Loved hearing this. Since I’m from Lafayette (at LSU riding it out in Baton Rouge right now…pray for me) and have some knowledge of the Alexandria area (where Bolton is) I’d have to ask coach Teague if that double wing coach he mentioned is former Menard head coach Charles Gatlin

@@CoachMcKie thanks coach, I was. Wasn’t as bad here as I thought it’d be but there’s a lot of people in and near New Orleans that need a lot of help for sure.
No I was referring to a coach out of Avoyelles Parish. Andy Boone runs it well. I know Gatlin well! Good friend of mine.
@@markteague7881 coach Boone! I see him on Sportsline sometimes, always good discussion when he gets on there. Really good guy, good coach too.
We were a single-wing offense (Throw 3 times a game.), but over the last 2 years we opened up one side with 2 WR and kept the wing on the other. The base run game is the same, but we're Air Raid in the passing game. Lots of short throws. 70%+ completion for 2 games. One of them we came from behind in the 4th Q to win a 2 hr road game on a Saturday afternoon (It was dark and we were wearing sunglasses lol.). Never did that before. Defenses have plenty to worry about.
Another way to deal with a heavy 6 tech is to tag the wing back to line up on the line of scrimmage
I'm looking at finally moving into play calling instead of just run game only and this is looking like a hell of a short yardage and 2 pt. curve ball to throw in with room to expand.

What makes you say it’s bastardized?
@@CoachMcKie It's a combination of wing-T, unbalanced, shotgun, and if the team runs the spin series, old school straight T. We play a shotgun single-wing team who also runs fly sweep in addition to power, buck, etc. Plus it's an extreme unbalanced formation (4-lineman plus 2-3 backfield all on one side). It's a very unique offense and defenses often aren't sure how to align to it if they don't see it regularly.
Lol...I completely understand. Your point is very valid! Crazy thing though, the team's who defend us best are teams who line up in what they normally do defensively.
@@markteague7881 I hope you know I meant no disrespect! We battle a great unbalanced single-wing team every year, and it's a great system that teams are not used to defending. And I agree on teams getting themselves all out of position from their normal defense.

GREAT INTERVIEW COACH! I have ran the Single Wing for over 20 years. All but 3 years, we averaged 30-50 pts a game. I have ran the unbalanced line, as well. I also run a spread off of the single wing and Swinging Gate. When you mentioned ALWAYS running 13-14 guys on scout Defense and running straight at their best player....I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY. We just did that a couple nights ago and ended up winning 56-0....and we were the underdog/ I also developed 5 different alignments of my backs. Just hearing you talk, I agree and admire your philosophy. By the way, this at the middle school level. Several years, I have been asked by our High School Coach to Teach the High School (most are former players)a quick package they can use in some situations. Again, GREAT INTERVIEW!

Look up Xavier high school from New York. Once they switched over to the single wing, they began to win o a consistent basis, and even win a few championships.

Hope its not to late, I have ran both many years. Ran dw 3 years became a good team and won a lot of games. I ran the sw 4 years and began to dominate. We even went not huddle and became unstopable. Coached youth football 12 years and LOVED it. About to start again and theses coaches have NO CLUE whats about to happen.
I've used single wing concepts to go with an air raid offence. I use the single wing runs out of a fast break huddle. The D is always expecting airraid formations and plays. Then they get shocked when we run single wing. Works a treat
