This is only good if you work for your salvation. But if you understand that it is the father who saves you. Then it is not about work but about love.

“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” (Luke 14:27-28, KJV)

Jesus Christ has warned us to consider the cost. The love that we have for God is very precious. It is nice to see good days and enjoy the joy of a Lord.
But we also need to remember that this comes with a cost.
Salvation is a gift from God. It is a combination of works and Faith together. Because we have Faith in God. Our works follow after our Faith proving our Faith.
People do not get mad and angry at you because you are a Christian. People do not get angry and mad at you because you are a good person.
What they get angry and mad about is when they see your works because you are a Christian. Faith without works is dead.

Awesome teaching, Solberg and Brown. I feel that in our humanity, our flesh we try so hard and make many errors, but if we walk whole heartily in the Spirit which we have in Christ we will succeed as Paul and many before us. With God, nothing is impossible. He is there with us always and forever.
God is awesome. How grateful I am that He chose me...and I accepted Him...and now follow Him regardless of the cost in this life it will all pass. I look to our Heavenly Father Kingdom, which is where my destiny is and will be for all of eternity. Sometimes, I feel humanity makes God Holy Word harder than it needs to be.. the book of John is my favorite book... even though Jesus came to His Chosen People first, it also applies to all mankind.

Fascinate, Stimulate, Complicate, Suffocate. My best friend recently converted to Catholicism. This perfectly describes his conversion too. We're still close friends, and I'm glad it was Catholicism rather than some of the other things he was considering. It seems to be the universal trap of spiritualism. "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about Me," (John 5:39). It is not kosher or hail Marys that bring us closer to God, it is Jesus/Yeshua that is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).

Right… but on numerous occasions in the Old Testament, God required an individual of high moral character to vouch on behalf of the Israelites.
What this conveys, to me at least, is that sometimes you get what you need when a righteous person serves as a witness to you.
You should (and I do) recite your prayers in the name of Jesus, directed to the father, but I don’t think it’s wrong to ask for some support from Mother Mary.
I refuse to believe that God would penalize you for invoking his mother’s support. If anything, I strongly believe that it can help.

The spirit that is behind this post confesses "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh".
Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Now we, brethren (the church) as Isaac was, are the child of promise. We are grafted into the blessing of Abraham, at a time, before Jacob was born.
The church is a spiritual type of Isaac, not Israel.
Isaac was never under the law of Moses or the ten commandments.

It’s all about the resurrection. I have listened to many orthodox rabbis talk about Jesus, and one thing they avoid (or miss out) is talk on the resurrection. If Jesus did indeed resurrect, then all their opposition comes to naught. The apostle Paul’s emphasis was always the resurrection, and it should be ours too.

Dr. Brown, I've watched several of your Answering The Rabbis series. I'm heartened to hear that you are preparing a retort to the many vehement statements Rabbi Tovia Singer launches at the Christian faithful on a near daily basis. Still, for some reason I like him. I think it's because he seems very sincere in his love of G-d, and his knowledge is prodigious. I pray for the Lord to bless him with the full truth of G-d's word so he can see the Lord Jesus in it as G-d intends. Perhaps one day... Bless you both, and thank you for what you do for the kingdom. ✝

Even with the help of Mike Brown Prof Solsberg lost this debate terribly. I wonder if Rabbi Singer would have gone forth with this debate if he known you were conspiring with Dr Brown - seeing that Brown edited the debate he had with the Rabbi to make himself look good. @walkinginthegodgiven-jerem5502 Yes, but they are not obligated. No one is forcing them, nor I. I do it because I love it. It's not an obligation. I am jewish, but I believe that anyone who wants to walk in covenant (not seek salvation) should obey the Torah. Just like the mixed crowd that came out of Egypt with the Hebrews. God called them all "children of Israel." Paul clearly says that in Christ we are all sons of Abraham. I don't know what's so complicated...it's almost like "this is for us mentality not for you." Christo tore down that wall. Why would He only want to give it to one person... wouldn't He love that all obey. Isn't that what the 1000 reign is about obeying Torah and having Shalom for all? It's not complicated. Some theologians complicate it due to money, fame and pride, or just blindness.

@@isacnoel4326 we are 100% obligated as Christians to keep the Torah because it is Christ who binds us to the Torah. Otherwise we may be in jeopardy of hearing on that day depart from me you who practice lawlessness. What is happening here is the false movement of Zionism and and people have taught falsely concerning replacement theology as to what it means, and what does it mean, Jesus, is the fruit of Israel, ancient Israel that is, and he is now the high priest and king, and absolutely the object of all of our worship, and he has replaced all, and he is all, so once we have become in covenant with YESHUA we are now the children of God and we are the house of Israel. I love Israel, and I love all peoples, but there seems to be a great deception in this hour that Jews are going to heaven separate from Jesus as they have an active living covenant already without the new covenant and this is entirely false. Only those who know his voice are children of the living God and only those that are born again are legally considered the house of Israel.

(1Co 7:18 TLV) Was anyone called when he already had been circumcised (Jewish)? Let him not make himself uncircumcised (to hide his Jewishness). Has anyone been called while uncircumcised (Non-Jewish)? Let him not allow himself to be circumcised (in order to be accepted by your Jewish brothers, or to think he is more saved than he was before) Parenthesis are my comment.
(1Co 7:19 TLV) Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing-but keeping God’s commandments matters
    To keep it simple
#1. If you are Jewish, you do not stop being Jewish because now you have faith in Messiah Yeshua, you do not stop being Jewish or have to hide who you are by becoming uncircumcised. Many in the Churches at times would tell a Jewish believer that they were no longer Jewish, because now they are Christians. A Jewish person will always be Jewish.
#2. Has anyone been called while uncircumcised, which would be the Non-Jewish believers, they did not have to become circumcised to be accepted into the covenant, they are already accepted in Messiah Yeshua, and Jewish believers should treat them as equals in Messiah.
There are no 2nd class citizens in YHVH ELOHIMS Kingdom.

    • @TheBiblicalRoots
      @TheBiblicalRoots  Рік тому +3

I'm not quite following you, Jamie. Neither Dr. Brown nor I suggest that keeping the commandments of God is no longer required. I teach and believe that obedience is God’s “love language.” Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). And I'm sure you would agree that not every command that God has given applies to every person at all times. Some of His commands only apply to certain people (i.e., men, women, parents, Levitical priests) or for certain times (i.e., building an ark, gathering manna, while in exile). And I'm sure you would also agree that we are each only expected to keep the commands of God that apply to us. The NT teaches that the ceremonial Mosaic commands do not apply to Christians today. (ex. Repeated blood sacrifices for sin are no longer required (Heb 10:18).) We still serve God and obey His commands, “But now we are released from the law, having died with Christ to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code” (Rom 7:6).
      Blessings, Rob

@@TheBiblicalRootsso why does the Messiah have a sin sacrifice for the FUTURE temple? Now non-Jews aren't required to keep the 613 Mitzvot but Isaiah 56 shows if they do out of a pure heart they'll be greater then sons or daughters. Also, JC isn't HaShem see John 8:40, Galatians 4:4, Hoses 11:9, Numbers 23:19, and Isaiah 45:5. Furthermore if we were to actually look at Paul's writings we would need more information to know what he was dealing with and to whom he was actually speaking otherwise he's a other Roman puppet just like the High Priest was along with the Sadducee's. Paul was either teaching the Noahide covenant or making stuff to try to blend Hellenized Jewish culture with Roman culture something Jesus would've seen as abhorrent if we are reading John 1:24-31 in context seeing Jesus himself was a Pharisee of the house of Hillel and taught the exact same things as Hillel did except for marriage in which he went with the teaching of Shammai instead. The religion you keep promoting was most likely never taught by the Nazarene and is pagan in origin and practice as he would've been a Pharisee and well versed in Mishnah.

The Fascinate, Stimulate, Complicate, Suffocate, is exactly what I’ve seen in all those I know who practice it. If you do not have an intimate relationship with Jesus, it could be dangerously easy to get enticed by it. I’ve been to Hebrew Roots feasts celebrations and I can see the appeal and the draw of it. It’s fun, people are kind for the most until they discover you disagree with them, there’s messianic music, dancing, food and community. it’s a party..who doesn’t love a party. But like Dr. Brown was saying (in a nut shell) without the worship and devotion to Jesus alone as the focal point; they get lost in fascination with the Jewish traditions, then are stimulated in that it ties their emotions into it; and like I’ve experienced with in Laws, they complicate family relationships because of differences in religious ordinances and get suffocated and carried away by exalting the Jewishness of it all above Jesus. They really seem to have come to look at Jesus as if He’s holding the Law with both hands above His head, it shining in glory with him exclaiming ‘I kept it perfectly and this is what you must do to please me and the Father’ although they express they keep it “to the best of their ability” and what they lack they say is where grace comes in. It seems as if what Christian’s have been accused of by them “abusing grace” or “grace as a license to sin” is the very thing they are unknowingly doing. The pride of being favored because of their devotion to practice Jewish traditions/keep the Law has blinded them to the fact that they are fallen short and have kept nothing. I know this may not speak to all those in Torahism, but it does for the majority of those I know.

So apparently Jesus was useful only to save the animals from sacrifice and keep us from stoning sinners! How nice of Jesus to remove the more unsavory parts of the Torah. And he died on the bloody Roman (pagan) cross just for the animals and to save the sinners from stoning? Otherwise, those who love him are not those who pick up their cross (where is that in the Torah?) And follow him but those who keep the Torah festivals. So the Orthodox Jews already love him more than the born again gentiles and are already saved without him.

The interpretation that the law was done away with in Acts 15 unravels when understood in its social/ cultural context.
The council was convened to consider whether circumcision and/or keeping the law was necessary for salvation. Subsequently, this was the yoke which Peter spoke of- that keeping the law for the sake of salvation was something neither he nor his forefathers were ever able to bear. For we know that God’s law in and of itself is not burdensome (Deut 30:11-14, Pslam 19, 119, 1 John 5:3) and is actually for our good (Deut 4:40, 5:29, 6:18, 6:24, 10:13). But keeping it to earn salvation is impossible and only through Christ do we have it! 🙌🏼
So with the focus being this salvational issue, after much debating James finally declared for Gentiles to:
“abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.”
These 4 decrees are not independent of each other and are actually interconnected. At the time, it was a common Greco Roman cultural belief that it was acceptable to worship multiple gods. Many gentiles still believed they could just integrate Jesus with their other gods and still go to their pagan temples.
The satanic worship at these temples was set up to quite literally bond/ yoke the devotee to other gods. They would kill/ strangle an animal (the sacrifice), eat and drink it’s blood (the covenantal meal) and then have sex with a cult prostitute who was believed to have a direct connection/ embodiment of the god/ goddess. It was a sexually driven, idolatrous, sacrificial event.
This kind of sexual immorality went beyond just pre/ extramarital sex. Cult harlotry is, was and always will be a big no-no and a salvational issue. This was the ultimate type of defilement, adultery and betrayal which God from the beginning has always hated and spoke out against. This would and can still cause one to lose their salvation!
So for gentiles who were just beginning to turn to the one true God (Acts 15:19), keeping these 4 decrees was the most basic and necessary action in beginning their walk. James furthermore suggests they would continue to grow in learning God’s ways as “the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.” (Acts 15:2
For a deeper scriptural, cultural and linguistic dive into this I recommend the book, “The Lifting of the Veil,” by Avram Yeshoshua. You can also find it for free at seedofabraham . com

Paul was a Pharisee of Pharisees who actually tried to keep those Rabinnic commandments as well as the Torah of Moses. @@qw2ps4Paul is building the legal case for why those who are in Christ by faith, even non-Jewish people (Gentiles), become descendants of Abraham and receive the blessings promised to him. In the previous verse, Paul said that even a human covenant, or "will," cannot be changed once it has been ratified. When that kind of document was officially approved by all parties and legally filed, it was irrevocable.
Now Paul clarifies the point of his illustration. God made a covenant with Abraham. That covenant was a one-way promise by God to bless Abraham and his offspring in specific ways. The Judaizers were apparently telling people that the law replaced God's covenant promises to Abraham (Galatians 2:4). Paul soundly rejects that idea. Although the law was instituted 430 years later, under Moses, it did not void out God's previous promises to Abraham. Those remain in effect, because God's covenant cannot be changed.
In the last verse, Paul made a point of indicating that this promise was given to Abraham's "singular" offspring, not a "plural" group or collection of many. Judaism had always believed that the promises given to Abraham would one day be fulfilled in a single person-a Messiah.
Jesus, as Abraham's ultimate offspring, received those covenant promises made to Abraham. That's why all who trust in Christ's death for their sin-placing their own lives "in Christ"-also receive the blessings promised to Abraham's offspring. We receive whatever Jesus is entitled to because we have been given credit for His sinless life, and He has taken the penalty for our sinfulness.

This is why the early Jewish Christian’s believed Jesus could conquer Rome, being a natural descendant of David through Solomon, as Jews were expecting of the messiah. Rome granted Jesus the title “king of the Jews” in a court of law, but only while he was nailed to a cross, to mock the Davidic throne. In response to the argument at 11:57, here’s a citation from the article titled ‘Supplement to Contra Brown’:
    IV. 33. Page 267
Brown reviews his arguments from volume 2 against one of the primary Jewish objections. The Jewish objection runs as follows: “According to the Law (Deuteronomy 13,) Jesus was a false prophet, because he taught us to follow other gods (namely, the trinity, including the god Jesus), gods our fathers have never known or worshipped. This makes all his miracles utterly meaningless.”
Brown responds to this objection with the claim that everything that Jesus did was for the glory of the Father. Brown argues that Jesus points people to the God of Israel.
If this were true, then Brown and other Christian missionaries would not attempt to convert Jews to their faith. If the entire goal of Jesus is to point people to the God of Israel, then people who already worship the God of Israel do not need him. Brown and the Christian missionaries are not happy with a heart that is completely and totally devoted to the God of Israel. They want the adoration, love and reverence that is devoted to the God of Israel to be redirected towards Jesus.
Jesus does not point people TO the God of Israel. Jesus points people AWAY from the God of Israel.

He is the only atonement, the only way to Himself. God is not exactly like us and trying to describe him in _only_ human terms will not work. He was able to be in Heaven as Spirit and as human man on earth at the same time. We can't do that. "The nations (ethnos) will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it."
These 'nations' are not 'pagan/gentile'. This is the new earth where only holiness dwells.
      Revelation 21:27
"Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."
Only those who's names are written in the Lamb's book of life, i.e., not foreigners, will enter.
Gentiles are foreigners, those not known by God. Ephesians 2 says that those in Christ _are no longer foreigners (gentiles)._
Some people want to disinherit us from our inheritance in Christ. They want to tell us we are gentiles even though we are told that in Christ we are no longer foreigners. We are now fellow citizens. Stay strong in the Lord. Blessings

Dr. Brown's response was perfect and a true example of Defending the Biblical Roots of Christianity. But there is little to NO talk about what the other side of that is. I won’t get into specifics, but there are thousands of examples if you are curious. Hello, Yosef. For those who used to be under the law of Moses, breaking that law was sinful, of course. But sin is much bigger than that! In fact, "sin was in the world _before_ the law was given" (Rom. 5:13, see Gen 4:7; 13:13; 18:20; 39:9). So if we merely define sin as a transgression of the Law of Moses, then Adam and Eve never sinned, because they did not break any of the Mosaic commands.

@@Yosef_Morrison Hi, Yosef! The "laws" of God that define right and wrong were true long before the Law of Moses was given. So when God commands us not to murder today, it’s not because of the Ten Commandments. It’s because of His universal principle against murder. Long before God gave Israel the Law of Moses, Cain was judged for murdering his brother Abel (Gen 4:8-16). Same thing with sexual morality. Under the New Covenant, God doesn’t forbid adultery because of the Ten Commandments. Unfaithfulness and sexual immorality were wrong long before the Law of Moses, as we see, for example, in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen 18-19). Because mankind was made in God’s image, we have a “compass” of objective morality, so to speak, baked into our human DNA. And under the New Covenant, God's law is written on our hearts. RLS

It was foretold that Jesus would come and magnify the law and make it holy and honorable. After such great example we are given and are told to emulate why would any person who believes the truth turn to twisted ways. If you dig tho you’ll see the apostasy of Christianity was predicted by Yah. I don’t know what God y’all worship but the God I worship said every word that comes from him is Good. I worship a God who does not judge his people for not accepting the chief cornerstone then turns around and shows us the way just to adopt a bunch of children who refuse the truth that was already there in the beginning. That would not be justice thaf would be scales of unequal weight. We are called to follow every word of God through the spirit just like his son showed us how. There is only one people of God. Some will just be called least and will serve those who hang on to every word of the father and son. Anyways, I'm a neutralist, and I'm still not convinced Christianity's arguments stand the test of scrutiny when measured against the claims of the Tanakh/Torah and the Jews.

My Torah sister would say Jesus and his disciples kept all Torah laws. Is this not true? She is really coming down hard on our family about this

Jesus would have had to keep all of the laws because he came to save his own people (the Jews). They would not have accepted Him at all if he hadn’t. Most of them didn’t anyway because he came against the laws that were tacked on to the original…..man made laws. He then graciously extended salvation to the gentiles. Gentiles were never under the law of Moses and Jesus didn’t require it. The verses commanding people to keep the law were directed at the Jews.
Paul was chosen to be an apostle to the Gentiles and declared the New Covenant to them. Not a re-newed one.
You can find this in Hebrews 7:11-28. Jesus came through the line of Judah not from the tribe of Levi who were the priests under the Mosaic Law. When a new high priest comes into power, the laws are subject to change.
Your Torah sister cannot keep all of the laws, it’s not possible. Jesus was the “once for all” atonement for sin,so the animal sacrifices were done away with. There is no temple or Levitical priesthood to do the duties of this sacrifice. These were LAWS and if they cannot be kept then she is mistaken. James 2:10. She may tell you that you just have to do the best you can. Can you see God saying something like this? I was in Torahism for three plus years and have been told to do the best I can. Didn’t ring true then and sure doesn’t now. Read all of Galatians and Hebrews.
In short, Jesus was a Jew, but we are Gentiles and never were under the mosaic laws to begin with. hth

@@Gigi2four The spirit that is behind this post confesses "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh".
I am forever praising and believing Jesus is the Christ, and this is pleasing to God.
