  • Jawbox interview Savory video Motorist & Reel live on MTV 120 Minutes with Lewis Largent (1994.03.27)
Thanks to the legendary duo of Art & Steve who recorded and preserved the original 120 episode from whence this clip has been derived!
If you are an avid 120 Minutes fan and a trader/collector of actual episodes of the show, do please drop me a line. Although I have a fair number of shows, I am always looking for more in order to archive as many as possible, if you are willing to share, trade, or sell, please contact me.
If you recorded the show on VHS and still have your original video tapes but don’t have the capability of transferring to dvd and/or digital, I’d be more than happy to transfer them for you and send your original VHS back to you along with dvd and/or digital files.

My uncle taped this for me when this aired. I didn’t have cable and was a huge Jawbox fan. It was mind blowing for me to see them interviewed and play live. I definitely remember the madder rose and unrest videos too. Awesome. Thanks for posting.

You are most welcome! I’m definitely a fan of Jawbox and was fortunate enough to see them live a few times in the early 90s at the Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill…and even got to interview them myself at one of those shows…great band and awesome people!!!

Everything I’ve ever seen, heard or read about J. Robbins is positive. I cannot imagine living in an era where I could see Jawbox be interviewed at length on MTV and have their videos shown on the same program and have them perform live. I missed it by a few years unfortunately.

I know, I remember back then catching something like this was incredible. I remember seeing the video but I must have missed the interview. Kids have it so easy now with youtube.

Yep, I was a fan of 120 minutes. However I wasn’t a fan of what time it came on. I already didn’t do my homework and now I’m going to sleep at 2am and have to get up in four hours to catch the bus. Thanks for posting these though. 🤘

That was my life for a few years in the Dave Kendall era...the time slot was a killer...not sure how I survived and made it through high school and college with the lack of sleep before Monday morning...but I did...and boy, was it worth it!!! Viva 120!!!

Thanks for uploading. It's great to hear the interview and that performance of Motorist. I wonder if the recording of Reel is floating around anywhere...

I always thought they should have covered "Shakin'" by Eddie Money. J. Robbins kinda sounds like him.

This aired right after Jawbox signed to Atlantic. They took a lot of shit about it, as did Green Day when they signed to Warner Bros. the year before. Back then major labels bands and indie/punk bands did not mix and there was a stigma in signing with a major label, who were thought to control and exploit their artists.
I saw Jawbox live a few times and they were amazing. And I was very happy when they visited the record store I used to own❤❤
