Thanks for this video. I just started my Buy Me A Cup of Coffee and got a few donations for my channel on Taiwan. Look forward to seeing more of your content.
@@SabrinaKaufmann Another video suggested that I remind my viewers that I have a Buy Me a Cup of Coffee account at the end of each video. After the first couple of days, I didn't get any more donations, so maybe putting in the reminder in each video will work. Any other advice on getting more consistent donations?
@@jasonleetaiwan Yes, reminding people that they can tip definitely helps raise awareness, because you often have people who either didn't get it, are new, or need some time to decide to donate. For consistent donations, it depends on your business model and what you can do: do you have an option to offer private or early content on your page? Would you like to offer specific gifts, or rather just get donations without offering anything? If it's more related to rewards to attract people, I'd suggest you this video that offers specific ideas: ua-cam.com/video/3rUAbIor7Fs/v-deo.html Otherwise, you might find the one or other interesting video about marketing your art in this playlist, depending on what you'd like to do: ua-cam.com/play/PL7ny-K9kG24hdLDaGKCekmcY4XAm41dU7.html Hope it helps and you'll find something useful to get more people on board 😊
@Sabrina Kaufmann - From Art to Business My content is mostly about elections and politics, so they are like public service announcements and not suitable to be monetized like a business. Having said that, it still takes up a lot of time and money, so I need to get some consistent income in. I don't want to offer any exclusive videos or gifts because everything I research should be free to access. I am not even comfortable with monthly membership because I am not guaranteed to always put out content on a consistent basis. I guess I will just put the reminder at the end of each video from now on and hope that works. I promoted the coffee link on my community page for YT, but that was only seen for a couple of days. Thanks for your reply and your tutorial videos.
Thanks for the great video. I've got Patreon for a few years now, but yeah, some of my viewers doesn't liked the idea of the monthly payment. So I searched for an alternative. And I think that Ko-Fi is the right choice after you explained everything so well. Greetings from Germany.
Oh thanks so much for your kind feedback! Yeah especially if your viewers already expressed that they didn't like the idea of monthly payments, it's a good choice to go with another alternative. For your info, it's not mentioned in the video as Ko-Fi just enabled this one or two months ago: monthly subscription tiers are now available, too. You can keep the classical one-time donations, and also add an option for monthly subscribers just the way Patreon works. Just saying, in case some of your followers do want to support you monthly, and you prefer to centralize everything in the same platform instead of having one Patreon + one Ko-Fi 😊
I was thinking about creating a Patreon acc but after watching this vid, I think it's better for me to create ko-fi instead. Thank you so much for your guidance!
this was extremely helpful! there's articles all over the internet, but it can be hard to gauge how genuine those reviews are. i write interactive fiction and i think i'll start with ko-fi until i can get an idea of how consistent i can be with rewards. thanks for this review and comparison! plus your look is adorable and your art is amazing!! i'm subscribed
Starting with Ko-Fi seems to be a great idea, indeed being consistent with rewards is something you'll see in the long term. Sometimes you may think it's kinda easy, but when you get caught up in it and also have other things to do... well, you might need to adjust sometimes 😊 But you'll definitely manage, and wishing you all the best in your work ♥ And thanks so much for your kind comment, so happy to have you on board! ♥ If you ever have some topics you'd have questions on, feel free to suggest them, if I can help I'll gladly do a video about it 😊

Great video. You explained the differences between Patreon and Ko-Fi so well! Now that a year has passed since you posted this video, I was wondering: 1. If you are able to make multiple tier memberships yet or does Ko-Fi still only limit free Ko-fi plans to one tier until the $6 upgrade? 2. Does Ko-fi charge 5% per membership payment or does Ko-fi charge 5% monthly for a creator's membership income (like Patreon does through their "Lite" plan)? Thank you so much for your help! Sidenote: I love your outfit! ❤
Hello an thanks so much! Yes it's one of my favourite dresses haha 😂💕 To answer your questions: 1. Yes, enabling membership tiers for everyone was one of the latest big features Ko-Fi offered last year, and it's possible to have multiple tiers now with various rewards, pricing, etc. 2. Quoting Ko-Fi's help Center: "When someone becomes a member, they pay you directly so you get the money instantly in your PayPal or Stripe account the moment they sign up. No minimum balances, no waiting for payout days. Memberships renew monthly on (or very close to) the day of the month the member first paid you." So I guess the 5% are immediately charged as soon as you receive your payment, as you won't have a global payout like Patreon does. Hope this helps 😊
@@afelliwww Good choice! ^^ It might also interest you, I didn't mention it in the video because it has only been unveiled recently, Ko-Fi has enabled membership tiers for anyone now. Just like Patreon, you can create various tiers and it's available for both free and Gold accounts. In Ko-Fi you have the possibility to post supporter-only content when you have a Gold Account, which is available only to people who paid for 30 days.
