Hi. I had a small music shop in Turkey . I used to sell cassettes. I'm 53 now. They were the most important famous people I met in my life. They were so normal, sincere and gentlemen. No complimants or anything. We talked for about 20-25 minutes and drank tea with Robert. After the concert was finished I tried to learn where do they would stay @t day I waited by the hotel. When Robert went out I kissed him and hugged him. He Asked me about the previous day's concert performance.I said time passed so fast like a dream. I said I came about 1000 km from my town to İstanbul for the concert he said please drive carrefully. I took LZ 3 LP which I've bought in İtaly when I was 21 y.o. in 1983 and they signed the LP's.While I was waiting for Jimmy, he was shopping at a peddler who sold cheap imitation watches near the hotel street. I talked to him for 5-6 minutes. He was also gentleman, sincere like a normal person. I loved them more because they are the most important band of history (according to me) and so normal people like a teacher or friends.
Lucky me. I've also met Michael Lee. RİP Michael.Lee and Bonzo. You're the greatest drummers of all.

But as we the viewers watch this years later (NOW) knowing what happened shortly after, and how much more famous and legendary he and his name alone would become, You can't help but think how lucky they really were to be right there with the man when he was still alive. According to Billy Connolly, he said John liked him and agreed to the interview then the day of the show he had “a few” before the show and fell asleep in the green room, then changed his mind when he finally woke up. Connolly convinced him to stay with the idea he’d ask John some really pompous question and all John had to do was shrug his shoulders and then that’d be it, Connolly could still say he had him on the show even if it was, to some, a bad interview

In every image I've seen of Bonham he looks at least 10 years older than his official age. It was consistent across Zep's entire career. At times, when he was very overweight, he looked 15 years older.

Just so sad to think he would be dead in about 3 months. I wonder if anyone ever said to John, "We really wish you would re-evaluate your drinking because we love you and we don't want to see you die." I know it was so hard because he was a big man and so many people around him were wasted as well, and people did not understand alcoholism like we do now.

I've heard many technical drummers from Peary to Bruford to Mike Portnoy etc.
None have made me "feel" the way Bonzo did.
His playing felt less percussive, more musical.
It's as if he was playing it like a guitar.
He plays a certain way which is very unorthodox.
He's managed to combine the delicate articulation and vocabulary of jazz with primal drumming.
Not just his playing style, or his knowledge of the groove, but the sheer sound of his drumkit itself.
I've never heard a drummer, atleast from the 70s, whose drums sounded like that.
Even drums in most 80s thrash bands were quieter compared to Bonham.
Gar Samuelson was the only drummer who gave the similar vibe Bonham did.
