"Lifetime membership" is interesting. Coming from the tool world "Lifetime Warrenty" is a something that will make a sale. I am wondering if its a sale maker with digital products and communities. Also I love the way Jay made a promo code for his course 🤣
Great question, I hope Jay shares his thoughts on this, and any data/sources to back up this idea. I WANT to believe... and frankly this fits with my values, so I might just follow this path anyway... Thinking about it: my tendency is to find less value in a community over time, partly due to climbing the learning curve and partly due to the tendency of commmunities to stagnate as the host's energy or passion for the project wanes... so in reality it's important I think, from a values perspective, to state how long a project is likely to continue... "lifetime" might otherwise mislead people.
Please watch the insider knowledge jargon, I appreciate this might be a subtle sales tactic but it's a ever-so-slight turn-off from an otherwise brilliant conversation and vibe. At least offer some breadcrumbs... eg "Daniel's small bets" I'm assuming might be referring to something from Daniel Priestley, but would be nice to just know? Really enjoyable episode this one, and relevant I'm sure to so many of us. I would have liked to hear more about Jonny's thoughts on competition: Wim Hof has been a pioneer in nervous system work and research, and so it seems odd not to acknowledge him, and there is wider competition from traditional practices like Qi Gong, Tai Chi, martial arts, mindfulness traditions... so I would have been interested to hear his thoughts on this, and how he thinks about the differentiation/targetting of his audience. Competition and differentiation is a big topic for me. But I took away a lot of free insight, so thank you both! It's made me contemplate cohorts as a product format that would suit my own focus area and personal style. The whole discussion around social proof (ie social media and podcasts) was super interesting, and the story of how this project got started, and the questions Jonny has over his new website. It would be interesting to revisit Jonny's story in a few more cohorts' time...
@@jay thanks for the breadcrumb! BTW just followed you on Bluesky, having joined 3 days ago - do you not post new videos on SM channels as a matter of course? Just curious...
Loved this conversation so much @Jay thanks for having me on 🙏
Thanks so much for sharing your story!
"Practicum versus practical" experience. It's the 10,000 hours that matters.
Love that framing!
3 mins in and i love this story
Thanks for watching!

Good note! We try to call out unknown things on screen but we missed this one. he was referring to Daniel Vassallo’s Small Bets community
