Stafford should have got the MVP, not Rodgers, the proof is in the Ring.
The sheer amount of mental processes that have to take place in Stafford's mind to complete that pass are 'mind' boggling. All the people he has to acknowledge and account for and under pressure that would MELT a normal person in that scenario are why he has earned every cent the Rams are paying him. OTHER than Mahomes, I seriously can't think of ANY other QB that WOULD even try to do that in that moment, perhaps Rodgers but he's not known for that. Stafford is the most underrated and disrespected QB in PRO football. People twist themselves in KNOTS to keep from having to give that man his due as one of the best arm talents in the game.

Just think...this was his first year, in a new offense, new receivers, and coaches! Do you think he gets a little better, more comfortable, and productive the second year!? I think so! I can't even imagine what this offense will be like with a healthy Oline, Allen Robinson, Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, Higbee, a 100% healthy Cam Akers, and OBJ returns mid season...OMG! Matthews, the Defense will give Matt the ball in great field position all year!
That'd be an amazing season for him..He's a gunslinger like Favre so he's always going to have the interceptions but over half of them are probably tipped or from a miscommunication with the WR..

Who was it, was it that dumb tight end from Denver that hangs out with Bayless that said, "He's a good QB, not great but good"? Fans of any team in the NFC North could have told you that Matty was, and is, an absolute badass. Has been since the jump. You just didn't see him play because he was nearly murdered for a dozen years in Detroit. I can't speak for all GB fans, but I can tell you that I recognize and respect this man's body of work. He was THE reason that our two games each year against dumb Detroit were *juuuuuust* a little scary. Well, him and CJ, AKA Megatron.
Having played quarterback for roughly two snaps in middle school practice, I’d like to weigh in: Seems like the No Look Pass could/should be mastered by future quarterbacks as it could put defenses just that much more off balance/guessing. Potentially highly under-utilized and could revolutionize the Quarterback position in certain aspects.
i luv your first sentence - it certainly qualifies you to give us an insiders look at things. I've been a lions fan for 62 years. The lions are the only team in history (i could be off on this) the only team in history with two HOFers who retired in their prime rather than continue being in misery as a lion - Barry and Calvin- Matthew didnt retire, and he also will be a HOFer but he had to leave detroit to do it.
uh, that has helped every quarterback who has ever played the game of football. it's really difficult when you don't know where your receivers are going. lol.
i still think stafford's signature moment has to be the cleveland separated shoulder game. that encompasses everything about him in one singular moment.
Totally agree about encouraging a VARIETY of sports.....because the cross-over/cross-training.....targeting of different skill-sets/machinations IS WORTH it!! And I'm 66.
The throw of the helmet catch was the least impressive part. That's a throw almost every nfl qb makes. The escape was amazing and insane. The catch was otherworldly. I'm not trying diminish anything eli did, on that play or in that superbowl. Just pointing out the amazing parts of the helmet catch wasn't the throw.
Matthew Stafford is only going to get better now that he is loved by a Super Bowl winning franchise. RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!!
I'm glad that you recognized Stafford has been doing this for years, and that you acknowledged the Detroit fans who have been telling you this for years.
It's not all because of a baseball background lol.. Who hasn't thrown a football side arm or 3/4 armed 🙄 As a kid and to this very day, i can throw a very accurate side arm throw lol.. Now not having ur head turned towards the receiver and making that throw in that moment between 2 defenders was hella impressive!! He had to look off that safety to complete that throw! Was a absolute dime by Stafford!! Was one of the most impressive big time throws in a SB i ever witnessed!! Stafford is a baller man!!
If Brady or Mahomes would've been drafted by Detroit they would've been trade or retired. Nobody would know either of them. The lions are a dumpster fire for players. It's still a team sport. Quarterback is only part of the equation.
He’s been doing it since high school then collage and when Aaron Rogers was asked if he saw the great Mahomes no look throw and quickly replied yeah I’ve been seein them for TEN years by this guy in Detroit ever heard of him his name is Matt Stafford was his answer
He's thrown for 50,000 effing yards, this ain't new. They will repeat. When they traded him I said they would win the SB. He will be better next year. Robert Woods will be back. They will wreck the league if there is a season.
Hall of Fame caliber play on the biggest stage by a Super Bowl Champion and future Hall of Famer. I'll be shocked if he doesn't win at least one more Super Bowl before he retires.
it looked like Bell, at last second, caught himself, and read Stafford, but was a 1/2 second late. Cuz he stops before Staff releases ball. Maybe he saw left foot open up towards Kupp? But it does seem like Bell saw it, just too late.
as a lifelong Lions fan, I can tell you we never deserved him. the fans did, but not the organization. i'm super happy for him but that just shows me the only reason why his career wasn't a waste in Detroit is because he got to throw to Calvin Johnson. i hope he wins another SB. he's the best qb the lions have ever had and it isn't even close.
Really? That pass is the moment of his career? He's been doing this for 13 years, you guys just didn't pay attention. What about when he had his shoulder separated and went out to throw one more pass to win the game? While this is a brilliant throw, that's not the defining moment of his career. He has many of those, you guys just never paid attention to him. He's put up huge passing numbers and TDs per season his whole career. He has the biggest arm on football. It's disappointing that the NFL Network of all people are so amazed by him, he's been a top QB for years, just stuck in a system that couldn't give him the room to run.
The HOF talk is premature, while I think he is likely a lock for the HOF, it's based on the assumption he plays for 4-5 more years, and continues to play at his high level of about 5000 yards per year. now on a playoff team, that should be an acheivable average. based on that, he should retire with 70k+ yards, 400-450 td's and a sb win. Heck, if he plays till he's 40, he very well may end up with over 80k yards.... he also has a good chance at at least one more SB appearance.
70k-80k yards? He's sitting at just under 50k right now. He would need 5 more years of averaging 4500 yards a year to get to 70k. 7 more years of 4500 yds/year for 80k. That's not happening... sorry.
@@ihatehers With the playoff run, he had almost 6000 yards this year. So, he was at 50K regular season stats end of this year (5 yards under) before the playoffs, and added 900+ playoff yards this year. He's averaged 4500 yards per full season year with out playoffs(almost 4900 this this year), and hes at 52k+ total yards already (Keeping in mind HOF numbers are total yards, not reg season). Now add the 17th game, the is no reason he won't put up 4500+ a year from here out. Add in an average of 1 playoff game a year, and 5k/year is reasonable. But even looking at regular season stats. 50k in 12 years, if he plays 6 more and keeps up that rate, that's 75k. And the extra game makes it reasonable for him to keep up the clip, when combined with his age, he's only 34.

As a lions fan I watched him do that for 12 seasons in Detroit. Im so happy for him to get a chance & even happier that he showed the rest of the world how clutch he is. The guy won alot of games in Detroit that they should've lost with his game winning drives.
greatest throw in super bowl history
Stafford is extremely underrated. As a Bear fan, I watched him extensively over the past decade. he forced the Lions to win records and playoffs with trash on both sides of the ball. Could you look at how many wins the Lions had since he left? 3... Never bet against Stafford I'm in the 4th quarter. 45 comeback wins. he got ignored so much because of the team he played for. I said for over a decade when analysts and other fans "What quarterback would you want with the game on the line with 2 minutes left and down more than a field goal. I always said Stafford because unlike most fans out of the NFC North and not blinded by fanboy fury for Rodgers... Over and over and over since he was drafted I've seen him make those passes. I've seen him will his team back with zero weapons with Megatron either out or retired and won games. I'm not a Lions fan but they wasted his prime like other players they've had over the past 4 decades... If he wasn't in the NFC North and competing against one of the most overrated Qbs who statistically struggles in big game moments or playing from behind... He would have gotten more respect for what he did with whom he had to work with. Think about it. If Stafford had even half the talent Rodgers has had in WRs and running backs like Jones or when Lacy won his award before letting himself go. he'd have more than one ring. I'd take Stafford in big-game situations over Rodgers any day of the week. The stats do not lie. 45 comeback victories. But because Rodgers makes pretty passes or crazy hail Mary passes in games that don't matter only to ultimately lose over and over and over in the postseason... Took almost 13 years for people to wake up and see why the Rams did what they did. Stafford delivered. For all the Naysayers who doubted this man, he gave you everything he has been for 13 years on that Sunday night. Incredible talent, for all the marbles, and another game-winning drive to add to his resume. As a Lions fan, I watched him do that for 12 seasons in Detroit. I'm so happy for him to get a chance & even happier that he showed the rest of the world how clutch he is. The guy won a lot of games in Detroit that they should've lost with his game-winning drives. I bet this hurts like hell for Kay and Kyle to be forced to talk about something amazing Stafford and the Rams did to win the Superbowl when both of them picked against the Rams in all 4 playoff games. Darius Leonard said a few years ago that Stafford has the best eye discipline of any QB he's played against. Watched him do this for 12 years and finally people are amazed. Come on dawgs, this QB is amazing it's about time you got on board. That greatest throw in Super Bowl history Stafford is the most disrespected QB to play the game. Next year he will be top 10 all-time in BOTH passing yards AND td's. In the last 60 years, there have been 4 triple crown receivers, and Stafford created 2 of them. He has over 6,000 yards and 50 TDs on his SB run. Come on now. With the ring now, the guy is 100% an offer. Matt is officially a part of the GOATs
Thank you for winning this Super Bowl for all the true die-hard Rams fans still riding since St. Louis… 🏆✊🏻🐏 If you look at the pass Mahomes did, he is looking at the receiver even though his head is turned. Stafford wasn't looking at all. The better passer is Stafford. Stafford has now led a team to the Super Bowl and also stood at the helm of the only 0-16 in NFL history, that’s quite the spectrum of a career; literally from the bottom to the top. Combine that with having the most 4th comeback wins of any QB, and I think Matt deserves to be in the HoF conversation one day He's been doing this for 13 years, the reason why people are shocked is because he played for the Lions so his highlights never showed on national TV This no-look pass isn't Stafford's greatest moment. Detroit Lions vs Cleveland Browns 2009 game-winning drive, final play. Watch the mic up! that first TD pass to OBJ was sick, great throw great over-the-shoulder catch in the corner of the end zone. Stafford is and has been an amazing Quarterback! Hall of Fame bound! Even the camera was prepared to follow that ball into the bottom of the field, not the middle. Incredible. Stafford saved his best for last with the Superbowl on the line. So Confident! SO CLUTCH!!! Breadth Taking. 🤪🎯🎯🎯🏆👀👀 What a play (in the Superbowl) as good as it gets!
I have been a Ram fan my whole life and a Stafford fan his whole career he's a hall of Famer in my book You the Man Stafford.
Stafford literally did this for over a decade in Detroit. Nobody knew about him other than us (and fellow NFC North fans). He literally willed Detroit to winning seasons, and the first season without him they count winning 3 games as "a good season" because it looked like they would go 0-17 there for a hot minute. Stafford should have got the MVP, not Rodgers, the proof is in the Ring.
Stafford been doing this for 10 years, he just didn't get the attention like mahomes cos he was in detroit
Matt is officially apart of the GOATs
Thank you for winning this super bowl for all the true die hard rams fans still riding since St. Louis… 🏆✊🏻🐏

What a play (in the Superbowl) as good as it gets!
I have Ben a Ram fan my whole life and a Stafford fan his whole career he's a hall of famer in my Book you the man stafford
This no look pass isn't Stafford's greatest moment. Detroit Lions vs Cleveland Browns 2009 game winning drive, final play. Watch the mic'd up!
Is that where he's screaming at the team to get set so he can spike the ball for a last play, and runs the ball in for the win instead? Brilliant sand lot play that caught EVERYONE off guard. Physical talent, intelligence, game awareness at the next level. How is Stafford not a HOF candidate when he hangs them up?
@@cdjhyoung no it’s the one where he dislocated his left shoulder left the field Browns called a timeout he comes back and throws the game tying touchdown
One was in the Super Bowl and the other was not.
Given the circumstances, I’d say you’re wrong.
Calvin's 329 yard game was Stafford's greatest moment imo. Game winning drive with less than a minute. 3 laser throws and a fake spike to run it in to win the game. It was absolutely perfect. Yes, the no look is great but that last drive had to be perfect and he ends it by making the cowboys look like absolute fools. Watch that entire drive
that first TD pass to OBJ was sick , great throw great over the shoulder catch in the corner of the end zone .
Great reporting, yes Stafford is about to get so well deserved love by all of us!
Stafford saved his best for last with the Superbowl on the line. So Confident! SO CLUTCH!!! Breadth Taking. 🤪🎯🎯🎯🏆👀👀
Don't forget when Mathew threw A touch down pass with a separated shoulder.
Right. To win it.
almost been 2 years, but i can confirm this was the best pass i've ever seen in my life
I could watch this over and over again it's so good
He's been doing this for 13 years, reason why people are shocked because he played for the lions so his highlights never showed on national TV
What's been forgotten is that Stafford was the 1st throwing the sidearm pass in the pro bowl. Even Aaron Rogers on the sideline mocked it an the started throwing it and got all the credit for.
I know that I’m watching this late but Stafford has been a beast. I’m actually surprised that this many people didn’t seem to know either who or how good he was. He’s been making the throws that Mahommes gets praised for since 2008. It’s crazy
Stafford has now led a team to the Super Bowl and also stood at the helm of the only 0-16 in NFL history, that’s quite the spectrum of a career; literally from the bottom to the top.
Combine that with having the most 4th comeback wins of any QB, I think Matt deserves to be in the HoF conversation one day
The 0-16 lions used the earned number 1 overall pick to take Stafford. He wasn't on that team.
Stafford wasn't on the 0-16 team. He got drafted in 2009 right after that season. He was the #1 pick from that 0-16 season. MIND YOU Calvin was on that team and they still went 0-16.
Dan Orlovsky
@@waleedb3191 " MIND YOU Calvin was on that team and they still went 0-16." god man, thanks for that, forgot just HOW BAD they were before stafford, and really for most of his career if it weren't for him.
Great piece folks...good work!
I've seen so much of this dude that it's hard for me to take someone serious that questions what he is. I automatically just feel like they haven't watched him and are just going off something they heard. It's people that will literally say he isn't good how do I respect and opinion like that?
Stafford is and has been an amazing Quarterback! Hall of fame bound!
Coach Sean mcvay is a dam good coach for the la Rams
Just think...this was his first year, in a new offense, new receivers, and coaches! Do you think he gets a little better, more comfortable, and productive the second year!? I think so! I can't even imagine what this offense will be like with a healthy Oline, Allen Robinson, Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, Higbee, a 100% healthy Cam Akers, and OBJ returns mid season...OMG! This could end up being Matt Stafford's best year of his career! 5,000 yards, 50 TDs, 15 Ints. 70% Completion, and 8-10 yards per attempt! And if the Rams sign Gilmore and/or T. Matthews, the Defense will give Matt the ball in great field position all year!
That'd be an amazing season for him..He's a gunslinger like Favre so he's always going to have the interceptions but over half of them are probably tipped or from a miscommunication with the WR..
Gotta say, having that angle highlighted how awesome it really was. How Al and Chris just ignored that?
Chris pointed it out after the play, but they seemed to move on quickly.
Even the camera was prepared to follow that ball into the bottom of the field, not the middle. Incredible.
FOOTBALL FOLLOWER FOR MANY YEARS AND EVEN SAW SOME GAMES ON TV WITH STAFFORD PLAYING FOR LIONS. NEVER, SAW A PASS LIKE HE DID ON SUPERBOWL SUNDAY AND WHEN I SAW IT IN SLOW MOTION, IT WAS MORE INCREDIBLE THAN I FIRST SAW IT IN LIVE ACTION. AN AMAZING PASS.
Nice that we're looking back at his career.
I know it's been a year, but that no look pass was just filthy.
Number 24 just got what most lions def and practice squads have been dealing with his whole career. Us in mich know what Rams got when they made the trade. This is just the beginning.
About freaking time they figured it out. He’s been doing it for years
Who was it, was it that dumb tight end from Denver that hangs out with Bayless that said, "He's a good QB, not great but good"?
Interceptions will go way up.
i luv your first sentence - it certainly qualifies you to give us an insiders look at things.
As a Detroit fan I am very happy for Stafford. Super bowl. We were saying this is as close as we get to Superbowl. Stafford and Eminem. Hell yeah
Knowing where your receiver is going to be helped Stafford in this situation. H know he can count on Kupp to be where the ball is thrown.
uh, that has helped every quarterback who has ever played the game of football. it's really difficult when you don't know where your receivers are going. lol.
i still think stafford's signature moment has to be the cleveland separated shoulder game. that encompasses everything about him in one singular moment.
Stafford has always been on some ol' NFL STREETS type deal with them nolook passes.
Totally agree about encouraging a VARIETY of sports.....because the cross-over/cross-training.....targeting of different skill-sets/machinations IS WORTH it!! And I'm 66.
ua-cam.com/video/wBazjpyZM8w/v-deo.html
The throw of the helmet catch was the least impressive part. That's a throw almost every nfl qb makes.
The escape was amazing and insane. The catch was otherworldly. I'm not trying diminish anything eli did, on that play or in that superbowl. Just pointing out the amazing parts of the helmet catch wasn't the throw.
Agreed 100% and people keep missing this. If we are talking about the throw specifically, I personally can’t think of a better one
If we didn't lose O'Dell, he would've had 200 yards & 3 touchdowns
Stafford was laughing after throwing the no look pass off the bus at the rams parade..very cool..
💯for Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford is only going to get better now that he is loved by a Super Bowl winning franchise. RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!! RUN IT BACK!!!!
I tried a no look pass in my back yard and broke my guest room window.
I'm glad that you recognized Stafford has been doing this for years, and that you acknowledged the Detroit fans who have been telling you this for years.
Matthew has been tormenting zone coverages his whole career with no-look passes.🐏🐏🏈🏆⚡
The NFC North always knew how good Stafford could be.
Clutchest play I've ever seen.
The PERFECT PASS from the COOLEST GUN SLINGER under MAXIMUM PRESSURE at The BIGGEST MOMENT setting up The Win @ THE SUPERBOWL !!!! 🎯🎯🎯👀
This throw is absolutely NASTY!
He pulled the no look off meer hundreds of yards from where Magic Johnson did it so often at the forum. Was it destiny?
Congratulations. ! ⭐
Matt Stafford
⭐ The ⭐
One That Got Away !
From The Lions. ! 🏈
It's not all because of a baseball background lol.. Who hasn't thrown a football side arm or 3/4 armed 🙄
As a kid and to this very day, i can throw a very accurate side arm throw lol..
No one has done that in a SB. Amazing!
If Brady or Mahomes would've been drafted by Detroit they would've been trade or retired. Nobody would know either of them. The lions are a dumpster fire for players. It's still a team sport. Quarterback is only part of the equation.
FACTS
he knew where kupp was cuz heard the whoosh of him running
Before winning the Super Bowl, the Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Young receivers! Notice how Kupp gives-up his back rather than his knees.
Both passes by Stafford and Mahomes are pretty sick
Kay stays looking 🔥🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Brady did that once too
Man these pro QBs would be working so hard to get things like this right!
He’s a Hall of Famer don’t @ me
Larry and Magic appreciate this pass, I'm sure.
Stafford being Stafford! Lil Russ Wilson can't do it 😉
3:00 he even fools the camera operator…who films in the direction of the arm angle and head, as opposed to the flight of the ball.
All packer fans know how good Stafford is. This isn't news to any of the NFC North opponents. Just goes to show he carried the Lions
He did it in Detroit for a TD
NUMBER NINE
Kay Adams is so damn beautiful 😍
Enjoy Dads happiness 1-6 at Chris Phally please. QB with years as a pro teaches the lessons... experience is the teacher... JC Penny said.
Stafford was Kershaws catcher.
I thought Cooper said he did something with his foot .Before the ball was snapped ..Cooper said I think he's going to me ..?
i am in love with kay
I think I could watch Kay Adams OVER AND OVER AND OVER. She is SO Gorgeous
@@jaywalsh1329 haha, what other QB in the history of the NFL, besides Tom Brady, puts up those numbers all the way up to 40 years old? Do you think 34 is considered "young" now in terms of QBs?
@@ihatehers when he has the receiver and O line he does? 34 is definitely young
@@ryanrampage8266 Nah, it's really not. Of all the starting QBs, who have a job next year, he's the 3rd oldest.
My 🐏 🐏 can repeat next year
