    Great video, its about time that fire has some pov type show. Nice to not see a ton of keyboard heros going nuts on the comment board. Its easy to critique the situation sitting in clean air from your comfortable home. In some sitations it is necessary to not don a ba untill all the hose is laid in. Great editing, I hope to see more.

    So much for property conservation, When the back sliding door was intact. Could have easily opened it. Instead of taking hook and playing baseball with the frame. Had plenty of other windows out. When were ladders used as battering rams to bust windows?? Wow

      Always, always take out window frames, don't want a guy who is lost/disoriented to hit the frame and turn and go the other way, make the opening as big as possible, this is why he was swinging at the frame to dislodge from its base, and ladders have been used for venting for centuries,

      Andre Morales these guys give times out of their day. This was. a morning call and they are volunteers. Maybe they were about to shave and the call came? We don't know the situation, so don't criticize. Being a volunteer myself, i have been in that situation many times. Also, maybe they get taught different ways to do things. everyone has their own way, and thats just how it is. the window busting? yeah i would've done that, and so would many departments. Maybe you wouldn't, again thats your thing. You do you, they'll do them

    • @K1ngDre-DMZ
      @K1ngDre-DMZ 7 років тому +1

      Jack Angermeier so what you are telling me is a career firefighter doesn't give time? They don't shave or take showers and get calls and still have to rush to get into their gear and run? There are standards for National training and how to do things the correct way. If what you are telling me is "go ahead and do things the way you want" is okay, then that's how people get hurt and killed

    Vertical Venting. No smoke showing in the second floor but they do it anyway. The holes he made in the ceiling were the size of quarters. This whole process risks fire fighters lives and accomplishes nothing.

    When/if any of these cowboys go through a full-time professional academy the first thing they will learn is safety and wearing PPE. The fire got put out, but a lot of work to for these guys to get squared away. Yahoos with melted bourkes and helmets that were put in an over at 400 to look cool? Come on, lets not pretend. Literally first thing you learn first day at professional academy is NO running on the fireground. I've seen a couple of these videos and more to watch, my opinion is its a bunch of young and energetic guys trying to do the right thing, but trying to look cool is more important.

      +Michael Currie These guys are an extremely busy department, which is why they were chosen for this series. Although I agree with some of the things you wrote, I am sure they have different SOPs/have maybe unfortunately become a bit cavalier about their jobs. Stop hating on volunteers mr. I just went to an academy.

      As a volunteer, I cringed at the way every window in the house was broken. It's unnecessary and counterproductive. If you ventilate thoughtfully and strategically, you can control the flow path and minimize damage - especially if you use a PPV fan.

      1.fuck no running, if you have a fully involved structure. Fire you better move like someone’s life depends on it.
      2. They can replace a door out of everything being destroyed by the fire a door will be the last thing a home owner cares about.
      2. Only people that think it’s a good idea to put a ladder next to a window before you vent then reposition it are those that haven’t been to many of any fires. A ladder is a tool and taking a window out with the ladder allows. You to see conditions in that room before you’re face to face with it on a vulnerable ladder position. Is it the best option? No does it get the job done? Yes.

    When you clearing the glass from the window are you not essentially allowing oxygen to potentially alter the environment within the structure? is this a necessary risk to create a point of egress?

    • @IntoTheSmokeTV
      @IntoTheSmokeTV  3 роки тому +1

      While opening up windows introduces oxygen it also allows for toxic and super heated gasses to escape from the structure. Venting windows should always be done in conjunction with a hoselone to "counter" the introduction of the oxygen to the fire.

    Your scba works really well when its not even hooked up and the caps are still on the bottle. UNBELIEVABLE!!! seems like every dept in this county needs to go back to the fire academy and learn how to do the job. Oh yeah, that half ass melted helmet you wore into the training tower trying to melt looks real cool too..... complete fools.

    • @ajeschelweck362
      @ajeschelweck362 9 років тому +3

      +hfd88 What's UNBELIEVABLE is you obviously are not up to date on the current equipment in the industry. Which then would also lead me to the conclusion that you must not train that much either. I think you may need to go back to the academy for a few refresher courses of your own! IMO. The SCBAs this department uses are Scott's NXG2 model which have been out for a little over 10 years now. Those little caps you saw were covers for the fill port on the bottles, and the bottle connects directly into a first stage regulator on the harness through a quick attach/detach hook up. And that melted helmet hmmm.... This is a busy department that sees a lot of fire. Good job on the keyboard firefighting try....

  • @calaxlover18
    @calaxlover18 10 років тому +2

    Why brake all the windows ? Is there really a need to completely destroy the house and add to the damage that's already been done? On the initial attack shouldn't you wait to completely ventilate as to not add fuel to the fire. As soon as the fire fighter broke the sliding door (which he just could have slid open) notice how much the smoke increases. Now I don't know how much of the fire was knocked down before they started complete ventilation, but you still don't need to go full force on the windows, or sliding doors. PS if you hit the corners of the frames they get knocked out more easily.

      Taylor Northrup The increase in smoke came from breaking the window. My pet peeve with this op was the lack some people with packs on. (i.e. guy on the roof) and how some didn't have their straps fully tightened or on, (Guy with waist strap off coming through the door) and how some weren't fully geared up upon arrival (not talking officers and chauffeurs here, just fire fighters). I agree, fire fighter damage should be kept to a minimum, but if you look the areas where the doors and windows were fully broken were already burned.

    I love the "seasoned" helmet on the guy from the truck co. What a clown! Training Center hero right there. At some point the light will come on and he will realize that no one buys that look. And is it the cool thing to do on camera to run through a yard carrying your scba and tools.

    Everybody on here who has something to say about safety violations, please feel free to leave the safety vest on and stay in the street. There isn't any room for any of you safety keyboard commanders. Until you come ride or check the place out and the guys there, don't pass judgment. Recently at a fire that was more than likely a defensive attack to the safety world of firefighters, the guys pulled a victim from original fire apartment and saved him. We do what we do, and we do it quickly and effectively. Come on down and ride, get off the computer if you want to or feel the need to preach safety to us.

    Reading these comments just amazes me. Every one of you FF's are on here trying to brag about how you go to more fires and you're better than everyone else. Listen, I hate fires. That is someone's house. Their entire LIFE that could be burning. It pisses me off to no end to hear guys talk about how they hope they get a "good" fire. None of them are good! Our job is to get there, and save lives and save what we can of these peoples possessions, and do it safely so we can go home to our families. It seems like so many of these departments in MD and DE especially just want to go to fires for fun and they think it makes their @&$! look bigger because they are so aggressive. Well to me it makes you look like an idiot. There's a reason there are so many FF injuries in these areas. Slow down and think guys, you're being wreck less, careless, irresponsible, and you're doing a disservice to yourself and especially your family. This young generation of FF's needs such an attitude adjustment..
