@SilvianoJ okay For the command Flight they pull arms down so there are no holes in between arms and body. Then Ten-Hut. Parade rest is just a more relaxed position of attention and you should always be completely ready to come to attention.
@SilvianoJ at 0:35 he says; "notice there are no windows." if the hands are raised above the belt line then his elbows will stick out creating visible space through the arms at the sides of the body. that space is called a "window", and should not be there. the arms are kept down and tight in the back so there are no "windows".
When assuming the "parade rest" stance, the hands should be held in the small of the back, just above the belt line. In this video they show the hands on the behind, this is not correct. "Windows" are created when hands are held at the small of the back so I don't understand why the narrator would say "windows aren't allowed"
@SilvianoJ if you're talking about the army criterion, then your critique is on the wrong video. the arms are kept pulled in tight, by the way, not just hanging down loosely.
@LFJ Well maybe that's how they do it in the Air Force but in the Army you place your hands "at the small of the back" (not on your butt) This can be found in the Army Field Manual (FM 3-21.5 Chapter 4 sec 2) if you care to look. Personally I think it looks sloppy to have your hands hanging loosely like that...
as simple as i was taught, all you do is stick your arms to the side of your body and don't make 'windows'. at ease the same thing just with our hands behind our back without any 'windows'. I'm in the AAFC and taught by a corporal so that should be right.
And remember kids, once you enlist, marry right away to have off base housing and more benefits. She’ll be well taken care of when you are deployed ❤️💕😘
anyone here b/c they wanted to see if the Marines in the JB Speech were in an actual real stance...that maybe they changed the stances with some new woke parade stance with the hands in front..
“Woke”? That’s been the technique forever. Hands in front is simply a CEREMONIAL technique that is only used by those authorized to use it. It’s simply that some marines are authorized to do drill not in accordance with MCO 5060.20. Besides that.. why would you look at a 12 year old USAF video to find how the Marines stand at parade rest?
PARADE, HISS

Daniel Heckman Air Force rests on them booty cheeks
Daniel Heckman they are Air Force cadets. All the other branches do it the other way.

@CLI10010111 The USAF has us put our hands in that way, to prevent "windows." The Army has the arms in the small of the back
I believe the Army, Navy and Marines all do it as you have stated. The Air Force do it on the behind.
