Annual pass at Disney for over 20 years. They keep raising the price sometimes twice a year. We’ve been annual pass at Universal for three years. They emailed me and said if you renew now will take 20% off and give you three free months.
Not gonna lie DFB, I'd LOVE more universal content on this channel! Our kiddos are aging out of Disney magic and we're planning a Universal trip with an after hours event at Disney to keep vacations affordable. I'd even be up for Seaworld content!
We’ve done the same thing. We had an absolute wonderful Universal trip over the summer. Only went to Disney one day (MK). Stayed at Cabana Bay for 8 days. Also did Seaworld and BG Tampa (platinum pass holders) they have a shuttle you can get to Tampa. No regrets of cutting down Disney.
One thing we prefer Universal over WDW is how easy to plan for the trip. No need to make reservations months ahead, no need to stress out about booking LL. Just book one of their premium hotels, all guests in the room will get an express pass, Universal version of Fast pass to skip the line! This, is the best feature ever!!!!
👆🏻 this right here is why we keep going back to Universal! Our last Disney trip (2014) took a year of planning 😩 universal we did on a whim in 2021 and walked away with seasonal passes (out of state much more affordable than Disney too)
One correction! Pool hopping isn’t allowed from Endless Summer to anywhere else. From Cabana bay up it is allowed but Endless Summer can only pool hop to the other endless summer x
You guys need to continue and make regular content for universal. Disney is losing ground and with the new Universal park opening in 2025 will probably make it the leading attraction to Orlando
We have taken Disney trips in the past but are considering a Universal trip. I just said to my partner, "I really need a Universal Food Blog" so we can get AJ's advice on planning our trip.. and here you are! Obviously very in tune with your audience! 🤩
Epic Universe seems like an attempt to deliver a less ride-centric experience. There will be several shows, interactive elements in the lands, and a lot of themed restaurants. The hub area is huge and seems designed to provide a relaxing, beautiful escape for people who don't want to chase rides all day, with water features, fountain shows and garden areas.
I can honestly say that Universal has the larger crowds right now. We did both Disney and Universal this last year in three different trips. Universal is killing it. When we went to MK the last time, kids said they were done by 2:00 and wanted to go back to Universal.
For me, Disney and Universal are not in competition there. Both being in Orlando makes me want to go to Orlando even more. I might not have preferred to go to Orlando if it was only Disneyworld or if it was only Universal Orlando. I am going there to see both of them
Thank you for Universal content 🙏😁 Heading there very soon and this came just in time. And I will for sure be planning a trip once Epic Universe opens.
The best part about the Mardi Gras parade is that guests can actually get on the floats and throw beads. My husband and I did it a few years ago, and it was amazing!! Something we'll never forget. We love Universal! We try to go every year. ❤
There are 5 other rides at Universal that have no height requirement. 1. Caro-Suess-el 2. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue fish 3. Storm Force Accelatron 4. Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast (no height requirement, the only requirement is that the child is able to stay standing up. They also allow people to stay on wheelchairs on this attraction as long as it's not electric or motorized). 5. Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl Bonus: Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (if you go on the stationary seats/benches. The height requirement for Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is 40 inches).
We're planning a trip to Disney and Univeral (staying onsite Disney) for fall 2024. It'll be our first Universal trip - super excited for more universal content!
Just a couple of days ago I started looking at dates and prices for early December 2024. An 8 night stay at Aventura, r/t airport shuttle and 2 park 4 day tickets was $1423 for the 2 of us An 8 night room only, yes ROOM ONLY, stay at Pop Century was $2280. That is just crazy! With the $800+ difference we can also go to Seaworld and Busch Gardens and pay for a lot of our food. Looks like the only money Disney will get from us on that trip will be if we just can't resist and go to O'hana.
Thanks for adding in more Universal content. I have often longed for a channel as lovely as yours which offered the same in depth coverage you give us for Disney! This is great news you plan to do more universal. I may even suggest that you have a separate channel devoted to Universal! But for now, so happy to see there will be more Universal content coming! Your channel is terrific! I share it with people all the time! Keep up the GREAT work!
It’s actually crazy that you guys posted a Universal Video because I was just telling my Husband that we NEED Universal annual passes because of the free flash pass that’s included in it. Don’t get me wrong I love Disney, but having to pay 35-50$ every time I want to ride Guardians or get DisneyGenie is starting to add up ☹️
Went to Universal on a whim in spring 2021 after comparing prices between US and Disney. Left with annual passes and have gone back a bunch of times since. Our last Disney trip was 2014 and I don’t have the energy it took to plan a return trip. Universal the hardest part is figuring out flights or drive (from MA). Portofino is our favorite hotel when it’s busy but slow season Cabana Bay stole our hearts. Love the theming and being able to walk to the parks (so far we’ve stayed at Endless Summer Dockside, Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, Portofino, and Cabana)
If I had to pick one Universal resort to stay at, it would be Cabana Bay. That place looks amazing. It looks like they took the concept from Disney’s Pop Century Resort (the place at Disney where I would choose to stay for a solo trip), enlarged it and did it in a classier way. Ordinarily I would say Hard Rock, but from what I’ve heard the rooms are in desperate need of a lot of TLC.
We’ve stayed in the family suites at Cabana Bay last week and our room was showing some wear and tear, we still had a great time (and I let the hotel know with the survey the few areas that need some attention for our particular room). Love being able to walk to the parks
Im so happy you made this video! You helped me so much with my Disney World trip but now my husband and I are considering going to Universal! You're the best!
Universal Studios (Islands of Adventure) also has a Ton of Child Themed Areas. One of them is called "SEUSS LANDING". It's Absolutely Amazing with the Dr. Seuss Theme most of us grew up on 😂!! They have: The Caro-Seuss-el, If I Ran A Zoo, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, The Cat In The Cat, The High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride amongst many others...I love this area with my Family & grandkids. They even have The Popeye Area, Camp Jurassic & The Jurassic Park Discovery Center along with their Character Meet & Greets, Shows & sooo much more. These parks are Amazing. You have to try it for yourselves. You will not be disappointed 🤩💕!!
This was a fun change of pace! Thanks for varying up a little. Still LOVE your Disney videos though! Went to USF this summer with my twin brother for a grown up vacation and because it was Jurassic Park’s 30th anniversary! Stayed at Cabana Bay and loved the 50’s-60’s vibe! Enjoyed the heck out of all 3 parks! Volcano Bay only scared me during the walk up to their tallest speed slide, acrophobia and stairs jutting out into space don’t mix well. All the rides were great and we even got a rare express pass onto Hagrid’s because we had lots of fun with the express pass saleswoman! She was super nice! And every chance I got, I got on Popeye’s or Dudley’s! They’re so cornball and fun I will never get enough!
Video idea. The logistics of adding a Universal excursion to a Disney trip. That's what I'm looking at right now and it's complicated. How do I get from WDW to US? I have two in carseats and a stroller. I just discovered the shuttle, which means the carseats are no longer a concern. Which park is more work? More crowded? I keep hearing that Citywalk is amazing, but it honestly looks like nightlife and adult entertainment. Should I split a day between the Springs and Citywalk, or slip through Citywalk on my way back to the bubble? I'm considering getting US fast passes and going on the weekend, making my weekend days US and the Springs so my WDW park days are only on weekdays. Or should I do US on a weekday and AK on a weekend? If you're dedicating four to six days to Disney, do you want to dedicate two to US or is that a waste of time? Universal Studios looks different as an add on than it does as a stand alone and I don't see a lot of people talking about it. Love the video! Thanks!
im going in july and i literally cannot wait me and my family did disney last year and it was honestly the happiest ive ever been, ive never been to universal before, so i am extremely excited i keep watching these videos just missing disney and getting excited for universal, IM SO EXCITED
Living in Brasil, I find it so hard to even consider going to Orlando and not doing both Disney and Universal. For us it's such a grand investment to go there that, in order to make it really worh it, we just HAVE to save the money for both, 'cuz who knows when we'll be able to visit again?! Also, hope you keep doing Universal content as well o/
I haven't visited WDW parks since before 2020. Held off visiting Universal because I'm not familiar with most of the themes and unlikely to shop for items. By now WDW themes have also become unfamiliar and the parks are more expensive. Ride experience is my preference to the rest of my family. WDW dropped some concert events which Universal has kept. Since we are local, we can wait for off season.
Our family went to WDW in aug 2022 so next year we are skipping the disney parks and doing a DCL cruise. Before we board the cruise we are planning for 2-3 days at universal parks.
This is so appropriately timed! I’m not going in 2025, but I’m going for my son’s 9th birthday in 2025 so I’m definitely interested in more Universal content!
I agree with you that Disney is more family with little kids oriented, much more options for the kids up to maybe 12?years old. Universal apart from Dr Zeus land doesnot have any other options. The paredes and fireworks and dinner options are also better in Disney. But, for me personally, Universal cost, ride and CROWD wise is much much better and entertaining. My kids are teenagers and they love Universal, we are waiting for Epic Universe to open to plan our next vacation. I usually stay in the deluxe universal hotels, the perks of the express pass are really great. We will be going to Hollywood Studios because we are star wars fans, but just that park. Very happy you are doing Universal Content.
Great video. I massively prefer universal to disney but have annual passes to both. But good information on hotels. Ive stayed at all of them. Love the features
I’m so bummed I missed this video when it dropped!!!! I have been saying for YEARS that I would adore a UFB UA-cam channel, especially around Mardi Gras and HHN. Please please please, more of this! We love both universal and Disney but universal will always be home, namely because of all the spontaneous live shows, which are sadly disappearing from Disney 🥺
So happy to hear your voice. Usually listen to your WDW info but this year we are switching teams. Haven't been to Universal since 1990. Glad to see this video.
woohoo, about time y'all did some Universal content. Been going regularly to both Disney and Universal since 2000, and love both, Totally different vibes, and that's a good thing. Looking forward to more videos. We've already got Mardi Gras and HHN planned for this year.
As a kid, I was all about Disney, and as I got older I was too cool for Disney and loved Universal. Now that I am getting even older I am leaning back toward Disney. I can't handle Universal's screen rides (motion sickness) and super rough coasters.
We planned a surprise half and half trip last year and my kids were upset when we were in Disney. They asked that we please just do universal studios next time.
Any chance you'll do any Universal Studios Hollywood videos? It is the OG Universal park that is connected to an actual movie studio and you can still ride the tram through the backlot! Plus, many people who come to visit Disneyland take a day to visit Universal Hollywood as well.
One huge difference between Disney and Universal that you did not mention, is the customer service. Disney has cast members. Universal has employees. :-) I won’t give any specific details, but the difference between how I’ve been treated at both places is like night and day.
The way that Universal offers the unlimited Express pass to deluxe hotel packages is a game changer for my wife and I. We'll happily pay for the premium hotel stay to wait less than 5-10 minutes for almost any attraction at USF and IOA. It makes you feel like a VIP and you don't have to plan out ANYTHING ahead of time. So, your vacation ends up being much more relaxing and spontaneous. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I honestly believe that, if Disney could restructure Genie+ to more closely mirror the vacation package offerings of their competition down the road, they would keep their deluxe resorts full all year round. Imagine a stay at the three monorail deluxe resorts earning you free unlimited Lightning Lanes, maybe just except for the current pay-per-ride ones.
I plan to do Disney in 2024 and Universal in 2025. I hope Universal doesn't increase annual pass prices with Epic Universe, but I have a feeling they will. I hope it's worth it.
I was JUST thinking today - I wish there was a DFB for Universal so I could plan meals for my January trip! And then this comes up!! Merry Christmas to me!
A little misleading on the hotel info. Sapphire Falls is the only hotel in the Preferred category and Deluxe (Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, and Royal Pacific) hotels are the ones that offer Express Pass.
We can do both Universal parks (Volcano Bay is not a 3rd gate no matter what their fans say) in a day so it's not worth staying there and transferring back and forth to Disney. Plus, I just don't like Universal as much as I like Disney. I'm biased.
Good video, but should correct/update the hotels section because there’s 4 hotel categories (in order highest to lowest): PREMIER, PREFERRED, PRIME VALUE, VALUE 🙃 oh and Value hotels cannot pool hop FYI 🙃🙃
I have loved Disney for 40+ years, but have given up on the company, at least for now. I won’t be returning until they make some significant changes. LOVE Universal! One tiny note of correction: Dr Doom isn’t actually a drop tower ride. It launches you from the ground, with only a brief moment of freefall. :)
I haven't been to Universal since the 90s. Probably not going back until Epic Universe opens. Even then, I'll just add 2 days to my 6 day stay to include Epic Universe. I own shares at Disney, so Im not going anywhere.
Everyone has their own opinion of course but for myself and my wife visiting from the UK, we have no kids and will go to Disney Springs to enjoy the food and it’s nice to look around but when it comes to the parks, it’s not even close. Universal is so far ahead ( for what we want 😊)
Compare the prices of std hotel with added express pass vs the deluxe hotels that give u the express pass. Stayed at royal pacific in 2017 and express pass even then saved oodles ot time in lines.
Will definitely re subscribe if you start covering the universal parks and hopefully the SeaWorld parks too…. We was, and still love Disney, but as our children grew out of Disney quite quickly, we have much preferred to visit these other parks in orlando the last 6-7 years… and with all of the bad press, negativity, overpricing and crowd levels at Disney, it does make a difference as to how we see, and feel about the Disney brand/parks now, we’ve even priced Paris Disney for 4 nights from the uk and it was scandalous prices… universal is far from cheap or reasonable, but we are only looking to return to visit universal… 👍🏼🇺🇸🏴
As a lover of intense roller coasters I love Universal, but Rip Ride Rocket really needs to go! It’s a shame bc I absolutely love coasters with music, but that ride is unnecessary rough, the actual seat/ride vehicle is super uncomfortable, and something about the design makes my vision go dark/feel lightheaded at a certain part of the ride every time. You come away feeling mildly concussed. This all could just be a “me problem”, but I ride a lot of coasters and RRR is the only one that causes the vision/lightheadedness thing for me 🤷🏾♀️
I think it's safer to do Universal Orlando in 2024 and then Hollywood in 2025, because I desperately want to see Mario without the "brand new" crowds, and try out Jurassic World
Does anyone know what day Universal has the Christmas decorations up usually? I have a couple weeks off work starting November 11 and was hoping to see Christmas lights on vacation.
I'd even be up for Seaworld content!
you can never age out
@@ao1ntwo90lol of course you can.
ew SeaWorld is awful. They abuse animals don't support them
We’ve done the same thing.
Universal has always been more fun, even when I was Disney age😭

Will do! Looking forward to Epic Universe. We'll still cover Disney in-depth as always, but I'm excited to explore Universal here as well.
@@DFBGuide I'd just drop Disney lol, they're SO anti consumer. I'm planning a trip in off season until the httyd land is completely done.
We saw some SERIOUS crowds at Universal this week for sure!
same with me! hollywood studios and magic kingdom are half day parks.
Don’t even need to watch this the answer is yes
Thanks for covering Universal too. We split our time between the two and love them both. Looking forward to hearing AJ tell me all about it!
There are 5 other rides at Universal that have no height requirement.
1. Caro-Suess-el
2. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue fish
3. Storm Force Accelatron
4. Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast (no height requirement, the only requirement is that the child is able to stay standing up. They also allow people to stay on wheelchairs on this attraction as long as it's not electric or motorized).
5. Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl
Bonus: Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (if you go on the stationary seats/benches. The height requirement for Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is 40 inches).
Good tips!! Love the Bonus!
I've been waiting for this crossover! Keep the Universal tips and videos coming!
We're planning a trip to Disney and Univeral (staying onsite Disney) for fall 2024. It'll be our first Universal trip - super excited for more universal content!
YAY!! Stay tuned; we've got some good ones planned.

Not in 2024, but we definitely plan on going. We are happy for the Disney competition!
Yes do both! We have passes to both, but as locals, we definitely use our UO ones a lot more. Esp for Mardi gras

Please talk more about universal especially food options there
Video idea. The logistics of adding a Universal excursion to a Disney trip. That's what I'm looking at right now and it's complicated. How do I get from WDW to US? RixFlix is the best! 💛
I will be doing a universal and sea world vacation this upcoming year! Can’t wait. Disney can’t be beat but nice to change it up

Short answer YES!!!!!!………..
I love Disney but universal has become much better deal than Disney
Rider swap is key for my family of 4. My 11 yr old daughter is not a thrill or dark ride lover. So glad to learn Universal offers it.
Great video. I massively prefer universal to disney but have annual passes to both. But good information on hotels. Ive stayed at all of them. Love the features

UO is awesome. Plain and simple. And the rides are on-average better too! VelociCoaster is the best ride in Orlando.
I'm going to Universal's Island of Adventure in June with my wife. Your videos covering Universal couldn't be more timely!
The real Universal trip should be in 2025 when Epic Universe opens. Super Nintendo World and Universal Monsters are going to be fantastic.
As a kid, I was all about Disney, and as I got older I was too cool for Disney and loved Universal. Now that I am getting even older I am leaning back toward Disney. I can't handle Universal's screen rides (motion sickness) and super rough coasters.

That’s so interesting! How old are your kids? My oldest is 5.5 and I already feel like he’s more interested in what Universal offers.

One huge difference between Disney and Universal that you did not mention, is the customer service. Disney has cast members. Universal has employees. :-) I won’t give any specific details, but the difference between how I’ve been treated at both places is like night and day.
We go to universal several times a year. Love it. Wouldn't go to Disney if you paid me
The way that Universal offers the unlimited Express pass to deluxe hotel packages is a game changer for my wife and I.
I will be going to Universal a lot this year. They have a GREAT military discounted year pass (only $210!!!). Already planning on a Mardi Gras trip
Universal rules the theme park vacations. Wonderful video and certainly wonderful place to visit.
I plan to do Disney in 2024 and Universal in 2025. I hope Universal doesn't increase annual pass prices with Epic Universe, but I have a feeling they will. I hope it's worth it.
Great coverage of Universal Studios! We are dumping Disney this for a Universal Studios experience later this year! 😎
I was JUST thinking today - I wish there was a DFB for Universal so I could plan meals for my January trip! And then this comes up!! Merry Christmas to me!
Im 100% sold now !!! Im going to book our vacation with universal and sprinkle in some Disney days
I just got my 1st Annual Pass for a Theme Park and I chose Universal Studios as t seems to treat their patrons and parks better atm.
A little misleading on the hotel info. Sapphire Falls is the only hotel in the Preferred category and Deluxe (Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, and Royal Pacific) hotels are the ones that offer Express Pass.
We always go to both
Great video! Could we possibly do a universal hotel ranking video?? Also is it just the 3 top hotels that offer the express pass?
So much LESS stress going to Universal! No schedules and phones needed!
Love not having to use my phone unless I want to take a picture!
Package delivery! Don’t forget package delivery to Universal hotels while in the parks!🎉
We can do both Universal parks (Volcano Bay is not a 3rd gate no matter what their fans say) in a day so it's not worth staying there and transferring back and forth to Disney. Plus, I just don't like Universal as much as I like Disney. I'm biased.
Thank you for sharing this! Love having different viewpoints from people who have experience.
Good video, but should correct/update the hotels section because there’s 4 hotel categories (in order highest to lowest): PREMIER, PREFERRED, PRIME VALUE, VALUE 🙃 oh and Value hotels cannot pool hop FYI 🙃🙃
would love to see a food tour of the Harry Potter areas!
I can DEFINITELY do that for you!
Thanks for the info. I prefer Universal for the rides. Rock-‘em sock-em action. Fun for everyone. Meow meow ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes! Universal Studios!! This is very fun content❤
I am normally watching for Disney content, but I REALLY ENJOYED THIS, AND KINDA MADE ME WANT TO GO!
So what you're telling us is that in the battle between the 2 major resorts, Disney is not smart enough to win by offering perks
Yes! Every time I think maybe we’ll do Disney and I start to compare I give up and go back to Universal 😂
We want MORE Universal!
Im going to universal. After disney last year costing me 8k for 5 days last year not including travel from Maryland.
I haven't been to Universal since the 90s. Probably not going back until Epic Universe opens. Even then, I'll just add 2 days to my 6 day stay to include Epic Universe. I own shares at Disney, so Im not going anywhere.
My family and I are going next year! Can't wait!
Wow glad you did this going to go one day on our Disney trip next year!
Those hotel rates vary. I just checked for next year. The dates I wanted to go rooms where 825 a night!!!!
This all could just be a “me problem”, but I ride a lot of coasters and RRR is the only one that causes the vision/lightheadedness thing for me 🤷🏾♀️
What good is the express pass if everyone has it
I think it's safer to do Universal Orlando in 2024 and then Hollywood in 2025, because I desperately want to see Mario without the "brand new" crowds, and try out Jurassic World
Does anyone know what day Universal has the Christmas decorations up usually? I have a couple weeks off work starting November 11 and was hoping to see Christmas lights on vacation.
Universal is a must for us, even when the kids were little
When is it peak and none peak season?
The amount of incorrect information in this video is WILD.
Universal is awesome 😎
