UA-cam and record companies need to figure out they are hurting artists through this system. Hopefully doing reactions to Dimash isn't something I need to stop doing in the future. Heres what's happened Caleb. Dimash has plans to go to tbe US, he has employed people to take care of his social media, in UA-cam case that's Yoola. Now Yoola have been blocking everything and Kanat has been trying to sort this mess out but it's taking forever. I would suggest writing directly to Dimash's news channel who have been receptive to emails if you word it so they understand its urgent, here is their email address copyright@dimashnews.com He has a press channel on UA-cam too the link is on his channel. @@JustMyOpinion1010 Everytime that a video/song was posted on Dimash's channel it would appear on other channels and sometimes higher in search results. So I guess they had to do something but they shouldn't touch reactions, especially professional ones... Because it's actually promotes him 🤷♀️

I did a big survey in one of the largest fan clubs, with many hundreds of respondents, about how people found Dimash. As I found him through a reactor, I was very surprised to find that only about 15-20% of the respondents did. More than 60% found him through the YT sidebar recommendation algorithm, almost everyone else through a personal recommendation. YT's algorithm requires people to be interacting with Dimash's own videos. So if they are doing a careful analysis of what is driving people to him, pushing Dimash's Dears away from reactors (which many of them spend a LOT of time on) and more toward more views on his own channel makes sense, as that increases his algorithm visibility. And that is one of the things that Yoola promises to do. Taking over reactors' monetization rather than blocking doesn't change those viewing traffic patterns.
However, I doubt that their analysis is that careful. And of course the YT automated Content ID system isn't capable of telling a leech reactor apart from a reactor/commentator like Caleb and several others who add value. It's a problem, but with 300 hours of video uploaded to YT every minute, there's no other way than to automate. I haven't had time to do a detailed email to the copyright address at DimashNews but I do intend to (I'm a law professor currently focusing on copyright/royalty issues).
This long reply isn't directed at you personally, but in the hope to offer some perspectives you might find helpful when you write to the copyright address at Dimash News. I'm unlikely to do that myself, so if you find anything here that you can use, please do, with my gratitude.
Dimash's largest fan clubs outside of China have something like 35K-40K members. His official youtube channel has 1.2 Million subscribers. Doesn't that mean that over 95% of Dimash's youtube fanbase doesn't belong to facebook fanclubs? There are a lot of us who don't join fan clubs for various reasons, but we've spent years promoting Dimash and his music through youtube reactors. It's arguably the most successful viral marketing campaign Dimash has enjoyed, and it's free. Most of the Dimash reaction videos are de-monitized by copyright claims (not strikes or blocks), so whoever claims the video receives 100% of the monies generated by inserting advertising in the videos. I "assume" a substantial portion of that has gone to Dimash. The reactors make $0 doing most of their Dimash reactions. It does help build their channel (if they do a good job at reacting), but the majority of the better reactors make Dimash a regular feature on their channels because they genuinely love his talent and enjoy his youtube fans. I remember before the Barclay Center concert, the youtube reactors were heavily advertising the event and providing links to purchase tickets. I remember when we were trying to get Dimash to a million youtube subscribers, starting from about 650,000. All the better youtube reactors were promoting his channel during their reactions, asking their viewers to please subscribe to Dimash's official channel and help him get to 1 Million. Some of them even included instructional videos of how to subscribe to Dimash, because not all youtube viewers normally subscribe to channels.
There have been interviews with Khizri, Igor Krutoy, Flavien (co-composer of "Love is Not Over Yet") and Piergiuseppe Zaia (composer and director of "Creators: The Past") talking about how they discovered Dimash on youtube, watching videos that are not on Dimash's official channel. Lara Fabian and Brian May both saw Dimash from youtube links sent to them from The Singer 2017 show---performances that are not on Dimash's official channel. Dimash's youtube reactors include recording artists, opera stars of the world stage, a few actors from popular American TV shows, and some very well-known and sought-after vocal coaches (for example, Ken Tamplin who has studied with Pavarotti's vocal coach, and whose own student has appeared on-stage with Andrea Bocelli). The goodwill and visibility built by Dimash's youtube reactors is immeasurable. These actions by yoola are potentially destroying what has taken years to build. Not to mention there are hundreds of thousands of Dimash fans who regularly watch youtube reactions, and who would otherwise not sit on Dimash's official channel just watching the same videos over and over every day for years. It's the youtube reactors who are providing fresh perspective and content about S.O.S. from "Singer" that means we (youtube fans) probably see S.O.S. at least five times/day.
I hope you don't mind this long rant. I, and uncountable thousands of others, are very upset about this short-sighted and destructive development.

Whoever Dimash has aligned himself with for business purposes is not doing him any good with this heavy-handed approach.

@@davidcullen6797 David Draiman's vocal on Disturbed's "Sound of Silence" is something even most Dimash fans can appreciate. :-) Most of youtube's sidebar recommendations for Dimash are reaction videos. That's another thing we'll lose if Yoola is successful in their purge. The videos from Dimash's official channel won't appear in the sidebar very often, since most fans will watch the official video a few times. The reaction videos bring us new content of Dimash songs every day, so Dimash basically lives in the youtube recommendations 24X7 365.
@@Snarky_Tart It's not a rant, it's an opinion and to be respected. I am amazed at what @Suzanna Moran explained, wow! I would not have imagined this (how could I of course, I am just a user of YT!). This is so interesting. Yoola is doing their job, to my "amateur"'s perspective, they are outdated, getting Dears annoyed at best, enraged on the worse days. I agree that they do what they are paid for, but as professional, they can also advise their clients.

Its a shame! I agree 100% with your argument, they really are hurting Dimash's music because this may snowball - there are so many Dears who react to him, what if all of them stop reacting to Dimash? To all people who are writing comments here: maybe you should put comments to official Dimash videos, telling that you disagree to the YOOLA behavior, which is destroying Dimash’s image and reputation, by forbidding people/fans/dears to react to his music...
A lot of Dimash reactors simply play the whole video straight through. Some of them have reactions that are fun. Yours definitely have more content. Maybe you can ask Dimash's management people to put you on a special list. I agree with you though. UA-cam has put Dimash on the map in the West. I hope they don't kill what is free publicity. They could be spending millions on what they're getting for free. It's sad though, to see so few views and subscribers on Dimash's own channel. Some UA-cam influencers' have videos that regularly log millions more views than Dimash does. Good luck. I really do appreciate the videos you create.
Why would you suggest he be put on a special list, or contact Dimash's management, I've never heard anything like this, he is a reactor.... his choice to do so....I love Dimash, but in my opinion too many want to get involved with his career........We are fans, we don't own him....

I’m very sad to hear this Caleb. You are by far my favourite reactor, your videos are always positive and informative and I always enjoy them immensely.
This is turning into a real issue as all the fan tributes are also prohibited from using more than 20secs of any of his songs. You can imagine how stupid it’s getting with fan tributes now being backed by music other than his.
I hope that there can be a more favourable outcome than what has occurred already with fans having hours if not months of work deleted.

This is terrible. Obviously nothing happened in 30 days. I did hear others actually contacted Dimash management and they got it cleared as kanat and Dimash are fine with people doing reviews. Heaps of people are still doing reactions , not even particularly educational ones so how come they are going through. It’s frustrating particularly as I have only found two Australian people reactors doing Dimash. There are hardly any Dimash fans in Australia. Even on the Sydney fan club most of the members are from overseas not from Australia. I think there is something wrong with the general australian’s ears. I have not been able to Dimashify anyone at all. They say yeah he’s great but listen to only the one song and no interest in listening to more and go back to their radio pop music Really?? People in other countries who would normally never listen to his type of music, still fall under his spell besides he sings every kind of genre in one song, so if you don’t like one kind, wait a few seconds ad he will change it (like Melbourne’s weather). I was watching a real heavy metal guy who loves Dimash and he says though he would normally get bored with something not heavy metal, he can’t with Dimash because he always does something unexpected, even when you are waiting for it, it still takes you by surprise, so you are always totally engaged. Why can I not find anyone here to enjoy being blown away with. He has fans from young teens to geriatrics and everything in between, why not Australians????

I really don't know. I think UA-cam probably needs to realise that in a dispute situation it isn't fair that the video is still blocked. I guess UA-cam needs to get pressured in some way.

Without getting into the parameters of fair use, I (as a law professor working in this area) do think that your videos constitute fair use under US federal copyright law. That's not the case with a great many reactors of the "leech" variety, however, as I'm sure you know.
YT has to be very, very aggressive about catching infringement because that is the deal it struck with US regulators so that it would not be liable for infringing content on its platform. UA-cam's automated system still isn't sophisticated enough to do a good job telling true fair use from infringement. YT is constantly trying to improve the accuracy of this system, but for now it is where it is. Unfortunately, the only other option is for creators to police all of UA-cam manually and on their own to find every infringement and that just isn't possible or in keeping with YT's regulatory obligations. So YT casts a wide net and relies on disputes to catch the occasional overreach. It's not perfect but it is the most efficient option technologically available right now.
The lack of certainty about whether a use is infringing is what makes it so difficult. It would be great if there were bright-line rules like you are OK if you only show 80% of the thing you are reacting to, but bright-line rules tend not to work when there is so much variation in what can occur. Moreover, that uncertainty is not limited to UA-cam. People make use of others' creative work not only on YT but in every kind of electronic, print, or audio media. Plenty of people outside of YT think they are making fair use of others' work and it turns out in court that they were wrong. In the USA, you are a lot better off violating copyright on YT, where the penalty is losing your channel after three strikes, than off YT, where the penalty is $10,000 *per violation.*
As for potentially infringing videos staying down when there is a dispute, well, it's unfortunate for non-infringing creators/reactors, but in my opinion that is how it should work. The reason is that anyone can file a dispute, whether their claim of fair use is legit or completely bogus. If simply disputing it meant the potentially infringing video went back up until the case was resolved, then *any number* of true infringements would continue for up to 30 days. Maybe the infringers are getting money that should go to the original creator, maybe the infringers are stealing views, maybe the infringers are doing something that is against the creator's will like overlaying five minutes of fart sounds, or actually doing something that could cause irreparable harm to the creator's image or reputation. (Imagine what somebody who had it out for you might do to one of your own MVs.) It doesn't matter why the creator wants to block the infringing use. The point is that the creator's legal rights to control who uses and copies their work would continue to be violated. That is, IMO, far worse than a legit reaction video simply being unavailable for a period of time. Assuming you win and the video goes back up and the strike disappears, your only harm is that you have to wait. At least nobody is abusing or stealing your own work in the meantime.
FWIW, what's worse is that this is indeed about Dimash's team. This isn't some random record company. It is DimashAli and its new multi-channel network partner, Yoola, which is now managing Dimash's UA-cam channel, including protecting his copyrights. I'm not sure why they have chosen blocking, although I have some suspicions. Frankly, I don't think they know what they are doing. Yoola does not represent musical artists, certainly not international ones. They represent Russian bloggers and social media influencers that have very little in common with Dimash's brand. They have improved some things on Di's channel and wrecked others. (New end cards that cover 75% of the screen for the climactic last ten seconds of a song? Are they crazy?) Many people have contacted DimashAli about the problems Yoola is creating, but most Dears don't know enough about how all this works to make very informed complaints.
It is very frustrating. Hopefully this will come to a more balanced place and legit reactors like you will be able to keep bringing new listeners to Dimash.

It's not really a record company, it's the company, Yoola, that was hired by Dimash's team to take care of his content and along with that the usage of his music. This whole thing just makes me furious 🤬 Dimash's team knows that a huge part of his success in the West is due to YT and reactions (80-90% imo). They/Kanat has said so and even featured some of the big reactors in at least two Dimash documentaries. Yoola is now plowing through YT like a bull in a china shop. They even had super short fan videos taken down because they used some of his music. And despite of that the email from DI's team that someone posted here says fans won't be affected, this particular fan was never allowed to put her video back up, never heard back from Yoola. It's absurd. If they continue to block videos instead of just claiming them it's going to hurt his career big time.
I agree it’s ridiculous. I wonder if Dimash or his father are actually aware of this problem? If only we could get this message across to them. Via the Dears fan clubs maybe?

@Vivien MC They are. Yoola is a company that was hired to do a job and details of that job were discussed before they actually started doing it - they don't (and can't) just do whatever they want. At least they have a marching order from their client (=Team DQ = Kanat). I think there were some small/fan accounts that were collateral damage in the beginning when Yoola started out. But everything that's happening now is signed off and wanted by DQ imo.
Dears/fan clubs have been very vocal about this since Yoola took over (hence the email/response from team dq that was posted somewhere on here).

Hi Caleb, sorry that YT blocked your video. I saw some people blurring the video that they reacted to to avoid that. Really love your Dimash reactions and comments. Hi, don't know if you're still doing reactions since it's been a couple months since your last video. However, I would like to humbly request that you react to another Nightwish song. I see you've only done "Phantom of the Opera" with Tarja. I'd like to see a reaction to something with their "new" singer, Floor. Start with "Ghost Love Score" and if you like that, I've got plenty more suggestions.

So I do not believe if Kanat or Dimash would have any problem with youtubers reacting on his songs etc

Please make a reaction of Diana Ankudinova's cover of "can't help falling in love" and don't forget to do something with the imagine, because NTV is also very strict now with all reactions of Diana.

so dears.. please tell dimash's management to ask "id right claim" than asking "blocking" .. bcoz dimash will take the money with "id right claim", it's 100% better than blocking= he wont get anything, and his music and its reaction will not go wider.. it's a pity to both dimash, his music, his dears, his potential new fans..

I definetely get why the team behind Dimash's music/youtube would want to stop some reaction videos because to be honest I think they do take views away from his official channel. I believe I've sometimes choosen to watch reactions instead of the official video since it feels like I'm sharing the experience with a friend.
That said I truly hope youtubers such as professional singers etc who is genuinely reacting under fair use won't have to deal with their videos getting blocked.
I know very little about music and as such I really appreciate their insights. They make me appreciate Dimash more as a singer and artist and I would very much miss their reactions to Dimash.

His "music analyst" "video channel genre" grossly infringes copyright! We who love Dimash wouldn’t want to see 1000 such videos with likes, that’s no interest to Dimas either. It hurts your music career. We don’t want tasteless videos either. We just want Dimas! Sorry but it is quite unacceptable to say that Dimash owes you his success! They would never look without him because you are unsolicited! You sit on Dimas ’back and ride his talent and disregard his right to decide what he wants, does your support ask? Although quite patiently tolerated so far, because he is a good man, but an artist has the right to determine who advertises and how! And the channel protects that! If you haven't been asked to do so, don't do it! Because that's how you use your talent! You copy Dimash’s songs, which is upstairs on a paid music site, that doesn’t benefit him either. If you love it, do it for free, as we do, but don’t make yourself an advertisement out of it! It doesn’t help with promotion because it spreads out the videos so you don’t really see how many fans you have, that’s a disadvantage, in terms of music awards too! He who is a musician and a singer should prevail from his own talent, not from commenting on others! Gather your own fans and do nothing else, suck it up because search engine optimization is better. Talent always finds its way and eventually everyone gets in their place, even without UA-cam, and that applies to you too! Sing your own songs and recruit your own camp, because it’s pretty devaluing for you to do that as a musician, instead of your own creations! Maybe you could be better than that! ? Thanks!
Well said, I'm not sure why he is so upset over this, and there was no need to post this video, if he has a complaint then he should do it privately, not use Dimash's platform and Dears to put it across.......And like you it makes me mad to read that he says Dimash will be hurt by this, and that reactors , including himself, are responsible for Dimash's success, which I feel is not only an insult to Dimash but also very inappropriate, ..Dimash owes him nothing......Dimash will will continue to be successful without reactors, and for him to say otherwise is ludicrous and rather self indulgent........ Hi Caleb, its something his new management company Yoola. They are really being restrictive to all the reactors now. Its a real issue & I dont think his team DimashAli, his father Kanat are quite aware how restrictive its become. We, who are his fan group, are really, questioning Yoola & his fan tributes are also being restricted. I do recommend contacting Yoola as well & his personal management DimashAli

This is INCREDIBLY ridiculous!!! Dimash is the huge success that he is in part because of the reactions/analysis videos!!!! I mean he made it on MTV in the U.S because of the Dears and the youtuber's pushing his music. This is a great disservice to the UA-camrs, but most of all Dimash!!!
One of the reasons I love watching your reactions is for the fact that it's not just a "reaction" video!!! You always give a detailed analysis of everything that the singer does making your reactions a teaching tool not just a reaction.

Many like me visit vocal coach "reactors" like you (in preference to lay reactors) to learn more about what singers like Dimash can do, AND how they do it. In fact, for 60 years I listened to "pleasant" music - it sounded good, and I never cared about "musicality" because it was seldom special. Then along came Dimash, and if it was not for people like you on UA-cam I might have thought there was something strange about me because I got a kind of "man crush" on him due to how his voice runs through my body (not just my ears)! YOU explained how this can happen.
You are right in that if we just want to listen to Dimash we can just go to his site - HIS content - and listen only to what he sings. I could do that on Spotify, and that's a completely different experience to actually "learning" something by watching YOU on UA-cam analyse and describe what is going on.
Is there any way that supporters of YOUR channel - me at least - can assist you with your case to UA-cam by emphasising the differences outlined above?

Hi Caleb, so sorry to hear this, especially as there are several reactions to Golden available now. They were getting blocked initially ... if yours was one of the early ones perhaps it’s got stuck in the dispute system. I have seen comments explaining that Dimash’s team are reviewing the copyright rules and giving the email address. Many of us have already written to them and given our feedback...which is that the reaction videos are a great promotion for Dimash and are the way most people in the west ‘discover’ him. I will share your video in the fanclub groups as an example of what’s happening. His UA-cam channel is now being run by Yoola and they have been making various changes but have been over zealous in applying copyright. We have also written to them.
You are one of my favourite reactors to Dimash, let’s hope this situation gets sorted 🤗❤️🇬🇧

I agree with what you are saying. I think Dimash started using a new company. I honestly don't think he would want this. The problem I have seen in the last year or so are channels just putting a song or video up with nothing else. It happens a lot with Dimash and worse it is often fans that are doing it. I know they want his music heard but just streaming his song under their channel is not helping. I have noticed it with other groups as well. I think originally he did this to stop the streaming of the online concert. He was not concerned about his songs and videos. So maybe the company has not quite understood his intentions. As Dimash himself knows how much having reactors helps. Maybe share this to his Instagram page or @ him I thin that is how it is done haha I barely use Twitter or Instagram so best someone that knows what they are doing does it.

Free speech has nothing to do with using another person's creative work for your own benefit or profit. Copyright exists to protect creators. Most reactors are nothing but leeches sucking views and subscribers off the hard work of artists. Caleb isn't one of those. The problem is that the automated system can't tell them apart. That's what the dispute system is for. It's inefficient, but with 300 hours of video uploaded to YT every minute, there's no other way.
I don't think stealing someone's voice and creative work is included in the 1st amendment. Caleb is great and adds value I really appreciate what he is doing, but it must be the artist who decide over his or her work. Don't you agree JennySue? If Dimash has chosen (russian) Yoola, that must be respected.
My guess is he has made some new deals with current and or future music. To me it signals a deal in the west. It most likely means a bigger more commercial move which will be awesome for his career. I could be totally wrong. I’m sorry the issues it’s causing.

Just to add to the complexity of all this, Australia doesn’t have fair use laws. I can’t remember what it’s called, but it is even harder to don what you are doing. I’m an Australian videographer and Australian laws make it illegal to use even small video clips from others.

The same thing has happened to another youtuber, Marcos Barba, who reacts to Dimash in Spanish. You, Caleb, and Marcos are my favorite persons who react to Dimash. What is happening to UA-cam or whoever is doing this? I agree with, someone is blocking, not only you, but also dimash.
I really agree with you. In Germany a new law is coming, that youtube is responsible to keep the copyrights. So not more than 20 sec of a original song will be aloud in one video. I`m really worrying about the youtube culture, especially for Dimash. A lot of people get to know him only because of UA-cam and UA-cam reactors.

I do not really understand the whole blocked and copywriter issue. I do know know that I use to be able to get on UA-cam and see all his songs and reactions, and now I can’t and I am being left to wonder why. Then I go to another channel and they are playing it with no block.Then I go to another channel and it infers that it has been blocked due to Dimash’s stricter copyright issues. Since we are the ones that don’t get to see it,I feel like it’s some kind of message to us.I just don’t know what it is.I will never be in a position to go to one of his concerts, but when I turn on my Tv all I truly want to do is to be able to enjoy watching him perform,he is unparalleled.l want to hear his music,but another part of it is to see him perform it and not be caught up in these issues.I don’t want to turn on my Tv and not be able to just relax and enjoy it. Dimash is the first performer I have ever thoroughly enjoyed. I don’t think what you said really explained the real issue since it’s happened to a lot of other reactors too.I know the reactors have to react to other singers too,but I would love to go back to the days when I could relax and enjoy Dimash without all these issues.
