Mine is a 1992 , Japanese imported NOS when delivered to me and for 2 years to this day , the memories of all other cars simply fade away . Both Derek and Jeremy Clarkson , if they are totaly honest , the XJ12 series 3 , is the car they will be buried in . No other car does what the mighty series 3 does so well in bucket loads .
I love these old Jaguars, my uncle used to have a twelve cylinder XJ and we used to wash it for him, I used to dream about driving it, and one day he let me have a drive around a track on private land, I was 16yrs old and will never forget him or his car, they were both great.
What a simply exquisite car. My friends XJ6 was eerily quiet while going significantly above the speed limit. The curves, the interior. Jaguar never produced a finer car. Neither did almost anyone else.
The XJ12 Series 3 ran up until 1992. Unless you really needed the shove of the V12, the injection 4.2 was all you needed but there was only 5 mpg or so between them so..... To fix the screen surround rust you need to take the bonded in screens out but if the car is a nice one, it's worth the couple of grand it'll cost to preserve it.
Love mine, has Kent alloys. Nothing like them in looks or driving. Little bit of the typical windscreen surround rust, hope to rectify over the winter.
Best of luck, I have a 1987 Jaguar V12 Vanden Plas Canada spec which is a Daimler Double Six but badged as a Jaguar due to Daimler not existing in North America because of trademark issues.
I had an earlier S1 XJ12 and even with the original Stromberg carbs it was a fabulous car to drive with serious mile crunching capability in almost complete silence. 👍👍 Not the most economical car I've ever owned though!😂
Strange at my age. Be the Jag not Daimler , escort cosworth and a 950 fiesta. If I win the euros no ultra tech junk you get now. I think cars are just adding tech for the sake of it now. Sat nav, safety, drive. Why would I need to think driving 70mph oh I need to order a mc Donald’s, tap screen!
Now that is stunning 🤩
The engine, colour and wheels that Daimler’s fantastic 😍.
When cars were cars, stunning colour and wow what a car

Oh beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
A beautiful car, don’t think I have seen one in that colour, pepper pot wheels are good.
Totally agree , you could drive a XJ6 for a couple of hundred miles and your body feels like you only drove ten . Glad I kept my 1985 series 3 .👍👍👍

Had a few of the sixes - used to run them as my everyday car in the 1990s - beautiful, effortless cars.
What a lovely jag ❤😊
At the time they were classed as the best car in the world !!

I get the impression that he quite likes that!
Very smart, a great alternative to a Rolls or Bentley and they fit in ordinary size garage.

@@Konformation07 That's interesting on the trademark, I didn't know that. All the best with yours too, they are fabulous cars.
Love that proper arthur daley metallic gold
Quality review by Dashboard Derek.
"Bit of a shame I'm here now"! That is a brilliant description fair play 🙌🏼
That immobiliser malarkey would drive me crazy!!
First thing to decommission if i purchased that Jag me thinks🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
A man after my own heart . Jaguar xj,s and cortinas.

Years ago I drove a white early XJ12 with carbs, I was shocked, incredible.
The colour is Arthur Daily antique gold 😂
Ding dong 😎
Series 3 body ran 1979 until 1992 , with the V12 using it solely after the XJ40 was released.
STILL a special motor 😊😊😊😊
THE ACCELERATION THE ACCELERATION...30 TO 50 2.9 SECONDS...50 TO 70 ....2.9 SECONDS ..
Thatcher had one after the Rover 3.5 she had when she came into office in '79. She stipulated that the upholstery should be West of England Cloth.
She had a 4.2 though, not a 12 pot.
Shame that the Daimler Marque is no longer used.
I’ll take that and the SL65 please….
My uncle had one in silver.
The Gold is too bright in relation to the standard colour

Not overjoyed with the colour. I'm almost sure it isn't an original factory colour.
It is a factory colour. It's Coronet Gold, and specific to 1982. This being an '83 may mean it sold later in the year.
