this up linking the intervals together. No more internet tonight, got some practicing to do!
It takes skill to teach something so clearly and concisely. Thank you so much for connecting the dots for me on the guitar. And on top of that, you recommend items that are the best bang for your buck. Love it! I appreciate you!
I love triads for fingerstyle, especially love the openness of it
One of your best lessons, really opened my eyes to building riffs from chords, thanks also your historical insights into Velcro origin gives new meaning to hair of the dog. I’m 78, going to buy my. First Velcro shoes, a Sean tribute and wear them proudly in Denny’s
Think of me when you peel off that first strap.
Kinky.
Sweet lesson, love these triads!! Thanks sir Sean
Nice, I bet you're a good teacher. I am just starting the guitar this year and have a local teacher. Love the humor, never heard the velcro thing but it just sounds funny. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Great tip. It seems obvious now you point it out. It really shows how the chords are actually comprised of all the notes in the scale and how they all tie together. I'm going to play around with this idea. Thanks.
Unbelievably helpful. Thank you. Your lessons are so practical and clear! Huge fan.
Outstanding! Engagingly, (yes, engagingly), presented and clearly taught. This was really helpful. From another old dog that is learning some new tricks and ways of looking at things. Sliante!
Thanks for the clarity! Sometimes you know the theory but you have shown how to "see" and connect it all together! thanks!
Always happy to help!
My first video about triads. Super entertaining and simple to understand. Time for me to start learning a different aspect of play from just chords on an acoustic. Thanks Sean; I''ll tune in a lot more!
Happy to hear it!
Awesome Sean. Simplicity, love it.
Thanks Sean, this lesson really stuck with me. I practiced this the whole day. You couldn’t rip the guitar outa my hands.
Fantastic and a wonderful way to get too know the fretboard better-thanks so much
Thank you for the guitar triad guitar lesson. Appreciated!!
Amazing lesson, thank you!
So many questions answered. Thanks Sean!
I'm on a spin bike now watching this video because its winter and snowy out but I've got my velcro mountain biking shoes on but it's the same pair I ride with when I am outside on the trails too. Velcro rocks. As soon as I am done I am going to grrab my guitar and try this ! Thanks Sean 👍😎
Awesome explanation. Thank you!
Great lesson to get started into triads. You made it easy just like you always do.
This is helpful, working on using triads more. I have been such a scale-centric person but so many guitarists like Tim Pierce talk about how they are always seeing triads that I really need to master them.
That was a massive help. Thanks very much Sean
Pretty amazing! Thank you Sean 👍🏾👍🏽
This is a great lesson that really ties things together.
Brilliantly simple...Thank you!
So simple, yet awesome! 💥
What a great and simple lesson-well done and beautiful guitar-now I want one!
Great job Sean. This really helped me
Glad it helped!
Fantastic!
Well done! Sean
Thank you so much for this video - it will help me a ton.
Great lesson & great sounding, cool looking D’Angelico.
Great knowledge on your approach to Triads. Simplistic Approach & why not!
Thank
You!!
Great short lesson. I learned a lot. Gonna go practice now. Thanks for your knowledge and time. Velcro!
Sean! This Velcro idea is a sticky one. I was instantly hooked by your tips; so much so that I looped back around and watched this a second time.
Thank you very much. It is so helpful to know.
Totally awesome ! Thanks!
Found your videos through your anything tutorial, which was also very helpful (I literally couldn’t get the rhythm down until I heard you count it). Anyways thanks for the great video. I feel like I was the perfect subject / at the exact right level to appreciate your lesson. It’s like you gave the perfect nudge to connect parts of my brain that were already there but not talking enough lmao.
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks, I learned something from you. You are a good teacher
I've been lost in Bernth's shred world for a year. Thought it was time to pick up on chords again and this video was supremely helpful!
great content! Thanks Sean.
This is a great lesson. Thank you!
Amazing lesson thankyou 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Awesome lesson, and thank you for sharing your video ❤
Sean's the man.thanks for this very useful lesson.
Thanks for watching!
It's nice knowing that this triad run can be done without barre chords and sound great.
Great Velcro story but even better explanation of how to use triads...so easy!! Need to spend some time on the woodshed now. 🙏🏼
This is the lesson I needed!!
Same👍
Great work!
Job done well.
💪🏼👊🏻👍🏼
That’s one of the most useful lessons I’ve had in a while
Thanks once again for a mind expanding tip!!!
As always great lesson thank you
Wonderful lesson, very useful thank you.
One of your best lessons, very transferable to making music mindlessly. Thanks
Great video. Very informative. Cheers.
Wait!!! This video really blow my mind on how to unlock the fretboard!! Thanks a ton bruh!!! 🙏 i am gonna practice this down like hell...
Thank you, Velcro Man - you saved the day with your valuable triad and Velcro tips!
You made this absolutely digestible in the most interesting way. Give thanks 👊🏾💯
Very crisp and techno stuff. Great
Good stuff, I can always use to learn
Thanks for that ! So useful..
The run up the neck is what clicked for me. I've been playing for 17years or so (minus a few thanks to kids) and have just never been very exploratory around the neck. Back into playing now and having to learn new chord patterns and playing lead on occasion instead of just rhythm, I'm needing all the pointers i can get. The run made sense, now to rewatch and grasp the patterns that make it flow.
I’ve been working on ALL of the triad voicing’s over the past few weeks so I’m not jumping all over the neck… but I love this breakdown for every key. Thanks Sean!
Great idea! Thanx!
Thanks, great lesson
Shaun....I am so excited wirh this discovery....so simple...thanks much...win win for all!
OMG this is huge to me. Thanks!
Thanks Sean 👌 very informative lesson great work keep them coming
Hello from Northern Cyprus 🇨🇾 😀
thanks, my game has changed! great info, simply explained!
btw; the velcro bit was fun!
My man! Thanks.
This lesson is like Velcro, it works great and is easy to use! Long live Sean Daniels Awesome lessons and long live Velcro! 👟 🎸 😊
i'm good for revisiting your lessons but the amazingly
Re-watchable'ness of this lesson has helped me immensely.
Reminds me of the old nursery rhyme, “one, two, velcro my shoe 🎶”
Superb lesson…. I wish these lessons existed 40 years ago! Would have saved me 1000’s of hours!!
Better late than never!
Sean that's a really nice lesson 🎸
Thanks man!
Really helpfull. Thanks!
Great stuff
Great lesson bro! ❤
