    He's smaller, skinnier, looks more trustworthy, but is stronger and more intelligent/strategically/tactically superior to the 800. Easily the most menacing villain in the entire franchise. It took an 800 and Sarah to bring him down, and they barely did it. T2 is such a great movie.

      I wasn't born at the time it was out till six years later. Watching T2 as a kid the first time, I mostly thought he'd be a hero like how it was in the first movie. But when he turned out to kill John at that moment after Arnold told John to get down, I remember being confused at that point.
      I then learned that looks can be deceiving. The way he looks, the way he acted, he blended in very well in a sense that we thought the T-800 was the one sent to kill John in the beginning

      personally he's my favourite out of all the Terminator movies, but one thing is bugging me maybe it was explained in the first movie: couldn't the machines send back multiple terminators in time? Ya know give the humans an unfair fight.

    • @abdulqudz89
      @abdulqudz89 10 років тому +19

      XXLSSBBW they could've done that. but if they did send multiple terminators back through time, humans would find out about the future more quicker, not to mention the involvement of the military which is backed by the government.

      abdulqudz89 not if the machines were careful and covered their tracks, but ya something might tip someone off. The other thing that I got to ask is: Can't the machines have self-destruct? Like in T2 future John sends a reprogrammed T-100 back in time to protect his kid self, wouldn't the T-100 just destroy itself so that the humans can't use it in any way. Wither it be for protecting or to try and learn of any weaknesses the machines may have and Cyber-Dine overlooked them?

    It's music like this why the T-1000 was light years better as a Terminator villain compared to the T-X, let alone that pathetic T-3000. You felt the menacing and vile aura of this machine and saw how unpredictable and unstoppable it truly was an infiltration unit. It could take on the form of someone you knew and kill you without warning.
    What also separated the T-1000 from those other Terminators was the fact it was more of a silent assassin. It didn't use fancy plasma blasters and stuff like that to get the job done. Just metal blades in the shape of liquid metal. Sure, I love the plasma cannon of the T-X, but when you really think about it, it's about as subtle as a rocket launcher. Considering the Terminator's mission was to kill its target and do it without drawing too much attention to prevent the humans from finding out about Skynet and its origins, the T-1000 truly was the superior model of that.

      I actually kinda liked the t3000. It actually acted like an amicable human being. Doing its job as an infiltrator well. Unlike the tx that acted like a creepy, stilted alien instead of a machine literally designed to fool humans into thinking it was one. Plus I liked the nano-machine angle that the t3000 was going for. It felt in line with the 1000. Terminator 5 totally fucked up the execution, but I think the t3000 is a cool robot.

    The most frightening thing is that it is not evil, it is just a machine that does what it is designed for, just like a vacuum cleaner in your house. You don't think your vacuum cleaner is evil, do you? And this theme perfectly conveys this, it's like the sound of some kind of conveyor in a factory, which is also not evil.

    • @Gantradies
      @Gantradies 5 місяців тому +1

      That’s the thing that actually makes the T-1000 so much worse-
      Most of the terminators you see are operating off cold logic to fulfill their programmed mission.
      It/He -isn’t-.
      You see it slowly… change over time, slowly diverting from just following directives…
      You start getting this feeling that something is intensely -wrong- with its mind when it literally kills the surviving one of John’s foster parents out of petty annoyance for loudly drinking milk out of the carton…
      When it starts torturing Serah in the steel mill,
      Outright taunting her over knowing that it’s causing her agonising pain…
      You could actually make a legitimate case that the slowly developing sadism it starts showing actually suggests you actually -could- accurately call it evil-
      And when you compare the musical cues..
      The T-800 is a mentalic heartbeat,
      The literal heart of a machine…
      The T-1000 is a literally heartless monster,
      That kills, hurts,
      As much as because it -wants- to as because it has to…
      As Cameron said about almost literally every other T-Series,
      “We’re not programmed to be cruel”…

    • @dragonmagic9872
      @dragonmagic9872 Місяць тому

      That's not really true, unlike other models, the T-1000 is actually capable of self awareness and is able to disobey it's mission at any time, so because it chooses to follow the order and chase John in an intimidating manner and is even shown to be sadistic, yeah, I'd say the T-1000 is probably evil.

    First 2 films, but especially this one was mindblowing. The concept of a cybernetic infiltrator from a rogue AI that humans created going back in time to kill the leader of a future resistance was crazy enough. But then this film came out with TWO terminators, one reprogrammed to be "good", and the other this super advanced liquid metal freak that makes the original terminator seem so obsolete. And then pit them against each other while still being able to retain some of that horror from the first film! You felt insecure for the protagonists even with the antagonist from the original film now protecting them! They just don't make movies this cool anymore.

    a detail and quality that all other terminator movies after this one had forgotten, the attention to detail in the soundtrack. I remember watching terminator 3 for the first time and the soundtrack just sounded wrong, totally didn't "get" what makes terminator great and as such made it feel a lot less like a terminator film.
    Each Terminator has a theme, each moment (especially in terminator 1) has a specific sound to it, there are sounds where the terminator is about to kill, there are sounds where he is chasing you, the theme of the future war etc...
    and you know its that terminators theme in t2 because of the music, you know when things are going to go badass when the terminator metal drums start hittin, and then when things go bad when this t1000 theme starts and really drives the story, and helps make the audience understand the differences between the two terminators. In the mental hospital it is very effective.
    The part in the steel mill when sarah is shooting the t1000 and just runs out of ammo and you think he may fall or that is that but then that t1000 theme begins and you know just through that that he isnt down for the count yet (see pic in this video!) but when t800 comes back then it is more of a cool moment, because of that t1000 music in the background which reaffirms this presence there as if the t1000 has the upper hand, but then the music stops and he is finished, its more of a "phew" moment. Imagine the t800 theme playing all of the way through when he is getting shot right to when the t800 appears, it will lack that element of tension and surprise. so the soundtrack is spot on using the themes in such a way.
    If this movie was made today it would probably have a generic soundtrack, copying hans zimmer style, not very memorable, no theme to each character or whatever, like in all other terminator movies after, especially genesys, no t1000 theme or anything. this t1000 theme even though it is just this drone sound on repeat, it is similar to jaws where its just a few low notes played to bring on that sense of terror but if the jaws theme played at all the wrong moments it wouldnt have that same effect.
    so what i am saying is, because the t1000 theme was used in such a way, it is memorable now taking you back to those moments of a mysterious and dangerous machine on the hunt. awesome

    I Love this!! Such a spooky theme for such an awesome villain, can you imagine standing at the end of a dark hallway playing this theme and just glaring at the other side, what a way to give someone nightmares lol. They NEED to play this during the T-1000's outro in MK1.

    I think what made the T-1000 so creepy was just how unbelievably friendly he looks. Polite, soft spoken, handsome, the way the movie starts off makes him look like the good guy. And then by midway point you realize you're dealing with a worse monster than even the T-800. Skynet itself was terrified of this thing, because even it knew with how scarily intelligent it was there was a good possibility the t-1000 would turn on its Creator just like Skynet did.
