    What an awesome trip!! Can you tell me what rod that was in the beginning? Also the rod with the Lexi on it. Length and line class? I’m trying to build something similar. THANKS 🍻

      Well both were paired with custom wrapped rods the first was a cal star the Lexa was a custom wrapped UC monster 8’ 40 lb if you want a good rod for the Lexa I suggest a Daiwa Proteus 8’ 15-30 that’s a great rod for that reel 👍🏽

      Sweet you guys are gonna have a good time weather should be great I hope! Those are called Hookup baits! Just google them and order from their web site!!! They have them at Turners and at the landings… for off shore I use 3/8-1.5oz when fishing Pelagic’s and calico bass, everything eats them!! Wait for the chum to stop and as soon as the Cpt says let them go cast right into the chum line! Sardine green, mint, and glow green are my go to!

      @@skulpin1980 thank you , we normally hunt deer & elk out of state every year but we didn't get drawn this year after putting in for 5 different states so we bought 6 new rods & reels and tons of tackle , lures , ect...... we wont be out gunned I promise you . It's all new to us , caught plenty of Marlin , Albacore , dorado , Yellowfin , always chartered a boat in CABO . NOW we have our own gear ! we bought 2 Lexa a 400TW & 400HS-P on a 9' Phoenix Deckhand 20x60 lbs. & 8' Phoenix 25x60 . 2# OKUMA PCH-7'4" XX & 2# xxx , 2 # Penn 16 VISX's , 1 Talica 20 2speed & 1 Penn Phantom 40 2speed . I also have a Phoenix Megalodon 8' 30-100lbs. with a Penn Spinfisher V 10500 that I have used once for Tuna down at Dana point never caught a tuna on it yet I've only used it for rock cod I'm tacking it for back-up . Learning to tie knots & braids weeeezzzzz ! excited !! Once again
      Thank you

    What kind of rod are you using for the hubs I’m trying to find one for hookup baits

    • @skulpin1980
      @skulpin1980  3 роки тому +1

      Oh man all kinds! I use the Terez 8’ 65lb, Calstar 8’ 270 15-30lb, um UC 8’ 40lb Mega CT, Proteus 8’ 30lb, Teramar 8’ 65lb, when I am trowing the light Hubz 5/8 and below, I use the light lined rod setups when I’m using the heavy 1oz and above I use the heavier setups… my ideal set up for all around would be a Lexa 400 with a 65lb (braid) 7.5 - 8’ if I had to use one. Thank god we are aloud to use more than one rod 👍🏽🎣

    Do you just cast the hook em baits out with bait and reel them in? Or do you cast it and let it sink and reel it in?

    • @skulpin1980
      @skulpin1980  3 роки тому +2

      You use the HUBz by themself… And yes throw them out let them sink for as long as you like depending on where you want to fish in the water column a lot of the time they get bit on the sink if they don’t get bit I do a pump retrieve.. 👍🏽
