I'll be playing for a friend today in hospice with late-stage brain cancer. No better way to consecrate the new year of handpanning than to sit in that sacred space and offer music as comfort.
That is a wonderful gift to share. My wife is in late stage Alzheimer’s and that is one of the reasons I’m learning the handpan. I have singing bowls/gong/chimes to help with hospice when the time comes❤
Happy New Year to you Amy and the community you have created this month. Really looking forwards to getting stuck in this month and developing some new skills and abilities. A huge gratitude to Amy for her teaching and creating this Handpanuary community, together we will grow. 🤗
Ms. Naylor, happy new year! I'm Rix and it's nice to almost meet you. I say this due to my adopting you as my first panstructor/pan-sensei gives me the inkling to introduce myself. I've improved considerably since I found you, so here's the first of many thank yous!
Happy new year Amy, I'm really happy to start this year with the Handpan challenge performed by and with you. Thank's a lot for this big gift enspiring the soul and the heart. All the best from the stormy Netherlands (actual) and Germany from Karin
Happy New Year, Amy! 🥳🥂🍀 I am excited about what you are coming up with in Hanpanuary 😃 Thank you for all your efforts on creating this journey. I am pretty curious and grateful 🙏 ❤
I am super excited and I am looking foward to all of your Handpanuary videos! Thank you so much Amy - You are such an inspiration! 🥰 I wish you a happy new year and all the best for 2025!
Girl I know you're right that things get less exciting - I'm not there yet ! Haha, I am SO GRATEFUL for Handpanuary and looking forward to it. My commitment is to a) be PRESENT with my pan regardless of the quality of my playing and b) to accept the progression or lack of that is made over 30 days! I'm so in. In this with you! Thank you for offering this! Lots of love to you Happy New Year to you and yours Amy! xox 💞
Happy New Year to you Amy, and all you handpan players, from a new handpan enthusiast in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island! I'm enjoying getting to know my beautiful new Meridian D Kurd and I look foward to digging into Amy's terrific videos. I've studied and played music all my life, but the handpan is completely new to me! As a multi-instrumentalist, singer and sound engineer, the handpan has already enriched what I do by adding a whole new world of possibilities. I'm already thinking about my next Meridian handpan! Cheers and play, play, play!

Hello over the pond! I still haven’t purchased a hand pan, but want to ask you…I want one with a nice pleasant tone that I can have a wide array of playability. Many people have suggested many keys, and I’m a Libra so I’m Having a tough time making a decision, since this is the only one I’ll probably be purchasing. I’m 67 and haven’t played piano since the 90s due to a severed finger. It’s reattached, but can’t hit those keys on the piano or a keyboard for that matter. I thought a hand pan would be something I can enjoy and hone my talents, to possibly play at local events or get togethers with family. What key would you suggest because I see you have many and are an expert at this.

To follow tutorials easily and have versatility when jamming with other musicians, I recommend the D Kurd scale
Could this learning process also be complete on a tongue drum?
