- Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme didn't grow up in a drag racing family, but that didn't stop him from becoming one of the greatest NHRA drivers of all time.
The Hall of Famer visits the Racers Roundtable to talk about becoming the first Funny Car racer to hit 250 mph on a quarter-mile, how he got "totally hooked" on drag racing, details about the Mickey Thompson-run drag strip where he earned his first paycheck and more!
Prudhomme is a four-time Funny Car champion.

When I was a kid.. Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme was the coolest and my favorite driver and the yellow Snake funny car my favorite car...Not that I did not like the others I did...I had all Hot Wheels and Monogram models and of course the yellow Snake Barracuda... and still remember making the blue spark plug wires out blue tubing for it..good days...

I met Don in the pits back in ‘85 at Raceway Park NJ, my girl was wearing a mopar t-shirt he looked at her and said “ I wish I had a mopar like that at home” we both chuckled and moved on.
Don the snake .made my childhood great ...Hot Wheels .He got me into the car culture.Thank you Sir.

As a kid of the 70's in england 🇬🇧 with drag racing parents spending most weekends at santa pod , Don prudomme was an absolute super star.
I can only imagine what positivity Don sent out to teenage, mixed race americans .
Dream and acheive, it seemed had all the best equipment, a beautiful wife and a handfull of proper quality sponsors.
Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme was a true icon, not just in drag racing, but in how he inspired so many, including fans across the globe. His success, determination, and the way he carried himself left a powerful impact, especially for young people dreaming big, no matter where they were from. It's great to hear how much of an influence he had on you and so many others. His legacy continues to inspire! 🏁

I would’ve LOVED to have sat in on this round table! I wouldn’t say a word, but would definitely have a deer-in-the headlights look on my face lol. BTW Don is a 4X NHRA World Champion. Not 3.
We felt like a deer-in-the headlights too when we met them! Seeing all those icons in the same room sharing incredible stories was so cool!
snake is the man. NHRA should have listened to him after Scott's accident. Take away the huge fuel pumps

Hi Don 👋 This is Rick Keller ! I meet you in the mid 60's at Lion's Drag Strip by 1970 I was gone in the Army ! When I got out I wen't to work in Northridge Cali. On Bahama st. For Dick Landy DLI. Right nextdoor to you and traveled all over the road with You And Dick and you had a young man named Bobby Brent . Your Funny Car Said Army on the side of it . I will never forget those Day's and eating at Sizzler's with You Sir ! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🙏
