The amount of varied non-Japanese cars in GT2 are criminally underrated. It’s just a shame that you can’t easily start out with any of them, and that 99.9% of the prize cars are just tuned Japanese variants…
I did this as a determined 4 year old kid. Less fun than drowning, but I did get out of that softlock. I was actually non-verbal at that point, so clearly I had priority issues.
Funny fact, the Accord type R you win at rome in the luxury car race is actually British, it used the CH1 Europe only platform and was made in the UK and only sold in Europe, the JDM version used the CL1 chassis and was badged as a Euro R first seen in GT3, I thought that was funny since the Accord euro for that platform was JDM only lol.
The GT2 A-Spec Mod makes doing a non-Japanese cars only run easier, the Dodge Neon ACR had it's price dropped to 9000 cr. and they added a 1st gen Renault Twingo for even less.
@@squiddythekid3976There's also a few changes and additions to the campaign. IIRC the national events were given an overhaul, and at least two completely new events have been added (Like The Wind and a Renault manufacturer race, as of the current version).
@@squiddythekid3976 you honestly should. Also, you could use _actual_ GT300 and GT500 cars for each respective championship (GT300 Porsche, GT500 Diablo and McLaren F1) if you were to redo this challenge on that mod.
I really enjoy GT challenge runs, this was one of the best I have watched. Hopefully you have time to do another, GT2 and GT4 are the best, I forgot how many odd variations of cars like the Miata Spec C were in GT2!
I know someone else already mentioned this being easier on GT2 A Spec, GT2 Plus is also worth a look too. There's not nearly as many options as A Spec, but there is some restored cut content which includes (but isn't limited to) the VW Polo, an Audi A4 Avant, a few different rebadged 911s, a C55 AMG, the CLK DTM, and an E36 323i that can be tuned to 450hp. Half of those are prize cars in the GT League nationals too. There's also all the arcade only rally cars which are obtainable as prizes from the rally races, notably for this challenge, the Megane Maxi F2 Kit Car, the Saxo F2 Kit Car, the 306 Maxi, and the Delta WRC. All come partially tuned and with all tyres, they just need the suspension and gearbox upgrades. The 60FPS cheat also breaks the rally AI so you could, if you really wanted to, beat the Cultus and the Escudo in a bone stock Fiat 500.
The Renault Espace F1 is, literally, the *one* car I’m hoping to see in a current GT. (Yes, there’s a LONG list of others, but the Espace F1 was always a personal favorite.) Fun video; looking to start my GT grind from the ground up again someday… Cheers! Long live Gran Turismo. \m/, 😊 ,\m/
26:49 - Strictly speaking, you _could_ use that using your own ruleset. It was Made in the UK and it is a Euro spec version (unlike the ironically named "Euro R"). So by using Acura, this is also technically valid.
the last 5 or so playthroughs ive done is fully avoiding using the generic japanese cars, and other limitations. it makes the game much more interesting. not just buying a skyline and winning every race.
The vector w8 was much more driveable than the speed12, at least i could beat the world championship with it. It woud be nice to use a real touring car at touring car races, there are a lot of european cars with cool and racing mods based mostly on real BTCC cars
You need a really good tune for the Speed 12 to get the most out of it. Having that much power and being rear wheel drive is really its big flaw but it is one of the fastest cars in the game (of the cars I've used, which is many outside the license test prize cars, only the Escudo beats it out on the now personally re-christened Red Rock Valley Time Attack money farm).
Banger vid! Watched it while assembling an aluminum profile sim racing cockpit, still putting it together but you got a sub. Gonna check out more of your vids next. :}
Honestly the Mercury cougar XR4 would’ve been one of the best first cars. It accelerates quite good and is easy to control if you coast through corners with no acceleration. That was the way I did it, atleast
Did the same challenge a while ago on my second playthrough, i just cheated the licences as i didn't want to replay them, the hardest events imo were the gt300 which i beat using a race spec bmw 328 and a loooot of patience and the gt world championship in which i used the clk dtm that came with the save file for the licences (although i could have used the cerbera but i didn't like the car). If it wasn't for a couple of events where i used the shelby mustang and the Plymouth superbird i could classify my run as european only. Very good run btw! Glad to see someone enjoy the good old era of GT
Red Rock Valley is so underrated. It, and Apricot Hill, along with Midfield are probably my top3 all time GT tracks. No BS...That Dodge Concept Car LM Edition is one of the best cars in the game. That thing fllliiesss, and turns. It, the DelSol LM, and the Elise LM are my Top 3. That Opel Calibra LM is a hoot as well. Redline is like 12k lol
Not that it matters for this challenge, but you _can_ beat the Escudo with the Cultus since the Cultus is faster off the line. You can also beat the GT40 in Historic Car Cup Race 2 with a tuned Lotus Elise-preferably the Sport 190.
@@squiddythekid3976 great content nonetheless! Keep up the videos. This inspired me to want to play GT2 for the first time myself. I had every one from 3 to 7.
So much effort put into making an enjoyable video. But the driving? That's god awful. Next challenge: Make a run, where you have to take a stop and go penalty every time you hit the grass. And you have to skip every race, in which you hit the walls.
you should try only using American made cars.. and yes using Acura is cheating for sure. no matter what you say its a Japanese car haha just because they make them here doesnt mean shit. That's like saying Volkswagen Beatles are Brazilian because they are made in brazil
Next: Can you beat GT2 if every track is Apricot Hill?
NO.
No
My favourite track!

i love cars like this. like the honda pilot/odyssey/passport/ridgeline and acura MDX are all fully designed and produced in the US, along with the NSX
The beauty of this game is how the huge car roster opens the game up to a lot of experimentation.
Fun fact: you can tune the GT40 road car to approx. 650 hp (NA tune stage 3). Shit will do 250mph on Test Course and dominate on track.
My favorite low cost car for this game was the Mercury Cougar XR-7, plenty powerful in stock form, and upgradable for a good amount of races
The GT2 A-Spec Mod makes doing a non-Japanese cars only run easier, the Dodge Neon ACR had it's price dropped to 9000 cr. and they added a 1st gen Renault Twingo for even less.
hmm, might have to look into that mod.
my concern is that it makes a game that's already easy even easier

Heya, Komputer here.
I'm the director of the mod in question. I would love to see someone beat A-Spec with the various new cars added.
I am interested if you are interested in doing a video on A-Spec?

32:40 so can we just acknowledge that the Fiat 500R was being rubber banded so hard that on the minimap its still with the rest of the pack

It was a bonkers car. A van with a formula 1 power train.
Have you ever seen a Minivan fly, well...yes thanks to nitro circus and their van prixs
This really shows how overpowered the Ford GT40 is in this game.
I hear you using the speed racer video game for background music. Thought you could sneak it by me.

can it be done without repeating won races and without touching grass (cutting the track and wall sliding)
I know song list is at the end but what song plays at 11:59 ? sounds so good
"Conditioned Reflex" from Sega Rally

Another misspelling is in the Lancia Delta: it's "Evoluzione", not "Evolutione" (they messed it up because "tio" is pronounced as "z" in English).

for the MR racing, just buy a clio V6 with all level 1 tuning and racing soft tire, easy to beat GT40 with

Questionable taste from my perspective: PT Spyder and Venturi Bi-Turbo both drive like a charme.
The cheese wagon!
It's still disappointing that even to this day the US doesn't get much representation in the game. GT7 still doesn't have many options.
ACURA IS JAPANESE CAR !!!
Next up: can you finish gt2 with yellow cars only
Esa cámara trasera estática es lo peor que pudieron inventar en gt, lamentablemente desde el gt4 quedo así, una mierda
now, call me crazy, but didnt kure r33 have like 1100hp??
No, that was the HKS R33
