Definitely looking at getting back into 7D. Something that's always been on my mind, but it's probably too specific and annoying, is that how possible is it to get a map with just 1 of every POI? I'm the type of person that plays Ubisoft games and I like 100%ing the map and exploring everything. The first time I played 7D a few years back I was surprised and really happy with the way POIs play if you go through them as intended. I loved them, reminded me of Skyrim and Fallout dungeons. I'd love to beat every POI in a single run.
Well I have the Phys1cs Playground map that is everything lined up. I made in A20 a map with each POI, almost each one. And I think I might be able to make a mod that would do that...hmmm

This is of course all about A21 not v1. Whatever prefabs you have ready to use when making a map it will use them. There is no requirement to use vanilla. Not sure what you mean by zoning? Make massive cities with any prefabs you have!
Yes all is good. Stuff happened and now I am back. Still can't code like the true RFS god. Yet I can mess with the xml. Working on a full mod. Worked out some Unity too :)

Ha, not sure I'd go that far but I do like a dabble; really need to get some time to get back into things as well, Real Life (tm) does like to get in the way doesn't it! Will keep an eye out for the full mod, can you tell us more? Any sneak preview videos planned?
Mod is on pause waiting for 1.0 and the unit upgrade. Looking for a good year of work to do it properly. Based on three book Wool and the TV series The Silo. Escape a giant POI to a ruined city and then to freedom story line
Sounds exciting! A year of work, that's awesome and some level of commitment, I expect big things!! Will be interesting to see what the 1.0 drop means for modders. Lots of people holding their breath at the moment.
Yes holding breath is the only option. I hope 1.0 on the PC is still easily moddable. I moved some assets around to the newer version of unity and all worked fine. We will just have to wait and see what we get. I think only a year as the team are still learning the craft. If you are ever around the discord I can always show you what we have done so far.
Yes. Whatever you add to your POI folder will be part of the generation. I am planning to make a load as I keep getting nagged from people who use weird packs of prefabs. I think it was on NexusMods someone commented they added some extras successfully.
Yes still so much more testing to do. Would love to work out the numbers for seed generation to work. Even if that just made large ish cities and more interesting maps. We shall see with more testing.
Would it be possible to have a massive city on a 10k map but that city is so big that it has for biomes? Like the northside is wastland, eastside is desert etc etc
I made 10k maps with 100% city coverage with all the biomes. You can find them over on NexusMods. The moment I can do so with v1.0 I will. You can take any map you make and edit the biomes.png file for all the biome action you want. I made a video on that somewhere ua-cam.com/video/YyRE7aHaVic/v-deo.html
The map will work like any other map. You only install the mod when you generate a map. If you really want the server to generate a map rather than doing it yourself and uploading it then it will work as it is XML edits only. I would advise generate and upload method though.
Yeah. The mod makes them huge. Sorry are you confused? I am not talking about towns or countrytowns or old west map generation. This is all about the cities.

I always head straight for the cities. They are great places to start.

Since you can generate a massive city, could you also use a compo pack to add more diversity to POIS ? including the ones that add special traders .

Proper confused. Yeah you can clearly see I love massive city maps. I have made videos on then before and have some available over on NexusMods.

Massive cities is a a nice alternative game mode for sure. Makes those magazines a little easier to find and plenty of nasty zombies.

The map will work like any other map. You only install the mod when you generate a map. If you really want the server to generate a map rather than doing it yourself and uploading it then it will work as it is XML edits only. I would advise generate and upload method though.
