Van Halen - Why Can't This Be Love - Drum Cover

- Van Halen Why Can’t This Be Love drum cover. Coming from their last single “Hot for Teacher” with David Lee Roth, “Why Can’t This Be Love” as the first single of the album “5150” with Sammy Hagar is a huge difference. I can understand the criticism, but personally I love listening and playing this song. Just like the rest of Van Halen “5150” record :)

Perfect cover as always , you are excellent rock drummer i like all your cover !!!
Thanks a lot for the compliments, Bob! 😊🤘
Which heads are you using?
I'm using Remo Powerply's. It's a double ply head.
Thank you!
Why can't I hear the ghost notes?
They're there but I guess they got lost in the mix. It's more a habit then intentional playing ghost notes :)
@@TomDrums Are you triggering the drum sounds?
@@MrMurUK Yes, I use internal side triggers. They're pretty sensitive, but with really quiet ghost notes, as in barely touching the heads, the volume is lower compared to real heads. For me it works fine, it's only for practicing :)
@@TomDrums It's fair enough if you are happy with it, but I wouldn't be. I find triggered/electro playing can really flatter your playing/ I mean metal drummers do this so their hits sound cleaner/more consistent. My TD-6 certainly did but that was rubber pads, My TD-27 kit less so because of the digital snare. I don't want to be a debbie-downer but the hits in this video appear too clean for what you are playing (i.e. missing ghosts), so it doesn't look right to me. I did a recording with triggers once and only heard the result once it was mixed. The result was more precise than what acoustic would have sounded but all subtely and ghosts had gone.
@@MrMurUK For me it's finding the right balance so that the transition to my real kit is not that big of a difference. Because I tend to hit a little harder, I set the trigger sensitivity lower. The downside is that ghostnotes often get lost in the mix (I still hear them while playing with my headphones). I guess this could be solved if I bought more expensive central triggers, but because I'll never gig with e-drums and I'm fairly happy with this setup for practicing, I leave it like it is. For me e-drums will never feel as good as acoustics. At least not yet :)
AMAZING, MAN! Good job!
Thanks a lot! Much appreciated! 😬
Love your feel. Great sense of time man. How do you get those drum free tracks?
Thanks for the compliment, Joe! 😊 I strip the drums off the tracks with a program called "RX8 Audio Editor". There are many similar programs, but this one works great for me.
Good drumming, I wish you all the best! I leave you my like!
Thanks! Much appreciated!😊 Same to you!
That was great entertainment.
Thank you, I enjoyed that.
Thank you very much! 🤘😊

Many thanks! 👍😊
One of my favorite Hagar era Van Halen tunes. I was in high school when this came out and saw the 5150 tour. Great cover. You nailed the playing, the sound and the feel. Hope you have a great weekend
Thanks a lot for the kinds words! 😊 I bet you have some good memories being in high school when this song came out 😄
Wow you got the same expression like Alex van halen you can be proud😊
Thank you very much for the compliment! ☺🤘

No, sorry 😄
I pick only songs I can play, more or less 😄
Awesome Man You Nailed It
Thanks a lot lot for the compliment! 😊🤘
@@TomDrums okay
Tom can you do a drum cover of eyes without a face by billy idol pls thanks
Alex’s kick drum patterns have so much feel in this song. Never seems the same in the coolest way.
I agree! The biggest challenge (for me) with almost every VH song is trying to get the feel somewhere in the same ballpark 😄
Amazing!!! Great Job!!!!
Thanks a lot! 😊🤘
Your performance elucidated the angular and syncopated soundscape of Alex - that is inseparable from his brother’s guitar. It is just awe inspiring to watch how Alex
made those drums sing-through your excellent performance.
Thanks for the compliment! 😊. Alex's drum style and feel cannot be replicated. We can try to get as close as possible, but that's it! If you don't recognize him by his signature snare sound, it's his timing and feel 😄
A one of a kind drummer 🤘
Nice job dude! I'm not much of a Van Hagar fan, but this sounds good. You rocked it!! 🤘🤘
Thanks a lot for the compliment! 😊
Hi, I'm planning to do that cover and I really like how you play it and how you make your videos. If you like to do collaborative work, let me know. It's for my channel. my channel is very small.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! This is very much appreciated! For the future (att the moment I'm only studying songs for playing live), we sure can collaborate sometimes! My channel is small too, but I don't mind, it's just a hobby. 👍😊
Awesome cover all around!! Performance and sound is top notch!
Thanks a lot for the compliment! 😎
Great job🎶🎶🎵🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁💯💯💯🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟

Well done! REALLY Enjoyed this very clean playing
Thanks a lot😊
It’s not a difficult song, but it doesn’t need to be to be able enjoy playing it 😎
@@TomDrums agree I planned to do a van halen this weekend great minds think alike

@@TomDrums haha I will let it be a surprise not the same one you did

Hey,...a tight sound
Many thanks! :)
Nice job!!! I’m learning poundcake off your drum cover cause I can actually hear what you’re playing
Thanks for the nice comment 😊. Be aware that my drumpart may not be 100% accurate. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's not 100% accurate 😄
Yeah it’s not lol but that’s ok you have me a lot better clue what he was doing. His brown sound is hard to hear 😝
You completly nailed it!
Thank you very much! 😎

Oh man, the first real radio hit by the Hagar-fronted Van Halen; I've been hoping you'd do this cover!
Keep doing what you do, man.
Thanks for comment, Ethan! Much appreciated! 😎🤘
If I look back at it now, it was a bold move to come out with this song as their first single, especially when the last single with DLR was "Hot for Teacher".
Cara vc é sensacional, batidas precisas como os do Alex Van Halen, voltei ao passado... Parabéns!!!.
Thank you very much for the nice words! Much appreciated! ☺🤘
