    Nice helpful vid 👍
I use a lot of Small Rig products on my FS7. I like the EVF adapter you're using, though I use a non Sony EVF with 4k capabilities.
Never bothered with V-lock as the large BPU90 batteries for the FS7 last about 4 + hours each. Having four seems okay. I have an emergency external supply just in case. The biggest issue is weight. A fully rigged fs7 is stupid heavy so its nice you can strip it down.
My recent 'B' cam is two Sony A7III's ... Perfect for gimbals 😀

      Thanks!
Is that the Gratical? They're pretty sweet!
Yeah I used to have a monitor that required dtap and therefore wanted a vlock set up. But the BPU last forever.

The Movcam adapter is trash. Mine goes out all the time. It's like yours but with Gold Mount adapter on it. Went back to the standard Sony batts and can't use my Zacuto Gratical until I buy some D-Tap batts

Your viewfinder eyepiece looks pretty solid. How did you get it to stay on there? Mine doesn't lock it quite as yours appears.

I am a FS7 owner and user. I appreciate your putting it out there HA. Everyone uses this camera but know one talks about it. Yes the tilta adapter is the vmount I purchased its wonderful. The one thing I didn't see you had was mounting the handle on a rosette onto your tripod mount which I think was the best accessory I ever got for my rig. Plus the 18-105 emount is the best lens for ENG set up. Ok its your review not mine keep up the work I will be watching.

Matthew Suhanec Ahhhh I didn't actually think of doing that trick! Clever!!
Agreed there. The 18-105 is a great lens for ENG but the versatility of the camera and the mount adapters makes it a great option for almost all facets of filmmaking. Thanks for your comment and I'm happy to hear you are sticking around for more videos :)

Nice tips! I have FS7 mkii. I love the Shape grip extender, Small rig or Shape top plate, Shape half baseplate - Light!. I often do not even use a baseplate at all - just have tripod plate and stick FS7 on my shoulder like out of the box. But Shape half base plate comes in handy for follow focus if needed. I use Swit with D tap for monitor if needed. My lens for daily run gun the 18-110mm f4. An excellent servo lens.
Im wondering what lenses you use and would love to know if you a have any experience using metabones ultra speed booster EF - to E mount with if any of these Canon lenses. And if they play nice with i.e electronics like auto focus work etc.

Sweeeeeet! Always lovely to hear what other people are using!
I used to own a canon DSLR when I was first starting out so I had a Canon 24-105 and a 3 lens set of Rokinon Cine lenses. I've since sold those because I wanted to head down the Sony path. I still do have the Metabones EF-E Mark IV adapter but every time I have used Canon lenses I've gone with just pulling focus myself so I can't really tell you about my experience with Auto Focus. I have heard it isn't that amazing though. I mean, it is never going to be the best through an adaptor anyway. My FS7 tends to get used on smaller shoots and corporate work but any other jobs like commercials (which I am getting more and more of) tend to be a hired camera and lens kit. So, in terms of the Sony lens I replaced my Canon lenses with, I went with the Sony 24-70 GM. That way it can be used on my A7Rii for any photography/UA-cam. 🙂
There are also some cases where I've used the FS7 for a job and hired PL lenses and filters to get a more cinematic look on a budget. It really is what you put in front of a camera to a certain extent!

eheheh yeah on further research looks like most adaptors kinda sux compared to the seemless native experience. Good to hear you are getting the groove with FS7! Its def a fantastic all rounder. Yeah Im organising a doco shoot in Africa but the lenses are all Canon no cost as part of the budget. So I think Ill be going town the metabones road...I've also got an A7iii as part of night cameras and want to put for some native glass on it. I thought the Sigma 18-35 1.8 (with their native e mount) crop mode would make a excellent night zoom. Unfortunately I've since discovered its not even out yet eheheh. So the Sony 16-35 2.8 GM seems like a logical choice as the fastest smallest Sony zoom.
On the FS7 It'll be the 24-105mm (2.8 with a met speed booster and manual all the way). In fact the only Sony lens I got are 10-18 f4 wide and 18-110mm f4 servo - which really good ENG style but wish it was 2.8 of course eheheh. So the Sony 16-35 is my little gem hopefully I can get in the budget. As I think on A7 series its so helpful to go Native. I mean you can operate your way around lens on the FS7 but when you go run-gun with a A7 series auto focus is a massive help. Another issue is the 100-400 canon on the FS7...I think we'll need auto focus on the long end to minimise shake when touching in manual focusing. Im scouring the internet for examples and work arounds but...Im in denial :)... I think really is a simple case of just using Native glass when necessary ie sony 100-400. Oh the joys of budgeting. Good luck...:)

What Mac or pc would you need for this camera, re editing? Did you find an alternative to Movcam acessory?

    • @flickcine
      @flickcine  4 роки тому

What Mac of PC: Anything that can handle 4K footage really. Unless of course you use proxy files. In my usage of the FS7 I never had any troubles using a 2015 Macbook Pro with Premiere.
I never ended up getting any alternative to the Movcam personally, but looking at a friends setup, they used a Hawk-Woods V-Lok adapter which has a tonne of D-tap ports on it and fits nicely to the camera/batteries seem secure.
