Pongo & Perdita might be the top contenders for best Disney parents: 1) They tried to let the humans handle it, but immediately took matters into their own hands (so to speak) when that didn’t work, and through the use of the Twilight Bark, they managed to find out where their kids were within a few hours. 2) As soon as they found out, they immediately left the safety of their home and their humans to go get their puppies back. 3) They braved the winter wilderness, almost got hit by a vehicle, and crossed icy river rapids to get to their puppies, only to immediately jump through a glass window and get in a fight with two armed humans to protect them (and as Jasper stated, they fought dirty to do so). 4) When they found out they now had 84 (technically) homeless puppies along with their own, their immediate response was to take them all home with them no matter what. 5) They then trekked back through the wilderness (with a little help from their friends), through a blizzard, from Suffolk (the Great Dane said that’s where they were) to London (which according to Google is 81 miles) with 99 puppies in tow, all while being chased by a psycho who wanted to turn them into coats, and managed to get them all home completely unharmed, just covered in soot. 😊 Pongo & Perdita. Best Disney parents, hands down. ❤
Nice little detail: Coco and Prissy were two of the dogs that Pongo wrote off as "too fancy" and "too weird", and yet they still were among the first to help get the twilight bark going, no hesitation whatsoever.
To be fair, he didn't write them off as individuals. Rather, he decided that their humans wouldn't make good romantic partners for his human. Still judging by their apperances, but not as offensive.
Ya know you make a great point, I once said judge Clyde frollo was the scariest to me because people like that actually exist, but I had completely forgotten that people like cruella exist too.. my point I guess is if you compare Disney villains while scar, and ursela are scary Clayton, frollo and cruella are scarier because they represent the worst in people.. I said this to my family once and they told me I put way too much thought into it..
Dalmatians are known to have big litters. My own Perdita came from a litter of 16 pups. Her mother Coco (Liver spotted.) and her father Triton (Black spotted.) Were first time parents. There was a dalmatian here in Australia named Melody, who had 19 pups! (World record holder.) Coco gave birth to Perdi and her younger sister yet had to have a c section to get the rest of the litter out safely. Thankfully, they all survived and all went to amazing loving homes. (I was asked to take the remaining 3 pups as the owners were moving, I told them, I'll take the bossiest pup out of the trio... and my Perdi is the sweetest, most gentle girl to everyone. :D )
SAME! I literally couldn't even watch this film when I was a kid. Thankfully, I made the choice to give this film another chance. Same with tons of other animated films I was traumatized of when I was much younger...
I once read an article about this movie that said Pongo & Perdita had 8 boy puppies (Lucky, Patch, Rolly, Freckles, Fidget, Dipstick, Whizzer, & Thunder) & 7 girl puppies (Penny, Pepper, Jewel, Two-Tone, Cadpid, Purdy, & Spotty).
Ooo, for dog-centric animated movies - “Balto”, “Oliver and Company” (okay technically the main character is a cat, but there’s way more dogs in the cast and just one cat), “Wolfwalkers” (okay this one’s a stretch, it’s more of a “people who can turn into wolves” movie, but it’s a truly gorgeous animated film), and for non-animated I gotta recommend a classic from my childhood that I recently saw another reactor watch, “Homeward Bound”! And for an animated film that centers around a different animal, “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” is my all-time favorite film, it’s an animated Dreamworks movie about horses.
Two things. In case it wasn't obvious, Lucky is the puppy who wasn't breathing at birth but was saved by Roger. 15:12 This is heartbreaking. The voice actress brought this to life. The only way I can describe it is chilling. Her wails are so unbelievably convincing. The voice actress did an amazing job. It's no wonder she was put in so many films.

I watched this movie with 3 kids I was babysitting at the time and you wouldn't believe the stress they went through during the escape out of Dinsford all the way to the car chase. When Lucky almost flung out of the truck one of the kids even yelled and the oldest was even saying: 'that poor truck driver' XD They loved the movie to the core, don't get me wrong. Lets say the investment was there from frame one!
Fun Fact: This was the first Disney film which used the Xerox process to copy the animator’s drawings directly onto the animation cels (hence the “sketchy” look of the animation). ✍️🖨️ This process would continue to be used until 1990, when Disney started using computer technology to color the animator’s drawings. The first Disney film to use this method was The Rescuers Down Under (criminally underrated)!
Hey Tim, if you’re interested there’s a book this movie is based on by Dorothy “Dotie” Smith. Where she got the idea after at a party a friend said that her Dalmatians would look good as a fur coat which would serve as the inspiration for the book. There’s also a tie in book by Serena Valentino that goes into Cruella’s backstory and answers a lot of your questions.
All these classics you've been giving us lately! ❤ Would you consider "Oliver and Company?" Underrated with some of Disney's best, yet forgotten, songs. 😁

This is a really fun Disney movie. It has some great animation and some memorable moments. Even the villain is really good. Cruella De Vil is pretty much an iconic Disney villain by this point.
I’ve always loved watching this film as a kid. In fact, 101 Dalmatians is the film that got me into liking dogs. I enjoy the all characters, including the “devil woman,” Cruella De Vil. The music is good too, most notably Cruella’s song, which is very catchy imo.
As a dog owner myself, this is one of my favorites growing up and still is. There's something cute about 101 Dalmatians that brings out my appreciation for dogs and how they're so sympathetic and men's best friend. There's also a fun major side quest in Kingdom Hearts 1 where you go around the different Disney and original Kingdom Hearts worlds finding all 99 puppies for rewards (and seeing a family of puppies reunited happily).
Beside Lady & The Tramp as one of my favorite Walt Disney animated film, I always loved 101 Dalmatians very much because of its intense amazing story, wonderful characters, the scores within the film including great animation as well.
I've always loved this movie and have been excited for your reaction. The puppies are so cute. I recommend the movie Two Brothers about tigers. It's not animated, but it's really well done and nobody has reacted to it yet. It's an actual movie and not a documentary.
Yeah, this is the classic. You gotta watch the other ones too. Like just straight in a row the other ones I’ve mentioned as well. I did mention this one long time ago too and another one, but it was kind of like this one and I know that there was 101 like the live action one and then there was like 102 and then I know that there was 101 Dalmatians two. Patches London adventure.
PS you should definitely think about some of my other options even though it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the ones I’ve just mentioned but mostly because of my mother as well. She loved 101 Dalmatians that’s why whenever she was like really little because she grew up with this movie, she always wanted to Dalmatian or like something that would make her say aw like a dog and that’s why we got Sunday even though Sunday is cute she’s like the coolest, but she’s not as cool as hacker kitty though or as hello Kitty, hello Kitty was wearing like a DD‘s outfit but anyway that’s beyond the point and if you don’t know who I’m talking about then I think they made a doodle bop movie You should definitely. that one too, and the other ones I’ve mentioned like the live action, Clifford, the big red dog and Ozzie as well plus the other ones I mentioned, including the many adventures of Winnie the Pooh and tigger tooo and the book of Pooh stories from the heart I know that you would really like that one too
I love 101 Dalmatians 🖤🤍 this such a Disney classic 👍👍 it has a great story, Spectacular animation, a whole bunch of great characters and a really evil and scary iconic villain of Cruella De Vil 😁👍 loved your reaction Tim 😊❤️❤️

The show that the puppies watch on TV is Thurnderbolt, and the concept would be re-used for the second animated movie (I loved that movie, I really liked the dinamic between Thurnderbolt and Patch) but originally, it was supposed to be Rin-tin-tin, wich was a real show starring a german sheppard. In fact, I reckon it was The Show that made the breed popular, back in the day. (same as Lassie did for the Rough Collie and Beethoben for the Saint Bernard) Rin-Tin-Tin use to be a meme (for the time) and in some movies you can catch references, like, the show "Komissar Rex" was basically the remake with the same concept only on modern times with a police dog... nowourdays it seems only old cinema fans remember Rin-Tin-Tin and Lassie, with Beethoben starting to be forgotten Man I would love to see a new animated show with Rin-tin-tin or Rex, and if they could do like, a crossover with Lassie that would be great! Yes! After Sleeping Beauty (which ate up masses of time and money -- to beautiful result, certainly), they were looking for different possibilities. The then-new Xerox process saved them from having to hand-draw every cel, with all those dogs and spots in every scene. It's connected to the different more "stylized" look of the picture, not trying to look real.
An interesting fact, but not necessarily a happy one: after the 1991 version of this movie came out, parents went out to buy dalmatian puppies for their children in droves. It went from 8000 dalmatian puppies sold in a year to 42,000 puppies sold after the movie came out. The American Kennel Club called it Dalmatian Syndrome. However, Dalmatians can be a challenging dog to own. They are high energy and need both physical and mental stimulation, they can be snappy and unpredictable with kids, and they are big enough to be a nightmare if they aren't properly trained. Within the next few years, the number of Dalmatians at shelters and rescue organizations more than doubled. Disney received a LOT of backlash over it, and they made adopting animals and responsible pet ownership a major theme in 102 Dalmatians.
yes theres oliver and company, definitely check out, great dog movie, also if youre interested in live action, homeward bound is great, also a tear jerker
Walt Disney hated the animation on this movie but during his last day at the studio he forgave Ken Andersson the art director of 101 dalmatians Ps this is number 3 on my top 10 Disney movie
You should check out ‘The Last Unicorn’! It is a truly moving and beautiful animated movie that so few people talk about! I would love to see you think over some of the more thought provoking moments.
Its well agreed by most fans that Cruella is the worst Disney Villain just for her motivation being murdering puppies for coats. What's hilarious is that this has become so prominent you get scenes like the one in the musical Twisted by the theatre troupe Starkid where when all the villains of Disney come together in a song to justify their actions and Cruella comes out they all just start yelling at her about how effed up that is. In Jafar's words "Why would you do that?!"
Cruella is essentially a caricature of the actress Tallulah Bankhead, famous for her love of furs. It must have seemed obvious to the Disney team that they should do that, given that they were adapting a novel about a character with a fur obsession; and certainly most adults when the film came out would have recognized the Tallulah reference, even as it went over the heads of children like me. Alfred Hitchcock also had some fun with this actress' widely recognized association with furs: in his movie Lifeboat, we first see her in an isolated lifeboat (with several other survivors in it) somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, wearing a fur coat.
As amusing as the new Cruella film is, I really can't see that Cruella as this original one. The characters are simply too different. It's part of a long series of films that try to rehabilitate villains.
I stand with the animals in this movie. Who would want to harm those innocent little Dalmatian puppies?!?!?!?!?! I hate Cruella. She deserves to be locked up for eternity

This movie is literally about community. The animals all come together to help them despite being total strangers.
Fact: this is the first Disney movie that openly showed two human characters flirting (before it, only animal characters were showed doing so)
Pongo & Perdita might be the top contenders for best Disney parents:
1) They tried to let the humans handle it, but immediately took matters into their own hands (so to speak) when that didn’t work, and through the use of the Twilight Bark, they managed to find out where their kids were within a few hours.

I second this list. Plus Balto and Oliver and Company.
38:46 the same reaction I make when Cruella made that look with her eyes in that animation
This came out when I was a very small child. So it is my original horror film.
Oliver and company (a retelling of Oliver Twist with animals) is a good movie. It came out in 1988
This is one my favorite Disney movies
Love this movie. Another fun movie you should also check out is “The Aristocats” (1970) . My childhood favorite movie
Thanks, Timothee! 😊
Awesome reaction of my favorite Disney movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
This was the first Disney film to use xerography which allowed them to print all the spots on the dalmatians
My favorite movie when I was a kid
Did you notice that was Joc that had a cameo during the dogs barking scene
yes theres oliver and company, definitely check out, great dog movie, also if youre interested in live action, homeward bound is great, also a tear jerker
I Do Love To See You Reaction To
Ponyo 2008 Studio Ghibli Film
I love cruella she is the most iconic villain in my opinion❤
another great movie with dogs is lady and the tramp from 1955, I highly recommend it
Fun fact : Joe the cook and Jock the dog have the same voice actor than Pongo in the french version
You sould check out homeward bound it’s a classic and a tear dripper
Walt Disney hated the animation on this movie but during his last day at the studio he forgave Ken Andersson the art director of 101 dalmatians
Ps this is number 3 on my top 10 Disney movie
One of Walt’s classics during the Bronze Age!
My headcanon is that Lucky was the puppy who was resuscitated. Hence the name and why his behavior is a little off compared to his siblings.
Animated movies about dogs? Balto and All dogs go to heaven. And Pets.
Another one you should check out is The Fox and the Hound
There is an animated sequel to this movie too.
As amusing as the new Cruella film is, I really can't see that Cruella as this original one. The characters are simply too different. It's part of a long series of films that try to rehabilitate villains.
Check out the sequel to this one Patch's London's adventure. And yes check out Live action Cruella 🙃
Excellent
I stand with the animals in this movie. Who would want to harm those innocent little Dalmatian puppies?!?!?!?!?! I hate Cruella. She deserves to be locked up for eternity
Yay I've been waiting for this one ❤
I'm not even joking when I say this but part of my dream last night included this movie, and I just opened UA-cam and saw this lol.
Cruella is with Scar my favorite Villain Of All Time❤
Ah yes, my favorite Disney movie
