I‘ve been doing photo and video simultaneously for 2 years now. I agree with most things you say, but you absolutely don‘t need a Variable ND filter. The motion blur is highly overrated and most people don‘t see the difference. You would only see it with very quick movements and even then you only see it when you compare footage shot at 180 degrees with footage that was shot at a higher shutter speed. If the shutter speed gets too high just close the aperture a little more.
Works fine 99% of all times.

disagree that you absolutely need an ND. clients wont be able to tell with the motion blur and might even like the lack of it. suppose it depends if you want it super cinematic

Without ND your clients would look super blown out depending on environment

@@CAMphotography_ you can crank your shutter.

@@ccudjoe89 you could but if that’s not the look you’re going for then you need ND’s. A high shutter sometimes makes the video look unnatural

So what is the solution when you shoot hybrid after the sun has set and you start using flash but also need to use a shotgun mic for receptions?

Get a magnetic ND filter.. Easy to add or remove. I use the K&F filters

This is great. I tried it a few weeks ago at a wedding to practice. But honestly it makes better sense to do it at engagements since it’s more controlled. Thanks for video. Last question - if shooting in log, what’s a good source for luts/color grade?

Interesting! Although currently we still stick to separate video and photo just in case the client wanted a picture of a certain moment!
