The Chosen is an American Christian historical drama television series created, directed and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins. It is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. Primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the 1st century, the series centers on Jesus and the different people who met and followed or otherwise interacted with him. The series stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, alongside Shahar Isaac, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James, and George H. Xanthis. Noticing that there had never been a multi-season, episode-based portrayal of Jesus that could be "binge-watched" like shows on streaming mediums such as Netflix, Jenkins intended the show to differ from previous portrayals of Jesus by crafting a story arc that focused more deeply on the people who encountered Jesus and viewing him through their eyes. He wanted to present Jesus in a way that was more "personal, intimate, and immediate".
The producers have used innovative methods for finance and release, primarily through crowdfunding. Fundraising for the first season[3][4] as well as subsequent ones continues to make The Chosen the most successful crowdfunded TV series or film project. As of 2021, viewers had contributed $40 million towards its production. In late 2022, the creators partnered with a new nonprofit company, the Come and See Foundation, to manage funding, which allows contributors to receive a tax deduction for their contribution.
In addition to crowdfunding and the pay-it-forward model, revenue is also generated through several other methods. The show is licensed to other streaming platforms and TV networks, such as Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and Netflix. Merchandise and video sales provide additional sources of revenue, as have limited premiere runs in cinemas. The show has been further adapted into a series of novels by Jenkins's father, author Jerry B. Jenkins, a series of graphic novels by Corvus Comics, and companion Bible study materials published by David C. Cook. New episodes are released for free on the Angel Studios website and app and are later made available through various streaming platforms. Some episodes, particularly season debuts and finales, have been released in theaters before coming out for free. According to an analysis commissioned by the producers, 108 million had seen at least part of the show as of 2022. Translation into as many as 600 languages is being funded by the Come and See Foundation.

The chosen is the best tv show by a mile
When you have watched the series you can rewatch them over and over and never tire of them
The actors are amazing
The Chosen is a beautifully compelling story of Jesus and His followers. It deepens the faith of believers, and as a family, we are longing for the day when there will be no more illness, no more pain, no more suffering... only an eternity in the presence of the Triune God.
The Chosen is a Mormon production and in many ways, goes against the Bible.

We've needed a series like this for a while. I think the last big Christian movie was Passion of the Christ and that was like a decade ago. It makes me happy because I know it will influence many people to accept Jesus and get saved.

The Bible is a sacred narrative. It is a story of human redemption. An overarching theme is discussed. Though certain human beings are the protagonists, God is the ultimate protagonist of the story. In fact, the story arc is centred on the God-man: Jesus himself. The story arc is exposed or begins with man's failure to do what God required of him because they failed to believe or trust in him in Genesis and it is resolved or ends with Jesus' return in Revelation. It is his story (history), that he ultimately inspired through his Spirit. The story arc is centred on his interaction with human beings, where the rising action mostly discusses their failures. The falling action mostly examines their successes, which were made possible by him, as he empowered/enabled them through his Spirit to do what he required, and which was ultimately made possible because of his death and resurrection: that which made human redemption possible.
It is a sacred narrative because the story arc climaxes on "Holy week", another way of saying "sacred week", where the plot narrows down to the death and resurrection of Jesus, the climax. The falling action follows the climax, where it discusses how the protagonist works out how he will ultimately resolve the problem that was exposed at the beginning, which is fulfilled through the preaching of the gospel by those the protagonist redeems as a consequence of their faith or trust in him - in what he accomplished through his death and resurrection.
As a Christian Jew I am beyond grateful to the Chosen: meticulously masterminded and the cast is outstanding.
I love the Chosen, it brings another emotional level to the story of Jesus….Johnathon does marvelous work on Jesus’s life, all the actors/actresses are noteworthy and exceptional in playing them roles, but since we weren’t there to witness it, we can only speculate upon Jesus’ life. I can’t wait for the new season and wish Seasons 1-4 could return to theaters now while in preparation of Season 5.
A lot of movies in the theaters currently shown are sort’ve meh. Maybe an earlier Season shown in order might both reach a new audience and help the theaters do better financially with attendance. Besides, theaters are much more immersive than TV that the series emphasizes.
The Chosen series is so much more than just a recreation of Scripture. It’s an interesting narrative of ordinary people in extraordinary times shown in a long format. Most Biblical movies in the past have to condense events for time. This series can delve into the interplay that led to those events. (Matthew and John weren’t everywhere with pen and papyrus). 😂
See you at the theaters when 5 arrives and bring a friend. They might need it more than you.

I raised my X from the utter darkness, with CPR , could he have known this , or was it more important to capture the magnitude of the moment by writing the part about three days, ( bringing astrological order to the script ) and a stinking corpse, as any really ill person would be since he could not get out of the bed to bath, he stuck, you smell me ?
I just do not understand why well-known pastors like Vauchman and Mc Arthur absolutely abhor The Chosen( not sure of those spellings of their last names…)…supposedly,it has something to do with a gay pride flag that someone hung on one of the production tents and it was removed..and the other situation had something to do to do with the LDS church and filming on their land? Again,with all the good this show has brought to the world in spreading of the Wonderful Plan of Salvation…it just seems their reasons are kind of shallow..just my opinion. …not sure Dallas even knew about either situation…if anyone could clarify ,I would appreciate it ! At any rate,just to be sure,I have prayed before the start of each episode for Jesus to help me be aware of anything there might be in this show that He does not approve of…to please allow the Holy Spirit to make me aware…so far,I have had only really good blessing type vibes in watching it. I live in a large rent controlled apartment house where there are many older Christians who watch the show and have received blessings from watching the show.I just think ,in today’s world,with all the pure evil around us..a show like The Chosen would be welcomed!
