  • SO YOU WANT to GO to the TRACK? WATCH THIS FIRST | Chasing PB’s in a 90’s Honda with JDM SPEC SERIES | B16A EK CIVIC at SOW
    We’re back out at Streets of Willow, running CW with JDM SPEC SERIES & EXTREME SPEED TRACK EVENTS🚗🏎️💨
    Took a few days before to spend some time in the garage prepping the EK Civic for a weekend at the track, checking fluids & making sure everything is nice & tight. We packed up our track day essentials & then made our trip up north.
    First time out at my favorite test & tune course with the S3 Suspension Street/Track Coilovers & it was a great chance to get a feel of the stiffer 14/10kg spring combo. Still can be dialed in more but overall I’m enjoying the new setup👌
    Track life can be quite an emotional rollercoaster at times, with some really good moments & some almost unbearable frustrations. Not every time goes as smooth or according to plan but sometimes you have to roll with it. However, if you can put your mind to it & keep pushing, hopefully you’ll cross that finish line with a big smile on your face🏁
    Would love to chat more about track prep with you guys! Drop some comments below on what you think your track day essentials are, as well as tips for beginners & first-timers. Also feel free to ask any questions & I’ll answer them as best as I can👍

    No point in doing a nut/bolt check without marking the bolts couple bucks on a bright paint pen and mark vital bolts with slash across rotating to stationary ensures at a quick glance everything is still tq'd to spec upon arrival at the track and or between sessions. Also highly recommend wilwood 570 or endless rf650 brake fluid for track days especially over parts store dot 3 and even more so if your boiling your fluid. And lastly I personally always bring a notebook and own for suspension & tire info/changes I make + corresponding lap time and track conditions especially if you have a pyrometer I'd be using it after ever session have your "pit crew" take outside middle and inside temps of all 4 tires to dial in psi + alignment especially camber/toe + dampening on the new suspension easiest way to make educated changes based on data instead of guessing.

      Thanks for the tips. Usually I would have marked the bolts but I didn’t have a marker on me. I did check to make sure things were tight when we got to the track. I’m running Motul DOT4 brake fluid in there right now and that’s been what I’ve ran since I’ve started tracking the car. I didn’t spend much time using the tire pyrometer to check tire temps because I didn’t change the alignment from the last time I was out there and also I didn’t have much opportunity to drive the car hard enough to take note of any differences on the first two sessions of the day. Towards the end of the day, I just was more focused on trying to clean up my driving to beat my previous best time. My “pit-crew” did well enough making sure the track side stuff stayed in order throughout the day and was very helpful in helping me set up our area while I was at the drivers meeting and doing little misc things like get the door numbers on or helping me get the GoPro ready.
      All good points though, thanks for sharing and I’m sure this will be beneficial to incorporate at the next event👍

      @@boomboomtisk Just want to share a friendly suggestion based on what I've noticed around here - consider trying out a Hytech replica header along with CTR cams and a tune 👍🏽

    • @boomboomtisk
      @boomboomtisk  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for suggestion! Yes, more power would be awesome but my goal is to see how fast I can go with a relatively stock b16 and 205/50 tires (similar to Japanese N1 spec Civic)😆
      The car does have a JDM ITR header and maybe will get a tune in the near future!

    Whats the Go-To bseries trans for this type of track? Obviously LSd.. but b16 b18c or b18b trans?

    • @boomboomtisk
      @boomboomtisk  4 місяці тому

      Whatever doesn’t grind😂😂 but honestly it’s gonna be dependent on what motor you’re running too. I have a b16 trans in mine and sometimes I’ve thought about trying a 4.7 or 4.8 final drive for short gear ratios. It’s not uncommon for people to run that type of FD on b series cars out at the track

    Bro you really need a short steering rack, try swaping it from toyota prius c it has 2.6 ratio lock to lock

    • @boomboomtisk
      @boomboomtisk  4 місяці тому

      Oh yes I agree, needs a shorter rack for sure. Been thinking about finding a steering rack out of an EG since they are a bit quicker ratio. I think they are 2.9 turns lock to lock, compared to stock EK 4 turns L to L

    • @boomboomtisk
      @boomboomtisk  4 місяці тому

      The spares are my old heat cycled 200tw tires. I’m not as concerned about the rear because most of the wear shows up on the front first. I also rotate my tires pretty often so it seems to work out. There’s no exact science to it tbh but I just figure it should help a little bit
