  • On March 29, 2023 a strong arctic cold front blasted across NY State. Ahead of the front, clear skies and SW winds combined with the late March sun angle allowed temps to rise into the mid-50s. As the strong front pushed into this well mixed airmass, it forced a line of low topped convection. Initially starting as rain, dynamic cooling combined with cold air advection behind the front quickly changed rain to heavy snow. These squalls only lasted about 1 hour, but they produced some pretty intense conditions complete with bursts of heavy snow, wind gusts of over 40 mph, and very poor visibility.

Hi everyone! Here is the reuploaded video of the event. It should be much clearer and smoother now!

Another fun to watch video! I particularly liked 2:00 and 2:37. Happily Utah's snow season is phenomenal this year. It's breaking all kinds of records. Alta ski resort has gotten over 800 inches this year and we have a winter storm warning for the next three days.😄 Stay warm!

Yes the western US has been very active this year! Great for the drought you guys have been in! And thankyou! I really enjoyed filming this one, though by the end of it I was a bit cold. haha.

I just found your channel, and i really hope you continue to cover local storms!! i grew up in the albany area and in a month ill be living in nyc. ive always been fascinated by the weather especially as it becomes more volatile. so your channel is kind of like a window to a little piece of home for me. maybe its strange but i really appreciate this sort of archive for a lot of these forgotten storms ive lived through in recent years

I don't think that's strange at all and I'm glad you're enjoying the content I put up! I still live in NY state so yes, I absolutely will continue to document storms in the area. This summer I've been in Norman Oklahoma for the past couple of months, so the past couple videos and the next few I'm planning to upload will be storms in the plains. But once I'm back in NY the local content will come back!

@@storm12weather I completely understand that! That part of the country has much larger storms than I’ve ever seen around here and honestly, more interesting to watch most of the time :) I look forward to seeing your perspective from wherever you might be

@clairef5179 Certainly! I'm actually out here for a research program but I can't help but storm chase in my free time! Besides the last 2 videos, I probably have enough footage for about 5 more videos. I'll be heading back home this week and I'll get a few more up in my free time. 😁
