Walk through tour of my custom cabinet shop!

- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- This video shows an in depth look at all of the machines I use to build my custom cabinets in my cabinet shop. Machines such as table saws, jointer, planer, drum sander, miter saw, castle pocket cutter, multi spindle boring machine, edge sander, band saw, drill press, router tables and the dust collection system. The work flow is explained from the moment materials enter the door to the finishing room they end up in for paint or staining. I cover the different work benches and table setups I utilize in the cabinet building process. If you have any questions or comments please let me know or what the next video you'd like to see. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!
Mr. Weber, your level of organization and planning is unrivaled for a UA-cam woodworker or cabinet maker! Please make many, many videos before you realize that you are way too good for UA-cam? I’m confident you have a lot of great information and techniques to share.
Thanks a lot I appreciate you! It has been hard to make another video lately as I have a job as a cabinetmaker and remodeler. And not a full time you tuber 😁
Would love to see you build a basic cabinet all they way through finishing. Used to seeing a lit of youtubers, not so much professional
I definitely have plans to do just that Chris

Great video, brother. This was helpful for me as I’m just starting to make the transition from hobbyist to a professional cabinet maker myself. I think it’d be really good if you made an instructional video on how you do your arched panel doors.
@@thomasheisler1083 I appreciate it and best of luck on the transition! I doubt I do a video on that. It’s never requested by clients it’s rare I need them. But there’s always a chance in the future just not on the top of the list trying to get started here making any videos
No reason this channel shouldn’t blow up. It’s very clear how much you care about the craft. Can’t wait to watch more.
Thanks for the suggestion, Wittworks!

I really enjoyed this. It’s always great to watch people who are working in the trade. I do like many of the diy and semi-pro channels, but it’s always fun to watch a professional channel. I’ve been in a woodworking trade for fifty years. The changes in, and availability of excellent tools has exploded in the last fifteen years. I hope you have the time to keep it up, and I look forward to watching more!
Thank you for the compliment and I hope I can find the time to keep it up as well. I can tell it’s going to be a chore on the editing end
Beautiful shop, incredible amount of thought and time put into your tools and layout.
Much appreciated thank you

Awesome video and a great shop. I did also like the irony off the start when you said there wouldn't be any fancy text or sound effects and then immediately cut to fancy text with sound effects. Joking aside well done I hope you keep making videos!

I am a finish carpenter that builds smaller cabinet jobs like builtins , vanities, or jobs larger shops like yours makes no sense to build! Besides trimming houses or setting new doors for customers ect.,. ( I am a contractor). So I am always looking for pro carpenters/ cabinet makers to pick up tips ect.,. I am always looking on great tips for building doors and drawers ? I do lock-miters , stop dados , but looking forward to your technique? ( now I understand if you order out?)
I built my doors since day one. About three years ago I started ordering them to keep up with the jobs that started getting larger as I’m just one guy in my shop. I do make my drawers though. I plan on doing a video on both

Love the shop. So nice and white! Mine is very 1950’s dark garage vibe. 😂
My previous shop was pretty dark and when I built this one I knew I wanted surgical room brightness

With a simple cabinet build
Great first video! I look forward to more. A couple of ideas for videos. I'd like to understand your paint process and why you use airless instead of HPLV. Also how do you handle stains if you're doing that. Seeing your face frame process would be great as well. I saw another comment mention a build all the way through, and I agree that would be good. It would likely prompt more questions that could make for good content.
Looking like per the poll I asked a base cabinet build from start to finish for shop or garage storage will be up next. Thank you for your feedback!
Nice! Appreciate seeing how the pros do it. Very clean shop. I didn’t see a shaper or big router in your tour. Just the small one. Is that all you use to shape panels, stiles and rails?
@@ChristopherGlover-s8t thank you sir. No shaper you are correct, just the two 3hp router tables. I made all my doors for years and recently have made the switch to a door company. Unless it’s just a small job and need a quick turnaround in the shop
Wow, nice shop and well edited. You have many directions to present. Watch others content and find the rarely displayed in cabinet making. I see a lot of content on actual build but I would love to see from client concepts and ideas to finished product. If you’re working with architect/designer and provided drawings it would be nice to see how you execute on that route. I’m sure you work with builders and homeowners that might rely upon your design/build experience. These are two very different ways to build. Nice vid!

Hey Matt well done
Please tell me the brand of that blue plywood rack Exactly what I’m looking for. I assume you’re happy with it? Ty in advance
@@kevindunne9367 thank you Kevin. The racking is out of an old warehouse. The legs were originally green and the arms were orange. Probably could find it on marketplace for sale easily.
@@crossgrain327 I noticed a name in it but can’t make it out. I haven’t seen any like that. They seem perfect for my plywood storage. My shop is very very similar to yours and it seems we do the same kind of work. I think you have a bright future with the UA-cam thing. I’m happy for you.

Hey!
Very nice shop love the assembly table gonna use that for sure but im interested if you ever do chipboard or mdf and edge any of that stuff and if so whats your system for doing so?
Thanks a lot let me know how you like it. I do not use chipboard, melamine or mdf on cabinets. The very little edge banding I do is on plywood adjustable shelves
@crossgrain327 ah OK and when your doing that do you glue a solid strip in front or use a role of edging?
@@Eyeofthestorm-zw1fe if it’s a stained shelf or painted to match the interior of said cabinet it’s a solid hardwood shelf. If it’s a pre finished maple ply to match the interior of the cabinet it’ll be an edging off a roll to match.
What is your method of applying that do you use a heat gun and trim it by hand or use a jig?
@@Eyeofthestorm-zw1fe fastcap makes a great self adhesive banding or simply using an iron for the glue back banding. I’m not doing a ton of that type of work as everything I build is frame frame cabinets
What pallet racking is that I want to do the same for my lumber?
@@Mostviews111 it was green legs and orange support arms that I painted. Same general stuff in most warehouses. I cut a 16’ leg in half
Hey Matt. Where did you get your moto tabl? I can’t find them anywhere. Also is the hydronic bladder an add on? Thanks P
The MotoLift table is made by No Mar Tire Changer. Look that business up, here in St. Louis
Thanks Matt. I’ll check them out. Hooked On Wood just did his tour. He’s a FELDER lifting table, his channel has some nice solutions.
@@PeterConnor the MotoLift table has a great price point
Aloha, which model moto lift do you have.
@@govenr the only model they offer just without the ramp 🤙
There are lots of videos on UA-cam that show basic cabinet construction and styles, but those are becoming boring. I would love to see the intricacies and variation of full build outs from a professional. “A day in the life of a cabinet maker” would be awesome vs, the many who want to quit their job to make random videos.
Certainly not quitting my job, I love it. I’ll do my best here since I’m completely new to this platform. Definitely going to show it all
What is the sqaure footage of the space?
@@joshboone7662 1900 feet
Why put plywood on high shelves?
The plywood I use 95% of the time are on shelves from ankle to chest height. What you see above that is random rarely used sheet goods
You seem to like Grizzly stationary machines. Not a fan.
I do. I haven’t had any issues other than belt replacements. What are you not a fan of?
