Jeff THANKS so much for putting the camera bull behind us ! my hunting buddy removed all his cams because of some u tube clip he saw saying they were spooking mature bucks ! again THANKS for all of all this free information and the time u give us to present it !
I got my 3rd year switch sprayed with quinclorac on the 2nd and sprayed 24d-r up for second time in winter rye. Ready for buckwheat. Actually, I couldn't believe the lack of weeds and grasses when I sprayed the first time.
Just getting things ready for first planting. Last falls planting is finally starting to get a touch weedy. So down it goes and buckwheat gets started until mid august
IDK where you stand on scent control, but the wma I hunt in KY is absolutely covered in seed ticks! Last year I'd leave each hunt with at least 40 seed ticks so I started using permethrin and it works miracles! Do you think deer smell permethrin?
SE Michigan and I still can't get the tractor into the fields. Way too wet, and it just keeps raining. I hope you bring your Muck boots with you on your Michigan trip. 😂
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad it's not deer season right now. I went out for my morning walk in the woods and spooked a deer. My ATV trail starts on a bridge over a creek. About 20 yards after the bridge it turns to the north and follows the eastern property line. I turned the corner and I heard a loud snort. I looked up and saw the rear end of a big deer, 30 yards away, running away into the woods along the creek. I rarely get mature deer in this trail, because it is so heavily used by us, and never at 11 in the morning. I guess because we had so much rain over night they were late.
Just a heads up, the email in the description for the Camp Kicking Bear Event has the word “solutions” spelled wrong so it was not working. Fixed that word and all is good 👍🏻
Thanks again Jeff! Planted my buckwheat yesterday, sprayed Boost on the Traffic Max, then got about an inch of light rain last night. Following the plan.
Hey Jeff how long do you think clover will last into the fall? I have a beautiful clover plot but thinking about killing it out end of June, planting buckwheat then kill the buckwheat in August and planting wheat, rye, oats and crimson clover 🍀? Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks as always!
I have been way too busy to do my chores in the woods. Is it too late to kill the weeds for an august planting of barassica. Do i have to have buckwheat? I did this a couple years ago and it didnt take but it was just layed on the old weed bed that was killed.
Hi James! You can hit it right now still with 2 quarts of Glyphosate and 1 pint of 2-4D per acre. Hit it again with just the Gly in 4 weeks...again a 3rd time after that at the same time you plant the seed on 8/1. Still right on time!
It is not. The clover can become established, but the brassica will rot out and in some cases seed out...which is bad. There are better cover crops like an annual rye or oats.
Is your Northern Indiana speaking engagement open to the public? I'm from Indiana and have followed you for years and would appreciate an opportunity to thank you in person for improving my hunt over the years.
Hi Jason I wish it was, and wish you could make it! I really appreciate all of the support ..means a lot to me! Also means a lot to hear about your success...keeps me fueled to keep at it, for sure!
I feel like June is when Hunter starts thinking about deer vs the majority of the people that follow your channel that follow you guys religiously all year. I've always been curious if you get more views starting this time of year or not
Actually got it right last fall and held quite a nice herd over winter based on cell cameras left out and sending pics
Mowed some clover yesterday.Frost seeding worked really well.
My muscles r still aching from May chores!!! Trying to stay ahead of the game. Wonderful tips as always. Thanks Jeff

If I can hear a camera, you can bet deer can. It's not all cameras that make noise, but some do.

I’m actually in Lake city for a family trip on Father’s Day weekend……!!!!
Jeff, I just lost all of May with a broken foot. Is there a pause button on the Sturgis calendar?
Dang Narc, I hope you are ok! I know you worked very hard last year so I hope you can feel like you earned a rest for a bit. Take care and heal fast!
Is it okay to plant brassica and radishes and clover in early June
It is not. The clover can become established, but the brassica will rot out and in some cases seed out...which is bad. There are better cover crops like an annual rye or oats.

My biggest bucks come to camera ,in my exact steps when I go change batteries. The same night. Almost every time. I guess they smell something.
Too late to put in a waterhole?
