I pulled #75 lbs of various rock and agate boulders from San Juan this week. Lots of different Jasper, agates, unakite, porphyrite granite, pudding stone, and a whole lot more. I went to Forth of July Beach, South Beach National Park, and I also did West Beach at Deception Pass before I hit San Juan. Every place I went filled my rock bag with 25 lbs of rock. I’ve been doing this for years and I’d say San Juan and all the islands are my favorite place in Washington to Rock hunt with the huge variety. I’m from Oregon and live in Springfield. I have my spots not to far from my house where my son and I mine gems out of the mountain cliff, and at a cool hiking trail park near my house. I live right next to the mountains off the 126 hwy that goes up to the McKenzie River. I’m surrounded by the McKenzie River and Willamette River. Some of the rocks from the Islands are not indigenous to the islands that have came in by glaciers from Canada. One in particular you can find at West Beach at Deception pass is called Jack Ass Conglomerate which is pretty rare. A lot of the rocks are igneous rocks.

We came across this video of yours, liked it so we subscribe to your channel. We are Disabled ♿ ♿ ♿ Seniors with OUR 47yr old SON who is a Tetraplegic. We recently became RockHound and Lapidary. Anyways we just RockHound around our neighborhood and areas we can trek that will allow our electric wheelchairs to operate. Now just to get ready is an adventure in itself-hehehehe. So, we mainly purchase Rocks but have to watch our budget-due to Retirement income being fixed. I copied and pasted from first video we watched.

new to rockhounding. @ 2:10 I've been finding lots of pieces that size of same looking stuff out near ebey's landing. Was told it was brecciated green jasper? Any chance you do identifications?

Hi, I don't know much about rock ID or geology so take this with a grain of salt, but that particular rock didn't feel like jasper to me. It may have had a little bit mixed in with other materials, but from what I know a pure brecciated green jasper will have a waxy feeling to it. The breccia will look like the rock has been smashed and glued back together with another material, usually quartz or agate.

@@BlazeGoesRockhoundingI have a cool piece of that Green Breciated Jasper I found yesterday at Deception Pass on West Beach. It was actually the first rock I had found when I got there.
