    I changed the mirrors on mine because they were too condensing. For me safety was everything and I could judge distances better on the swap mirrors I fitted.

    I have the same bike 1983 model G1 but not as clean as yours, I did ride it for a few years but its been standing about 18 years. Also have a VFR750 1986 early version with a 16 inch front wheel.

      Cheers Terrance for watching and your comments. Standing GT G1 you say? I hope it’s undercover at least. Maybe one day you will get the time to get the bike going! An 86 VFR ?. Must be one of the first models. White or red perhaps! .Certainly worth hanging on to.

    You did well getting the S/S exhaust system, they're quite hard to find!
    Mine had an after-market system ... but mild-steel which inevitably got worse over time.
    Used S/S seem pretty rare now ...
    There's one firm on the interweb that fabricate systems for the 550 - but they charge a huge amount for them.
    Recently, on e bay - found someone selling
    4 into 2, just down-pipes and link pipes - for £190 (189£)
    They're chrome plated - the construction is pretty ropey .. the welds are a bit rough, but it's
    been the cheapest/and *available* option I've come across for a long while!

      Mine is an aftermarket motard exhaust I bought years ago. Original systems are very much obsolete. Thanks for watching.

    Haven't got around to looking into it in any depth, but I'm vaguely interested in the notion of
    converting to twin round clocks .... Future-proofing for when the circuit boards in the
    dash eventually cark it.....
    I don't like most of the 'hipster' custom jobs, but I do quite like the twin clocks, big round headlight
    'classic' bike aesthetics.
    I can't remember where now, but I've a feeling someone, somewhere converted a GT to chain
    drive too ... That's an interesting development. The shaft is very good ... but a disc rear brake
    would be nice, as the drum is prone to warpage

    • @andrewonmyway8184
      @andrewonmyway8184  Рік тому +1

      Twin round clocks would look nice. My clocks are now 40 years old and still are working just fine. There is really little to go wrong in there really. Sometimes I get a noise coming from the speedo drive but it does go away after a while. The shaft will outlive the bike. So simple. Change the oil now and again and off you go. The rear drum on my bike works so far fine. Mainly use the front anyway.The brakes on these bikes show the bikes age and have to be maintained. The inside of the aluminium drum can be carefully made round again using a lathe. Thanks or your comments and an eye out for future GT vids.

    I have owned one. Very good bike, underestimed. A blue one. Impossible to find in good state, the "makers" have massacred most of them.

      I know. It's a pity when people when people cut the backs off to create a café racer only never have the time to complete.

    I've always found the handling very, very good. The weight gives it a very solid feeling, and
    you can carry a good dollop of speed through corners if you want to...
    I've heard the GPz550 cams are a straight swap too, if more zip is appealing to owners
    not that it will make a massive difference, because of the weight

    • @andrewonmyway8184
      @andrewonmyway8184  Рік тому +1

      I've heard the cams are interchangeable between the old GPZs but not the GTs. I can't really see it making a massive difference. Thanks again 👍

    Had 3 GT550s, all very healthy, great bike, but the Gt750 was my favourite Kawasaki, more biking joy, than in 84, my nearly new Kawa.750 turbo, No bike Kawasaki, for 27 years, March 19 got a very very healthy 05 GSF Bandit 650 I., BEST bike ever, and I'm not even lying. 19, 20 months of BLESSED Bandit Time, Times, got a PhD Masters Degree, in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only, nothing technical. Sadly now a semi retired Banditateer fekkin Banditaholic, ruined for any other bike, and I ain't even lying.yours Scott Loch. Na, Professor Bandit B.T.E. out. ps riding the Bandit 650 I., was like being IN CONTROL of an ANGRY, CRAZY WASP, that thought it was a FIREFLY. Take care, nope not possible, secret was being in CONTROL.

      Thanks Scott for checking out my vid. There is a test ride on my channel too. Not Top gear quality, but I've had a go!. Always wanted to try the GT750. Was there really a noticeable difference?? Heard they had a few problems. Kawa turbo eh? Another bike I wish I had tested. Had a GPZ 900 myself 1990 model. Great bike! I can imagine the Bandit 650 is a bit of a monster a bit like my Fazer 600 Mk 1. 27 years without a bike eh? Welcome back to sanity! Ride safe!

      @@andrewonmyway8184 First proper ride in 27 years, March 19, after midnight, first proper ride, came upon a Perfect Storm of ACCELERATION on the Bandit,arms limp on bars, body slouched, ALL at the back wheel. 4th gear 6,500rpm., said 92 mph., true speed 89mph, red lines at 12,000, WHAT NO, WHAT NO YES, do over 80 mph before the red line ??, in 2nd gear. Ride safe, Take Care ???, Not a chance, can't take Care on a fuel inj. Bandit, see gap, Bandit will find gap. Important to be in CONTROL, was like being in control of an ANGRY CRAZY WASP, that thought it was a FIREFLY, such a joy. And yes, GT750, far better than the 550, heard the turbo was the first production bike any size, to do the Standing quarter mile in 10 seconds, mine did 161mph,, MUCH, MUCH rather have a very healthy Bandit, all about the Acceleration. The turbo had to be wound up to engage the turbo, GT 750, was always ready to go, and the Bandit's throttle response, was QUICKER than an Arcade game. Ride safe ??, reckon that will get a big laugh, at next Banditaholic meeting. The thought was there THANKS, BUT NO THANKS, is what I'd say if I wasn't a hopefully only, semi retired Crazy MAD Banditateer, fekkin Banditaholic, Prof. Bandit B.T.E. out.
