A tip for reading Marlon James: I was having the hardest time reading A Brief History of Seven Killings, until my friend told me to read it like poetry. And it helped a lot, as soon as you let go of plot and characters and embrace the language it's beautiful. I haven't read this one so I don't know if it's the same, but since that advice helped me a lot, I figured I'd pass it on.

For anyone struggling with the "outbreak" challenge, I think Brandon Sanderson's "Elantris" would work really well for that one. Also is a story with multiple POV's, so you could double-up on challenges.
The Laini Taylor series definitely fits the star crossed lovers challenge too! In fact it’s the first thing that sprung to mind when you listed the challenges at the beginning.
I remember the plot twist in Three Dark Crowns as being quite mindblowing; it was very enjoyable for me. love love love the purple hair it looks so good on you :)
