"Regain control of the cottage!"
Oh my god. I died...
Xenthera whens the funeral fuckface
nutsackmania Typical american tomfoolery.
Go back to your cheese.
amanoncrack Aha, you have taken my bait good sir! Sit down, and feel terrible about yourself for doing so.
+This Guy never have I seen so many pixels.
"We'll try it my way first...and then we'll finish it." 😂😂😂
Lol
Oh, you watched the video too?
PitchTrails Me too
Customer walks in: I'd like you to make me a painting
Maria: Okay I've made you this sculpture
Customer walks in: I'd like a porterhouse and chips
Maria's restaurant cousin: Okay here's your kale and quinoa
I'm a concept artist and I'd respond in a similar manner if someone would ask me to make something that looks like shit, because I don't want my name on literal shit.
Also this is at least partially scripted, it's obvious that the whole point is that Jeremy is taking the shit out of her by asking her to design something yet he's the one actually doing the designing, it's hilarious, but it's still a TV show.
Chaplain James Thicc you’re a shitty artist I bet.
@Pat Terson if this was made today...
JC: No....i want it like this. My way
Maria: He is a racist, sexist pig reeeeh reeeeehh
JC: I could just go for punching a producer right about now
Chaplain James Thicc is right
"Quaint my ride." That line in itself is so funny.
I vote for the part with James and Hammond test-driving that masterpiece as one of the funniest goddamn moments in Top Gear history.
"REGAIN CONTROL OF THE COTTAGE"
One of the best lines lol
Damn...9 year old comment
Good times💫
4:34 "I can imagine his parents having a lot of trouble with him as a child and again today because he hasn't grown much has he." That designer was undoubtedly a bit difficult to get along with, but that there is probably the best summary of Clarkson we've ever heard.
Okay but can we blame her for being difficult lmao. He put a wood burning stove in a car
@@ekhowo1475 yeah though😂
His first mistake was asking the French for help.
His first mistake was having an idea.
AT least he hired good people. :)
No. His first mistake was opening his mouth.
The french are great.
They can't be trusted.
I love how she is supposed to design what HE wants, but designes what SHE wants and then gets angry...
+Der Fliegende Mocca WOMEN LOGIC BRO
+Der Fliegende Mocca lol me and my family worked with a interior disigner a few years back and thats the exact same way she acted.
+Der Fliegende Mocca Women.
Sad thing is these three men barley have any style but still have more then her xD
+Der Fliegende Mocca
That whole aspect of it was made up, just for entertainment value.
"He has no idea about design". He's your customer. He asks you for a style. You come up with something different. She didn't do her job properly.
I agree, it's not design, well, you are not doing your job. I would have fired her on the spot.
Exactly! She was supposed to make a cottage in a car, not make whatever she jolly well pleased.
+Remy Lebeau Good thing there are some proper polish people :D
+Picobyte Indeed! :)
I can see not wanting to use real stone flags etc but a dive bar instead of a cottage? I can see some pub from some hillside in Somerset, but still
"Have you done a car before?"
"No."
"No?"
"No, but I've done small bathrooms"
"Well think of it like that, but without a bath." - Jeremy Clarkson.
We'll try my way first... and then we'll finish it
I met the builders "Are you Polls?" LOL
To all the people complaining about the designer, keep in mind that it's a tv show, and it's Top Gear x)
and???
Himme llen I doubt they told the designer to be bitchy for entertainment
You do realize that this show is scripted right? So yes, they probably did tell her to play up her irritation at least.
this is exactly way top gear was successful. its just 3 genuine car guys having fun with cars
2:59 "It doesnt work, your scheme doesnt work" "NO! This is why you gave in, in the war, oh its to difficult" Fantastic response Jeremy! Well said!!
2:59
"When you hear this just hear Agincourt, that's all you need to hear." Brilliant.
"We'll have to try my idea first and then finish" I'm using this at work on Monday.
"I have an idea, okay: We'll try it my way first..... and then we're finished"
THIS!
I know she's hamming it up for the camera, but I absolutely loathe artists who decry anyone else's vision as "not art" if it fails to conform with their own vision. How is her post modern, ultra swank Vodka bar vision any more artistic than his? Because hers is cool and hip and modern and his is quaint and stately? Bet she spent a good deal of her education studying the very art that inspired his vision, only to get a superiority complex once she was successful enough to have her own design firm and a few glowing reviews in trade magazines only herself and her other post modern "artists" read.
But it is "the future!"
Hah, I share your views 100%. Modern society spits at the past.
How are her designs in any way post - modern?
wkvalader History s bunk.
RandomTXDude210 Dude, it's an act, to play with Clarkson's "old, hopeless geezer-style", as well as the classic "practical brit vs. sophisticated french-thing"
RandomTXDude210 Exactly! all designers are like that. Once we had a designer( a very costly one), he was telling us (Bunch of engineers) how to make it!! lol at the end I told him to sod off (politely). Bloody designers, they are all attitude, and 99% only pose. They know absolutely nothing about anything. Just pose and pose and pose... They make me sick, and her attitude( the one in this show) is giving me diarrhea!
If ever there was an advertisement for seatbelts...
Typical artist. "I just want to create what I think is cool. I don't really care for your tastes, I know better."
Dan Rand That doesn't hold up under scrutiny.
What job can you show up to work and disregard your boss (whoever signs the payment slips) and just do things however you deem good?
The problem is not that there are good artists doing work that they don't think is all that good, who cares? The problem is that artists think they are entitled to their personal design desires when dealing with other people's money on other jobs they were hired to do.
If you are doing it for free, go nuts, you get what you pay for. But if someone paid for you to do it for them, and you agreed, then you are on the line to respect the arrangement and adopt a professional attitude, leaving your personal feelings behind as you work with your patron.
That is the exact attitude that I was explaining. No other job do people express that kind of attitude and expect to get away with it.
Dan Rand Touche. I respect your reasoning and conclusion.
wkvalader Yeah pretty much.. They needed to realize and recognize what the customer (that is Clarkson) wanted. If the solution could be improved in ways that the customer knew nothing about I can see why they would push on with their own assessment. But this is little more than a simple matter of realizing Clarksons bizarre vision, and not for her to jerk off with her own ideas. Not some financial solution that needed tweaking, but simply a realization of an already absurd idea. I want something crazy, so design crazy.
I could understand, however, how they might get embarassed/exasperated about having been the consultor/designer for a design they considered absolutely rubbish. Fair enough attitude. But just move on already instead of going in circles about it..
wkvalader Couldn't agree more. They should bear in mind that their customer is always right in terms of opinion. The customers want what they want. They pay for shit, they get shit. The only time where they should step in is when customers ask for ideas.
Dan Rand
I see. Respect, bruh. Respect.
"Your design is not going to work in this. I mean hello. Lets be real." I feel the designer's pain 😂
“You are a roast beef, with all due respect “ -designer lady 😂
Sad part is the 0-60 was faster on this than it was on my first car.
My first cars 0-60 was respectable, but my 2nd car (15 yr old, 1.0ltr fiesta, shitty ... as ALL fiestas are!!!) You didn't time the 0-60 with a watch, you used a calendar!!!
It isn’t that bad.
'Ask them, they're Polish, they know' hahahahahahah best bit
I agree with Jeremy 100%; his home is quaint and humble, and it makes me feel good. I would go his direction, and just make it a little lighter and secured, and then be on my way.
I love Jeremy's clever remarks, " Ask them, they're Polish, they know!"
4:14
The face a man makes when their name is said in a sexy French manner. Jeremy was swooned!
He's trying his best to restrain himself.
Jeremy knows exactly what he's doing. And he does it exceedingly well.
"We'll try it my way first... and then we'll finish" God, I love Clarkson.
PLEASE don't take this seriously! It's obvious that Mary was asked to act that way to make this controversy look funny, and it does
The way he says " I want, I want" and the motion he does is just too much 😂😂
“This is why you gave in in the war, ‘oh it’s too difficult.’ “
This is the car that everyone in Essex aspires to.
I genuinely cannot stop watching the test drive. It's absolutely hilarious
ask him he's polish.. im polish and it makes my laugh lol :D
...
Insurer: Have you done any modifications to your vehicle?
Jeremy: It’s complicated
Still faster than a nissan micra!
still faster than a honda civic!
+PoisonedFood which pixel is the clarkson?
PoisonedFood hahahha
+Kai kon Nissan Micra is the Twilight (the movie) of cars.
Or a Citroen 2cv
"The chimney's fallen off!"
"OH NO!"
"Keep going."
"I am."
They... almost cared.
That guys face at 3:58.. priceless.
240p we meet again
WAIT its 144p
i've herd myths about 144p from my grandparents but i never tought it was real...
+Nikke 2800 its real........... all of it.
+keyproductions100 the force is strong with this one
+Michael Flatman It actually shows how a good production video is much more important than resolution. If i recorded something at 144p, it couldn't even look like a potato
Batuhan Genç it does look good considering it only has 144 vertical lines though
4:12 scher eh' me , lol at that face
Best part of the video, ha
edenhawk He drops Agincourt a few seconds later. Priceless.
Loved it how Jeremy showed this "artist" her place
Yeah, the power of script writing.
Clarkson is the BEST ! Proof that German engineering can not mix with British classic. Why not try Heidi's grandpa house theme instead. Hilarious !
They should've got the stig to dive that.
This is why I miss top gear so bad! 😭
"When you hear this, just hear Agincourt." The best British vs. French joke I've heard yet.
144p...oh god
"Oh No!"
"What?"
"The Chimney's Fallen Off!"
That's something I'd never thought I'd hear in reference to a car XD
4:12 That reaction!
Then he drops Agincourt! I almost died laughing.
The English and the french are stuck arguing and the poles are doing all the hard work
am I the only person who found their bickering the funniest part?
tolmat4411 definetly not. It's the whole reason most people watched the show!
i am in tears. that was easily one of the funniest things i have seen.
1:13, throwing a tantrum and rocking back and forth. I want wing back chairs I want wing back chairs. I'm actually dying
did she just call him Roast Beef?
You heard correctly. In case you were wondering why, it's the derisive French term for Brits because they are believed to eat so much of it. In French:"les rosbifs." The Brits' equivalent is "frog eaters."
It’s a nickname that the French call the English. But they call the French frogs legs so I guess they’re both even on that front.
This is one of my favorite bits they ever did
She's obviously never seen Top Gear before if she expected
1. Clarkson to listen.
2. Clarkson to have a sensible, stylish idea.
3. Clarkson to be reasonable.
"He has absolutely no sense of design." He has. But she hasn't got any sense of humour.
Well.... if it was James, "They're French"
She actually does have a sense of humor
It's called a scripted sense of humor. The point is to for them to bicker on the design and for Jeremy to come out on top.
The lap is one of the funniest things ever 😂
What sort of architect denies request from her clients?
+INUMIMI28
Many, Frank Lloyd Wright for one.
SpiritBear12 Are you willing to put Frank Lloyd Wright alongside with that woman?
INUMIMI28
Yes, he didn't give a damn what his clients wanted, he built what HE wanted to build with their money.
That's the joke
+INUMIMI28 A French designer.
I love how the polishs laugh when he made fun of how the French surrendered. 3:10
16th century interior design on a 20th century luxury Mercedes Benz. Top Gear Pimp My Ride .
"I have an idea. We'll try it my way first, and then we'll finish."
It's like Kitchen Nightmares, but with cars. Praise Clarkson!
fix the seats in place(allowing for seatbelts and some degree of protection, and like reposition one of the wingback chair's arms to fit on the door, keep the cement at a minimum possibly make a custom padded rear seat that takes advantage of the corner, and like has a bookshelf in the back (possibly removing the rear left window) have a metal grate or something over the bookshelf, either hinged or sliding as to keep the books from falling out.
Though I would have gone for a hardwood floor with a rug (held in place by neodymium magnets or velcro or whatever)...
I'd also go with a car a bit wider/longer... think a station wagon or a minivan or something.. seatbelts are the only major issue I can see.
oh yes as a last thing... I'd unify the exhaust... that is, I'd have the chimney be the exhaust.. In a super-ideal environment, I'd have the car diesel steam-powered, and the fireplace be the boiler.
I agree that they really should have used a bigger car
@@scottsherman7069 name a bigger car
@@raycroal:... 1971 mk3 Lincoln Continental.
@@michaelrawson6261 all bonnet and boot mate
@@raycroal The OP has already said minivans/people carriers etc. This old S-class a big car, but it certainly isn't the biggest on the road.
I didn't even know that resolution could go lower that 240. The more you know.
+Carl Johnson Ever since 2013 they've served up the rtsp streams on the desktop site. 144p is the same resolution used on the UA-cam site for featurephones.
+Paianni *cough* sarcasm *cough*
“In fact I have an idea. We’ll try my way first… and then we”ll finish it” 😂
"we'll try it my way first.... And then finish."
"We'll try it my way first... and then we're finished."
God, I laughed!
Booker T. and the MGs!
Clarkson is such a legend. "We'll try it my way first... and then we'll finish" loll.
This is the British version of "PIMP MY RIDE."
I feel like that's the joke Jeremy was trying to make when he said "Quaint My Ride"
Just a tiny suspicion.
Very minute.
"we'll try it my way first and then we'll finish" LMFAOOOOOOOO using that
What's wrong with chips and vinegar
Maybe needed French Dressing for her to like it!
the chimney right above the gas tank.. its why i love top gear.
She might be a designer but she isn't listening to the client!!!!!!
Really annoys me. When I studied design, that's the first rule. Listen to the Client or you'll get sacked.
She can say what she wants about hit design, but Clarkson is having way more fun! Plus I ultimately find his design ideas more daring than the standard 'designy' stuff she came up with :P
One of the funniest Top Gears ever
Jeremy: "What do you mean eurghh whats the matter with chips and vinegar on?
French Lady: This is vile that is revolting.
ming yee Wong As a Belgian, I agree with her :p Fries and vinegar is just ugh. It makes them extremely soggy.
redavatar Even better with Ali-oli, check it out
It's only meant to be a light sprinkle for taste, you're not meant to bathe them in vinegar.
The brake lights don't work, which is an MOT failure. The wire is under the concrete so you can't fix it without restripping the floor, so does that effectively make the car a write-off?
"Tell you what. We'll try it my way first......and then we'll finish."
Sounds fair to me.
I am not liking Jeremy's taste here, but she is in no position to mock Jeremy either. She is completely disregarding the style Jeremy is looking for, which for an architecht is quite bad to do. Sure, Jeremy's ideas are bonkers as usual and does not work. But she should come up with something that goes into the direction of what Jeremy wants whilst still making it practical. But no. She goes futuristic green peace modern with everything in he own style (and frankly it looks hideous as well imho).
I would not hire her for anything if that is the kind of customer service she provides. And just to be clear and to make sure this is not about fanboyinsm or gender: I would definetely not hire Jeremy either. 0.o
Haha yes, some designers do. I've seen it happen.
Well.....she is French....so.....
you absolute donut 😆😆😆
I like a bar inside my car
kelly want some young meat?
They went for THE SMALLEST ENGINE IN THE RANGE. This same car comes with like a 6.5 litre V12. Bet that would have gone an alright speed. If hammond was still anywhere near the accelerator after his chair slid back.
Try 72p next time. Upload it with a flashlight
Yeah, and at 10fps. Its more cinematic!
and the aspect ratio of 1.333
Welcome to Ann Hathaway's cottage! I cracked up! 😭
what's wrong with chips with salt and vinegar in them
Everything
not everything
the chips are ok
Josh Hodgkins
I believe they were refrencing French Fries with Malt Vinegar instead of Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips, but both are good either way.
... your point being?
I actually tried potato chips with salt and vinegar for the first time a couple of months ago, and couldn't get used to the taste. I was going to write it off as a weird British Isles thing, then I remembered that I used to love onion and garlic potato chips as a kid, which would probably be as revolting to them as salt and vinegar was to me. Kids will eat almost anything.
The way she said "Jeremy" was delightful
As annoying as she was I don't even get the point of bringing her in if you know exactly what you want from the get go.
+wondercast Please stop watching Top Gear. It's just confusing you.
That's the joke
yea
The designer needs to worry less about her visions and more about what her customer wants. Also, the test drive was hilarious!!!
These "artsy" type women are unbearable. Clearly it's meant to be funny, not a piece of modern art.
+theo retical its all a joke....
+theo retical
she's deliberately acting as a stereotypical, hipster as a joke.
+theo retinal She's french... This is about the best you'll get out of them...
+theo retical if she had followed, then it wouldn't be funny at all.
ya
He may not know design, but he knows what he wants.
"REGAIN CONTROL OF THE COTTAGE"
I love the idea of being stuck in cold & rainy traffic in a wingback chair by the fire!
7:13 its James May running on Television.
A good designer makes her/his customer happy. She is a stylist who wants it her way.
Thats so brilliant :D If only the decorations and chairs were secure, plus seat belts so it would be legal to drive ild totally want to have this :3
That 'cocktail bar' looks like a laboratory, probably about as relaxing as being at the dentists.
It's crazy how unprofessional this woman is.
I know right
It's scripted
I'm Canadian and think chips or fries with vinegar makes a great lunch. Better with a burger or hotdog but one can't always get what one wants.
I feel so bad for the designer. She’s just trying to salvage the look of the car as best she can and Jeremy is like; “You know what? let’s remove the fuel tank so we can put in a cast iron stove”
